I've been listening to Bob James music for over 40 years. His albums never dissapoints me or get bored over all these years. I especially love his version of " We're all alone" which is cover of the original by Boz Scaggs of course. Now this a ballad of course, also sung by Rita Coolidge, but Bob made it an uptempo instrumental tune, in which you can easy recognize the original. But his cover is a truly brilliant, exciting music adventure, full of awesome improvisations. You should be a great, brilliant musician to transform a ballad with a Strong melodyline into a uptempo song and still sounds beautiful and interesting. Bob James definately is one of the greatest contemporary composers, arranger and players of all time. I'm a modest piano player myself, and everytime i lost my inspiration to do " something" on the keyboard, i turn to one of Bob's tunes to get inspired again. Also his version of " You're as right as Rain" improvised entirely on the Fender Rhodes, is awesome. Though i like other jazzplayers too, like Monty Alexander and his Carribean piano jazz, or Grover Washington Jr., The great saxplayer, it's Bob James music that's get me up when i'm down. Thank God for Bob James!
