Interesting stuff. And well presented. It might have been an idea to mention the Southampton to Salisbury canal though, if only in passing. Whatever, enjoyable and educational. I'm looking forward to more episodes.
The area was already a "park" of sorts prior to the replanting and installation of the moon gate. It was mainly used as a cutaway from the bend up to the Civic Centre to the station, but became very run down and was mainly used by the homeless and drug users. When it was decided to renovate it, it was also decided to make it into a memorial. Regarding the street levels, there was obviously a natural slope down towards the waterline, so the street level was built up well after the Emperia building was bombed.
Very interesting video, Bob! 👌🏼😀
Thanks Frank
Ruins are mysteries, you explain your investigations well with camera and curiosity. 🇬🇧🇺🇸👍

Really interesting stuff. Well put together and I also had no idea the sea came in that far.
Cheers, amazing what you find out isn't it?
Fantastic work Pastfinder.
Good sound effects and graphics.
And people wonder why sea levels are rising with all the land reclamation over the years.
Cheers Steve

Cheers Steve. Don't think many people knew about the sea.
That's a great find. Too often we see things like that and don't ask the question "What was it?" When we do it can be fascinating!
Thanks Bob

Thanks David. Another 45 vids on the UA-cam channel for you to watch.
I've been to Southampton Central Station numerous times & I think only once used the northern exit. I'll make a note to explore next time!
Get there at the right time of day and it can be quite peaceful.

Thanks Mandy, I remember it as a park prior to renovation but as you say, not that pleasant. Very little info available on the history though.
@@PASTFINDERexploring I enjoyed your video. I must admit I've never really looked at it that closely, so thanks!
