- How to germinate Strict Blue-Eyed Grass from seed. In this video I demonstrate how to plant this short perennial grass from seed to provide an accent to your garden. This plant only gets about 6" tall, or 9cm. This plant isn't really a 'true' grass, but a member of the Iris family (I think).

How’d these turn out?
Hi - not that good. I only had a few seeds germinate. I do have one plant alive in our back garden. My thinking is that this needs to have fresher seed, similar to Ironweed or Joe-Pye weed. So, it is best to find a source yourself, or plant immediately after receiving seed in the winter. And buy from a reputable seed company (in late fall/early winter).
Growit Buildit Cool, I’ve got two clumps of a species found in California- I collected some seeds a year or two ago and was just looking at what other people have done cause I want to get more going and put it in a few other places in the garden and see what it does.
Mine didn't grow well either. You said it needs a cold treatment, shouldn't we put the seeds in the refrigerator for a month before planting? I had to do a month long water soak and refrigerator treatment for my Japanese irises. I'm going to try that with the last of my seeds. Thanks for sharing!!
Yes, cold moist stratification is necessary. I winter sowed mine, so they received a cold treatment. Next time I'm going to try fresher seed
