Great video. I have a canon FD 50mm for my AE-1 Program. The blades are stuck open. Will depressing that pin release the blades? If so, can you make a more detailed video how to approach this?
    Thanks!!!

Yes, depressing the pin should unlock the blades. There are converter mounts that have the pin lock /unlock built in and it is MUCH easier to deal with. Standby on the video - there was another youtube video that shows how to depress the pin with a small screwdriver.

No, no, no. Most vintage (old) lenses are not like this These hold a special place in the museum of the weird. I just bought a 24mm FDn and a 50mm FDn. I have a collection of 35 vintage lenses and none of them are as weird as these FDn lenses. I think you will find more things too. I can see why they are so cheap. I would not recommend anyone buying them. Wait until you notice the "A" button. FYI: You Jack the aperture UP. You CRANK the aperture down. I think Canon was on drugs when they did this.

I am sorry you are having a bad experience with these lens, but your drugs comment gave me a good laugh

Yeah, how did people like that get control of Canon in the first place? I have the Canon FL 55mm f1.2 Fluorite Lens elements 1968 (1.05822 lbs) {$105: 2-2022} and it is easy to use. So the nFD or New FD came out to make life better. Then they finally dropped the mount completely. Japan is pretty smart in lenses, other than with this. Don't let this experience influance your opinion of vintage (1960s through 1980s) lenses. I like some of them way better than modern lenses. I have a collection of vintage lenses that include: Olympus, Minolta, Chinon, Mamiya, Auto Revuenon, Asahi Super Takumar, Auto Rikenon, ZENITAR-M, FUJINON, TOMIOKA, some Russian lenses that were designed by the Germans, and more. They are all great. It is like having different paints for a oil painter. Each lens renders the images in their own way. All of these are manual lenses. I really don't like auto anything in a camera. So what I am concerned with is Color rendering, Color distortion or aberration (CA), and that is about it.
There is a saying, "When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping" and that is exactly what I did last week. I like negating prices down. I have been upgrading my PC mother board, CPU, RAM and graphics board. This did not go well or at least easy. So in the middle of the frustration I decided to go shopping on eBay. I bought these:
      Mamiya Sekor C 45mm F/2.8 N Lens for M645 1000S Pro TL From Japan (6-9-2023 $220)
      Canon FD-N 24mm, f2.8 (6-4-2023 $99)
      Canon Canon FD 50mm 1:1.8 Lens (6-10-2023 $35).
There last two were a mistake.
Have you figured out what the "A" button is yet?

Canon didn't think their manual SLR system through. The Canonflex had lens mechanical problems, the Breech Lock system also needed three hands to mount, FL and until late in FD, that breech lock, over complicated mechanical aperture was firmly established.
They didn't ask professional photogs what they wanted and needed. Their Leica Screwmount rangefinder cameras, lenses, and accessories were what Canon did best save tor the overcomplicated selenium metered 7..
Nikon had the best pro SLR, in 1959, and Canon didn't begin to compete in amateur SLR models until 1964. Canon had to play catchup. Three lens mounts in the time Nikon had one. I say this as a Canon RF user and fan. And once Canon FTb owner.

So I’ve done this, and it works with an FD-RF adapter. When I put it on my AE-1, doesn’t work.
