Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Volume Air Flow Sensor Repair - Fix Check Engine Codes - MAF IAT
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- I made the mistake of removing the two screws on the volume air flow sensor and pulled the connector out essentially destroying the sensor. In this video I took apart the top cap and resoldered the connections that were busted. Thanks for watching. I hope everyone is doing well out there.

Just did the same thing today on my 1991 Cressida, thanks for the video, gonna have an attempt at fixing tomorrow
Did the same thing bro, but didn’t have the tools to fix like you. Good job, I’m about to clean my 80 Mass Air Flow sensor today as I was having the same issues you have. Hope all goes well. Thank you
Man, thanks. I just did this on my buddies' land cruiser. I couldn't find any info except yours, much appreciated. I'm going to try this today.
@@jrbrown1978 Thanks for watching. I hope it helps you out. Good luck with the repair.
Did you end up fixing it?
Absolutely that's exactly what it was.
@@jrbrown1978 was it pretty easy to solder?
@@mr.skeltal3730 yea very easy it didn't take 15 minutes to solder all 3 prongs good luck it works.
I admit, I screwed mine up the same way. Going to try and repair it today using your video as a reference. Thanks for putting this together!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad it was helpful for you. Good luck with your repair.
@@goatsinapond it’s probably the sloppiest solder job I’ve ever seen but it works!
@@ExploringWithTheBz haha, you right about that
Legend mate, did what you did started right away! Life saver
Love to hear it. Glad it worked for you.
i mess up and did the same thing ...been looking for some info for months now ill do the same thing you did it should save me hundreds...thanks so much for everything...land cruisers 4 ever...peace you the man
Yea. It sucks they made it so tricky! I hope this works for you. Mine is still going strong!
And I just fell for this trap and pulled my apart 😤🤬.
Thanks for your video!
Dang, sorry to hear that. Good luck getting it fixed!
Just soldered it like your video. Started right up! Thanks brother! 🤙🏽
Love to hear it. Glad to know you got it running!
Thanks for the heads up 😅phew!
Cheera mate, did the exact same thing and thought i was gonna have to fork out $300 for a refurbished one.
Glad it was helpful for you. My solder job is still holding strong.
Mate this video saved me
Nice job. Those 3 pads are just PCB with nothing to solder to the key is soldering each connection to the metal trace on the board they connect to.
I just bought a 4runner and i only owned bmw so i never seen old stuff like this and i did the same thing and now it makes sense why the truck wont stay running for 3 secs after starting
Yea, that’ll do it
Thanks mate, saved my ass 🤙
I too fell for this TRAP..Going to do the same thing & see if this works for me too. Not sure when or long ago you did this but definitely would appreciate an update?
Thanks for all your videos. Keep Up The Great Work 👍 👊💪💯👍💯💪👊👊👊👊

Hey, sorry to hear it got you too. Since doing this repair (approximately 6 months ago) my cruiser has been running strong. No check engine lights. Good luck to you!
Great job,, I did the same thing lol,,
I have a 1992 I did the same thing now I gotta figure it out
Good luck working through it.
Awesome content man. Just watched the entire video. I do have a question and forgive me if I somehow missed where you explained the original issue with the VAF. If I understand correctly, the solder points were ripped out from you undoing the two screws and disconnecting the plug from the VAF. Before you did that those solder points should’ve still been good correct? So what else was wrong with the unit besides the two solder points?
It's been so long ago, I can't really remember. I'm pretty sure I was having rough / low idle and the check engine light was on for the VAF. I wanted to clean the VAF like a MAF, but got owned instead.
@@goatsinapondgot it! Thanks brother
Great video new subscriber here 👍
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate you!
Is anyone have a link on how to test these units? I have a 93 AFM and can't figure out if it's bad or not. An I really don't want to buy one just to find out
Does anyone know where can I get a new air intake valve on my 80 series
You spray the innerds w/ the new solder you made? Just spray all that out w/ MAF?
I didn't spray anything on it. It's a sealed system so it was already really clean in there.
Were you able to access under the circuit board to clean? What exactly did you spray clean?
I didn't pull the circuit board up. Only had to clean the pads to solder the connectors. You can use isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip to wipe them down. You'll want to clean up the old silicone so you can reseal the casing.
Give me 1994 toyota land cruiser maf sensor wiring diagram
I have a 95.
I heard that anytime you mess with any electronics that have to do with idle, there's a computer that needs to readjust to fixes?
Not positive on year and make though but I could've sworn land cruisers have this type of computer brain. lol
Hmm. I haven't heard of that. I fixed this issue and the check engine light went away almost immediately. No issues with idling so far!
