- I decided to make tutorial how to get similar to 303 bass style sound on Elektron model:cycles.

You can get the portamento glides by setting the lfo to single shot mode and plocking the lfo on switch. You can use the punch button as an accent

It still sounds fkin great though, and it does *operate* just like 303 on Cycles.
303 sounds are all about the filter, and the M:Cycles doesn’t have a filter. It makes great FM basses though. I wonder how close to Lately Bass you can get with it.

@@TheDarkDigital yeah that's similar they're both acid, but a 303 is a bassline from a specific type of synth. What you have here is an original sound design for FM acid basses and that's FIIIIREEEEEE
That reminds me of when I used to create tracks on a Sound Blaster card with the FM chip in the 90s.

Been drooling over Roland Aira T8 to get that 303 sound, but no need if my trusty Cycles can do it. 👌
wouldn't be easier to get Behri's td03? 100 eur for analog synth with a sequencer...
@@tresporros of course behringer td-3 will sound much better :)) I have Crave, I can make super cool analog basses on it. But point of this video is to get similar sound on m:c. When you are playing with only one groovebox and don't want to use some extra gear. 😉✌
Cycles can't reproduce it cause it doesn't has proper filter with resonance, but we can try to get close to this sound :))

Great tone! Love this beast even more now. Since you have both Samples and Cycles, which one do you prefer? Can you share some tricks on how to workaround the absence of a filter on Cycles? Your demo sounds so clear, no clashing frequencies and no buzz which is typical for this machine.
Thanks. I prefer mode:samples. You can produce almost any kind of music you want with it. Cycles is more limited device in my opinion. About lack of filter on cycles. In this video I made onscreen shortcuts, and there is some kind of filter imitation. But it works only with tone engine. So..yeah...cycles is pretty limited device in sound design.🤷
Not a 303 at all, also no pulse sound at the end. But man, I like it. I want a Model:Cycles too and you're part of the reason why. :D

@@TheDarkDigital а когда Ess обещал что машинка станет чем то совсем другим буквально через год. Есть надежда на жадность. Но в целом мне и в этом виде она очень нравится. Я все планирую ее по крутить через tidalcycles.

ну если честно, не уверен насчёт такова звучания. у model cycles нету полифонии и нету фильтра, очень сложно делать такой винтажный аналоговый звук.

@@TheDarkDigital люблю твои ролики - слушаю в фоне во время работы, прям супер. Как считаешь сетап m:s + m:c инетерснее и производительнее ли чем Syntakt? m:s + m:c у меня есть, а Syntakt очень конечно хочется - но не ясно, стоит ли размениваться
@@ramaravana ух, спасибо !:) кстати треки можно и на Bandcamp послушать , вроде удобнее там🙄 Насчёт Syntakt, ну не знаю...по-моему он как cycles на стероидах. Конечно там есть крутые движки синтовые, не только урезанный фм как на cycles. Но там нет сэмплера.. просто для меня model:samples это самый удобный девайс. Я также думал, что надо проапгрейдится и взять уже некст левел что-то, взял Digitak, и разочарован в нём, сейчас продаю его. Cycles я взял чтобы попробовать что-то другое, просто ради интереса. В итоге, если я хочу поиграть на отдельном groovebox, без дополнительных девайсов , model:samples просто топ! Если ты хочешь увеличивать число девайсов в своём dawless сетапе, ну добавляй туда Syntakt, лишнем не будет :) А вообще я считаю , если очень хочется, то надо брать и пробовать, потом если что, всегда можно продать;)
@@TheDarkDigital спасибо за мнение. Я наоборот пытаюсь минимизировать сетап - но кмк обмен на Syntakt дорогое удовольствие ради удовольствия) Самом собой дело не в дивайсах. Я уже вроде перерос Gear Acquisition Syndrome, однако любопытство никто не отменял. M:с мобильный (работает от повербанка) и очень характерный - люблю его, то что надо что бы не зарыться глубоко в чистом фм. А вот с m:s как то у меня туже срастается - видимо я просто не очень умею с семплами. Ладно, увело куда-то. На Bandcamp нут ползунка уровня звука - это бесит! Хороший ролик, интересно было бы увидеть больше обучающего контента. Спасибо)
