GM NAILED it with these cars!!!!!! The brochures for the '77 Caprice/Impala & Delta 88, in particular, stated "We made it right for the times without making it wrong for the people", & "The family car that didn't forget the family", respectively. Both were bang-on!!!!!

I don't think General Motors intended this, but the car in the animation, looks more than a bit like the Ford LTD.
Main competitor for the Chev Impala and Caprice.

It does look like pre-1979 Ford. I suppose when they had to create a generic illustration of an aggregate of these new downsized full size cars for all GM divisions, that's what they ended up with.

Back in. those days .. GM was the Leader .. over 50% of the total US car market .. GM was always first with fresh designs .. Ford and Chrysler were always trying to catch up. Ford and Chrysler were 2 years behind GM in their all new downsized Full Size cars.
