I had that stereo in my 1.0 swift GLS. We did a trip from Swansea to Glasgow and it died going through Cardiff! The swift averaged 67MPG on that trip and the seating position was great for me at 5'11. far more front legroom than the Alto by the looks of things. I didn't quite have seat right the way back! Only problem I had with the Suzuki was the rust. the metal brackets that held things together underneath had dissolved away in a few places and the body was following suit fast. That said, If I found a good one, I'd put some extra sound deadening in it and keep it going as best I could. A simple fuel efficient car with a quiet character (if a bit noisy on motorways). It can get under your skin I suppose.
I have had exactly the same situation. I had a 2001 GLS and it has been an absolute corker! never let me down until recently where it failed it's MOT because of rust (after 5 years of ownership). Everything else was sweeter than a nut on it, engine, clutch, brakes no problem. Even after drifting it around fields for the first year of ownership, it never let me down when I got onto the roads after passing my test. What did you do with your Swift? did you sell it and for how much? also what car did you go for afterwards? I'm thinking about going for an Alto.
you all prolly dont care but does someone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any help you can give me!
@Leonel Karter thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
i’ve just got this car as my first car 😂 i honestly love it. funny to see people’s faces when you turn up in this tiny 16 year old thing but it runs great
My suzuki alto is 18yrs old, never let me down, starts first time, gets yhtough mot every year, easy to park, I LOVE this model, very happy with my car, best car ive ever had. Never needed lots of parts except battery x 1, exhaust x 1, very good engine runs like a sewing machine. Mrs Benton
They are very dependable but due to neglect I ruined my motor and it's due for some body repairs on the front end. I'd really like to keep it for an heirloom. It's a peppy little dragon with lots of zing, but the engine is super rare.
Hi, Mrs Benton, I see you had a Suzuki Alto. I am looking at an 04 model. May I ask, how does it perform on the motorway? I'd like to drive it a couple of hours on the motorway?

I had two of those brand new and, loved them. I remember the first time that I had four very large adults in it and was approaching a steep half mile long. hill near our house , I was apprehensive to say the least but it sailed effortlessly to the top, a great small car.
I was looking for a cheap runabout for work and dirty adventures, and i thought i'd try an alto 2004 which at the time before covid was a really cheap little car, i found one with only 42k on the clock and only 700 quid on ebay. 3 years later and i still own the car now on 68k and i've only had to get a new radiator fitted i also had the timing belt replaced just after i got it. I've even used it off road and it's a fantastic little car. 30 quid a year to tax, i put 10 quids worth of fuel in and the needle almost hits half tank.
I know I am commenting very late to this video but in my country, this gen car is very popular. We don't like the new locally produced one because that one is crap. People import the current gen alto from Japan in my country.
I bought one of these with a knackered clutch. The seller mentioned there was a knock from the wishbone. The ARB mount had broken off and you could move the wheel back and forth! I only needed it for the engine as they have the same block as the Suzuki SJ410 so a nice fuel injected upgrade. The carpet is just a thick piece of cloth and feels grim, but I really like the car and it's a shame to have to break it for my other car. It feels better than the K11 Micra I have.
Nice review, I have the same car as a cheap second car. Similar drive to my old mini metro. Super cheap to run, easy to service/fix yourself, been very reliable, definitely not a motorway car but great for driving about town. Great fun, recent new front suspension arms have smoothed out the ride at speed.
Hi Derek, is your Suzuki Alto very noisy/bad on the motorway? Thinking of buying one to take me 2.5 hours on motorway every weekend, then back? Need some advice. Thanks, Derek!
@@pipwheatley4804 not the quietest of cars but no better or worse than my ford that I currently have. I mainly used mine to drive to the train station and back 2 miles away, do didn't do a lot of motorway miles with it. M ok be e eventually was scrapped due to need for welding on the rear suspension,
Ah man this brings back memories. It's my first car, brought it brand new in 2003 and its exactly as I remember it from this video (was a GL model also). Albeit my was dark blue. It's a great little car, gets you from A to B.
Hi Gringo Tom, I am looking at a 2004 version with 30k miles on her. Do they get really bad on the motorway? I want to drive her 3 hours and back every weekend? Any advice?
It can be done but it's scary being buffeted around by lorries etc. I'd probably recommend something a bit bigger and safer for regular motorway driving
Good info, thanks :) how noisy is it on the motorway, unbearable or do you get used to it? not sure if i should get a fiat punto instead for more comfort. thanks again.
Hi are you a professional auto Reviewer, if not you should think about changing your career. Great voice, plain and practical in your delivery, good work..
you might be able to help me out then, I bought one of these a few days ago and did'nt get the owners manual with it, do you by any chance know what the black tank under the bonnet it for, pause the vid at 1:35, its between the battery and the coolant tank
Hello Is it possible to replace suzuki Alto engine gasoline 3 cylinders 12 v by another Suzuki altoengine gasoline 4 cylinders 16 V? Thank you for your advice .
Hey man noticed you mentioned you want to replace the speakers. If you do can you please make a video on how to do it as im getting this car tomorrow and want to get some semi decent speakers too! Thanks a lot mate :)
That gear lever is so dodgy probably because the transmission connecting rod bushes have worn out. I'm also experiencing the same issue. It's gonna be a cheap fix though. Also mine needs a clutch replacement, its pretty unevenly worn.
brother just gave me his Suzuki Alto after my Mazda died , i like the taxed and insured for £200.00 ! , its quite zippy ,bit loud when you get over 40mph but nothing too bad , heater is good . anyway fingers crossed for the MOT
Best to get body work done. I noticed it gets bad to the front behind the fenders under the steering and causes the driver and passenger floor to go. Stop the upper rust and it'll slow the floor currosion

These are well cheap to buy here in the UK. How would this be on a 40 mile dual carriage way only journey, often? And are they prone to rusting?
Would fine i think. Rust was quite good for an old car
I have the same one but then in red. Good little car but in the highway above 65 MP/h its a bit noisy
Tom, do they come with passenger and side airbags?

If it's not too bad brush some transmission fluid on any rust spots to slow it
The MOT on this expired last year 😪
The heaters are quality 😂
Is this japan version or indian version?
No i mean the manufactured country
Yeah that's what i thought. I have the exact model and wonder what is that car! Coz i have never seen such model except my car.
