I was born in Glasgow but family moved to Canada was I was only 4 years old. I'm now 69 and I've never been back but it gives me a good feeling to see where my life started and that those are really my countrymen.
Cheers for that. I've not been able to get into town for 17 months because of Covid so this was great! Weird to see Buchanan St and Sauchielhall St so quiet. Great wee walk. Thanks x
This storm was fantastic. Been a while since we've had a goodyin like this, I was sat for ages just listening to the rain and lightning like I used to when I was a wain, very soothing. Thanks for the video, it's comforting to listen to when trying to sleep at some weird hour in the morning.
@@elkiepops Totally I am the same thunderstorm lightning and rain is really Calming Relaxing And Lovely But it is really scary and 8 can’t sleep either
Great wee (wet) walk! I saw a storm in Glasgow like this one, many years ago. The city centre was awash and then, as the bus took me away from the centre, it got less and less and 5 miles out we were in brilliant sunshine! Greetings from Ipswich (the only town in Britain currently with a water shortage).
I haven't been in Glasgow City centre for about 30 years and I was wondering if someone could help with something I saw in the video. You see that building that is above the motorway at Charing Cross ( from about 14:30 onwards). Was that not the site of a bit of road that went nowhere? Did they build on top of it or have I got mixed up about where it was. Thanks.
Brilliant walk in the rain I luv the sound of rain on umbrella 🌂 thax for that, just as well our skin is waterproof as we life in Scotland, we had same here u could have gone down our st in a boat after app 30mns LOL. peace ✌
I'm 62 originally from Govan ( Golslie street) and been in Leeds Yorkshire since I was 17. Only 2 decent storms in all that time. Wet and wetter Glasgow. The stuff of childhood.
@@MakeRangersGreatAgain tbh, Sauchiehall St has been like this for years now, especially since the Buchanan Galleries were built. The further you get towards Charing Cross the more deserted shops you get.
Think that's bad, we were in Kirkcaldy high street at 5pm Wednesday with no rain and only passed three people. Most of their shops have closed so no M&S, Tesco, BHS amongst others since they all moved out to the new retail park or closed down completely. Mind you the video only showed the "light rain" in Glasgow as there was some absolutely torrential stuff on Sunday 12.30pm which flooded huge areas, streets and railway lines.
Hmm. Trust me, it looks exactly the same as any other street in any other large soulless city in the world in real life. Try Edinburgh instead, you'll be proud of that.
Dont bother it's a dump, a shite hole , full of junkies , beggars, horrible atmosphere, better to visit Edinburgh, Glasgow was better in 80s 90s has got worse every year and with Queen Krankie in charge i can't see it improving .
yep the weather caught up to me from Glasgow was in a canoe in the middle of loch lomond today then this came, just had to go back to Balloch otherwise the water would have built up
Av stayed between glesga and Lanarkshire my full life and I've only ever saw 👀one thunder ⛈and lightning storm and that was back in 1989 or something I've heard the odd clap of thunder and saw the occasional lightning strike but its never lasted more than 2 minutes but my da who stays on the other side of glesga has seen a few thunder and lightning ⛈🌩storms. Pity we only get them here every couple of decades 🙄
I remember a time I had a day in Stirling January the 14th I think it was very rainy and windy and the wind was pushing water off the buildings I think and went on me
All that concrete and no flooding unlike in Edinburgh!? Edinburgh council should talk with Glasgow council for a few pointers on how to keep drains clean! 😂
Can we all take a moment to ponder the fact, that all those umbrellas wont last the next Scottish winter. Scotland's windy climate laughs at folks who dare to believe otherwise.
I love this. Thanks for "the rhythm of the falling rain". 😉😊

There's something soothing in watching the rain come down... especially from the comfy of your chair
Not if your in a Glasgow hostel and I'm flooded and can't get a move out. Fuckin dump
Agree, until said rain starts coming through the ceiling like as happened to us on Fri, Sat and Sunday afto lol. Buckets everywhere. What a mare!
Enjoyed the wee walk , thanks xxx
Oaft! It's been a long time coming, it's been so warm & clammy.
Down here in Ayrshire, we had some rain, not this heavy & no thunderstorms.
A normal summer’s day in Glasgow 🤣

Born in Ayrshire but live in Corby now, this reminds me of the song from The Scottish band The Silencers, Scottish Rain says it all.
We've not had rain in 6 weeks, this is most likely why this video is posted
@Gerry Mac How about the song > Why does it always rain on me < >by Travis
That’s like listening to bacon sizzle on the pan....very relaxing.
