- This 1on1 soccer drill focuses on developing players' speed endurance, attacking and defending 1v1 skills.
Players work in pairs.
The size of the area should be created adequate to the given age category.
The progression starts at coach sign.
Important is to pair the players with equal abilities.
Variation 1:
Players accelerate to the same and determined direction at the coach's command. They have to turn around the other three poles running outside the area, then they can get into the playing area by turning around the pole at their starting position. The fastest player gets the ball from the coach and tries to finish the 1v1 situation against his opponent.
Variation 2:
In this variation players start their movements with a ball, they dribble around the determined number of poles and try to score to the opposite goal. The faster goal scorer gets the ball from the coach and tries to score as an attacker against the opposition. If the defender wins the ball the game continues after a quick interchange.

Thank you for this one. I use this drill a lot. My players love it. Its competitive and fun. When you play match you often receive pass after a rush, just like in variation 1. You can also make this 2vs2 or 3vs3 and all players in team must touch the ball before you score goal. Just adjust size of the space

Why do you ask players to sprint / dribble around the field and then play 1vs1?
speed conditioning and then competitive soccer. Just like the real thing.
Is this the real thing i.e. soccer? Cause I have never seen players running around the field and then competing for the ball.

is it for anaerobic alactic capacity?
They are sprinting 10-15 sec full speed, so it is anaerobic lactic. Alactic is just the first 2-5 sec, after that your atp and cp depots are empty.
