    Tool and Supply List
Sculpey 3 polymer clay in black
Pearl Ex Pigments in Antique Bronze, Gold, Duo Red Blue, Reflex Violet, Silver and Spring Green
18 gauge steel wire - other metals will work too
    Wire cutters
    Small paint brush
    Assort clay sculpting tools
A flat board to work on
    A sharp knife
A piece of paper to keep the door from sticking to the board
    Access to a household oven
A sturdy box or object that offers a complete right angle for shaping a flat bottom to the fairy door frame to stand on once baked.
Sculpey 3 Polymer Clay Baking Instructions
Preheat your household oven to 275 degrees, place the door and board in the oven on a piece aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes per quarter inch of clay thickness. Your fairy door looks great, Jake!! Enjoyed this video as I have your other polymer clay videos. I'm planning to do a woodsland fairy "village" for a good friend as a gift this year. Thank you for sharing with us!

Awesome to hear from you. Please, if you make things that are even in part as a result of my tutorials, I like to share images of "student" sculptures with my viewers. It is a great confidence builder. My email is on my "about" part of my channel page. Thanks again. - Jake :-)

Very nice I wasn't sure about the black but final touches made it stunning. I'm a follower.

Hey! Where can I find the varnish you mentioned? Our fairy doors are going in the woods at our local park, along the trails. By the way, this is the best fairy door tutorial I've seen on youtube so far! Thank you!!

You can get spar varnish at hardware or paint stores. Do a test area on your polymer clay to make sure the varnish won't break it down. Thanks so much. -Jake :-)

Hi Jake, this video, (like your others), is so inspirational and informative! This one happens to be one of my favorites! You make it look so easy. I tend to get a little impatient and flustered with myself when attempting new projects, and your reminders to be patient, and continue to practice helps tremendously! I understand the importance of baking according to directions. But, would it be possible to say how long you baked this specific piece just to give me a guide of sorts? I would really appreciate it. I'm excited to try this project, but only on a smaller scale. Using black clay accented with pearl ex pigments has become a favorite of mine to use. Thank you so much for sharing your talented creations and encouragement! Victoria

Thank you so much for your comments and compliments Victoria. Sometimes I note an approximate baking time for a project but you would be surprised at how many do the baking time I suggest - the result, a lot of messed up sculptures. Of course, every sculpture made is going to be different. It is just not a good idea to suggest times to bake. However, on an individual basis and by email, I would discuss it with you. My email address is in the about section of my channel page at UA-cam.com/user/TheJakeFolger :-) Thanks again for your comments and kind words. - Jake

You can place them on your wall to act both as decor and fairies can used them as a portal to pass through. Hope this helps. - Jake
