Almost forgot. Just a heads up and a personal opinion. I wanted to let you know that the two decals "zombie outbreak response team" and "walking dead daryl" you have on the rear glass of the FJ could be a give-away to somebody in the know. Especially in a true crisis. Even sitting out in the driveway if you have local theft. Prep gear is not cheap. Especially when you have a car load. If you were sitting in a traffic jam on a major road-way and people flipping out around you and see that you have a slight possibility of being a "apocalypse/shtf/teotwawki scenario enthusiast" that means you are prepped better than 95% of the people out there. I would wager that there would not be a shortage of mature family members willing to mame or even kill to provide for their children. Thanks again. Great Vids!
Right.. so, three years later. The world hasn't come to end. Have you used anything of this, or is it still a bunch of shiny stuff in unopened containers?
still the most coprehensive BOV video on UA-cam :) while I do agree with some that you carry more than I ever would BUT huge respect for the organization and detail you've gone to. would love to see another update!
Very sweet gear man! Thank you for sharing. Probably a little much for what I would do personally but really got some good ideas and info from your video. Thanks again for sharing!
great vid im just coming across it now but i think its funny how everyone is an expert what we may not know is what alot of people do which is have a BOB and EDC with much of the same gear that you have thoroughly tested and that you have mostly newer gear in you car kit that is gear you know and trust and if/when shtf you dont want to rely on the gear you've beat up and used over the years this is why when i buy something new i always buy two but everyone is so critical while alot of them are gud people trying to be helpful it really helps to know someone b4 passing judgment the way i see it is you must really know a few things about gear ive never seen a BOV vid anywere near as extensive as this one great job and would love to see an update
very well thought out, and awesome organization. you can save some space in your food pouch by putting the ezbit fuel tabs inside the stove while its closed!
Hey I just wanted to let you know; while the weather forecasting, animal tracks, and pro-knot pocket guides are handy; the SAS survival guide has all of that in it. That way you could spread your booklets to other vehicles or bug-to locations. Very nice series. I found many new items to research about. Thanks.
Love the truck! I got mine decked out with a bike rack on the trailer hitch for my Bicycle and got free maps of states and biking trails by emailing the state's tourist bureau.
Great set up, how often do you go through everything to check batteries, expiration dates, dried out products etc etc? Also get rid of those 5 hour energy drinks, in a survival situation staying hydrated is huge. Caffeine is a diuretic which will worsen dehydration.
Hi! Great vid! I don't know, if it is just me or is everything brand new and clean as if it was all bought yesterday. Just a hint! get out and use this stuff. Try under all sorts of situations. You have to use your kit to get used to how it works and it's shortcomings as well as it's strong points. Don't wait till you have to use it to try it. That would be a recipe for disaster.
Most of the items shown wouldn't really need testing. I mean, doesn't everyone know how toilet paper works or a flashlight? I think we've all field tested those to some extent. However, had this video been about his BOB or EDC, then yea, I would agree.
Great setup but what do you have planned of you MUST un-ass the FJ and hit the trails? Those are an awful lot of gear bags to haul around when a single pack would work. Perhaps placing all the bags within a larger pack would be advisable? Otherwise, great job!
Great Vid. One comment. I also bought the Esbit cooking stove. I worry about packing that near my food. Those fire cubes give off a nasty odor even wrapped up and packing them next to your food might make the food taste awful. Am I correct in thinking that? Thanks!
Great vids. I watched all 3 bug out and get home bag videos today. I've got a 2012 FJ too and want to get started on my bags. Any chance another viewer has itemized the bags in a shopping list of sorts yet? Otherwise I plan to watch again and make my own spreadsheet
love your idea, my bob recently has been stole. I'm doing some research and inspired some ideas from others. like your... I'm plan to make it more better than i used to have. By the way, where do you get those bags? Also I have subscribe to your videos :)
Just a thought here. but you should look into buying a bullet resistant gas cap or whatever they are called. one that you can lock so no one can steal gas without picking or breaking the lock. it might be more of a hassle when filling up but if I had your fj Id feel more comfortable in a bug out situation knowing my gas wont be siphoned.
I love how everyone comments like there an expert saying you need to test all this time proven gear. Sick suv with a great set up, love the color. Are you thinking about getting some kc lights or a winch, it would look sick if nothing else.
I own a 2013 FJ Cruiser, that everyone wants to buy from me. I have a pouch setup attached to the back of my driver seat. I have a lot of trauma gear packed such as tourniquets and. Chest seals, but need to finish it out. Is Walmart a good place to shop?
Does the smaller fuel tank of the FJ bother you to the point of buying a long range tank? My buddy has a base model with the 72 litre tanks, and he's stopping at every pump when he goes cross country. I think the newest ones have the optional 86 litre long range tank at a good price.
I recommend upgrading your rifle to a 223 they are much more powerful. Just saying no hate😊 I love the way the pouches hang on the side of the door excellent idea so it doesn't use up space in the trunk👍🏻
From the top...I want you to understand that I say this with the heart of a teacher (not outdoor skills but in general) and someone whom himself who is always also learning... You have some very nice kits there and a nice vehicle...but at first brush it seems to me that you have not spent very much dirt time with those kits. I could be ever so wrong... Many of those items looked like they had never been tested to see if they function properly (very important to do BEFORE you are in a SHTF moment). Also with that much stuff it is very difficult to find all those little items stuffed down in those little bags in a stress filled situation. You should check out how an ambulance is packed some time... They pack all their packs very strategically and in the same order every trip so every item always has it's little place, order is the rule of the day. Often you may find on the inside of container lids photos of the contents because people on an ambulance or fire crew are under stress to the max when in operation. Pouches are clear or color coded in a system or with big obvious symbols. Another thing on a vehicle kit I see missing which may be in part 2 or something is tools and supplies for the vehicle. Gas,Oil,Coolant,Small Air Compressor, Tow Strap,Jumper Cables, a jack, etc. To me I want to keep my kits light and minimal, even in my car because the heat in the parking lot is going to eat the items up over time sitting in the vehicle. Even an MRE will have a much shorter shelf life locked in a truck in a parking lot ... Just read about it online. I recommend a challenge for you... I did this and it was eye opening... Use your go bag or car kit to do as much as possible in your daily life over the next 30 days and see how that works out... I used mine to eat my meals, perform many of my job functions, sharpen my blades, start fires, and many other things during that time. That exercise taught me what items were essential and what was dead weight and needed to go... I also did the same thing on my EDC. If you make an honest examination of yourself rather than focusing on me you will improve your preparedness because of my constructive criticism. All the best wishes!
Get rid of that electronic water purifier. That thing is a failure just waiting to happen! Get something like a Sawyer Squeeze. It is a "mechanical" water filter, meaning it actually filters water. The only way it can fail is if it gets clogged, and then you just clean it out. Do you ever go backpacking? I would really suggest you go try it, or go live out of your car for 2 to 3 days. You need to test this gear out. The fact you have so much of it, sorry to say, I can tell you've never actually used it, or you would realize that some of it (like the cheap energizer lights and low power Motorola radios) are junky, and 3/4 of it you don't need. BTW, ziplock baggies are NOT water proof. The only thing they really do well is hold the water right next to your electronics once they've leaked.
Good video but you have to many wants that take up space and weight.... like coffee and altoids and two many doubles and triples of things. good video tho
I've watched all of your videos, great set up but I gotta say you are travelling really heavy and really are almost over prepped.......you gotta run anywhere on foot you aren't getting too far with all that gear, too many luxury and redundant items......also your pretty light on first aid gear....
Almost forgot. Just a heads up and a personal opinion. I wanted to let you know that the two decals "zombie outbreak response team" and "walking dead daryl" you have on the rear glass of the FJ could be a give-away to somebody in the know. I like how the bags fit inside the door panel. Good idea
AWESOME truck. I'm surprised you don't have off road lights on it yet. The FJ platform is one of my favorite body styles.
Better to have something that you do not need than to need something you do not have .Good kit thanks for sharing ATB and God bless you
Right.. so, three years later. The world hasn't come to end. Have you used anything of this, or is it still a bunch of shiny stuff in unopened containers?
I see you are well prepared, can't wait to see the FJ on proper offroad tyres like I suggested :)
still the most coprehensive BOV video on UA-cam :) while I do agree with some that you carry more than I ever would BUT huge respect for the organization and detail you've gone to. would love to see another update!
Very sweet gear man! Thank you for sharing. Probably a little much for what I would do personally but really got some good ideas and info from your video.

nice bugout gear you did a great job on it

very well thought out, and awesome organization. you can save some space in your food pouch by putting the ezbit fuel tabs inside the stove while its closed!
You should look into the ENO hammocks, they are extremely small and can be carried in almost anything
Hey I just wanted to let you know; while the weather forecasting, animal tracks, and pro-knot pocket guides are handy; the SAS survival guide has all of that in it. That way you could spread your booklets to other vehicles or bug-to locations. Very nice series. I found many new items to research about. Thanks.
I wish I was this organized. My bugout Jeep just has all the stuff thrown in the back.
nice , looks awesome .cant wait to see the tires you get .
Love the truck! I got mine decked out with a bike rack on the trailer hitch for my Bicycle and got free maps of states and biking trails by emailing the state's tourist bureau.
Now that's a good video....well done my friend
great video and good ideas!
add a p38 or p51 canopener and a uncle bills sliver gripper tweezers to your bag. small and compact easy to carry and use
It is mentioned in the video. springtailsolutions is the company
Cool video. What brand are those bags?
Where you get the name tapes from? Good job love the organization.

Looks like OPSAK makes bags that don't leak odors. Could try that.
What company makes the collapsible bowl and cup or just where you got it, that would be very helpful. Thanks.
Nice car kit where do u get your name tags from
Great vids. I watched all 3 bug out and get home bag videos today. I've got a 2012 FJ too and want to get started on my bags. Any chance another viewer has itemized the bags in a shopping list of sorts yet? Otherwise I plan to watch again and make my own spreadsheet
No q-tips in the hygiene pouch? Plus couldn't your massive signaling mirror double for the redundant shaving mirror you packed?
coming soon! thanks bud!
mention it in video! I get them from a seller on ebay and a local army navy store. Thanks!!
love your idea, my bob recently has been stole. I'm doing some research and inspired some ideas from others. like your... I'm plan to make it more better than i used to have.
By the way, where do you get those bags? Also I have subscribe to your videos :)
Great video. Do you have a link for those bags? Thanks
Any chance you can do another update on this series for 2018?
where could i get one of those Strike Force fire starters?
how do you store all that stuff in all weather types meaning hot and cold wont it all go bad ??
where did you obtain the mounting racks and how are the velcro/hook and loop pieces attaached?
Doesn't your candle melt in the summer?
Just a thought here. but you should look into buying a bullet resistant gas cap or whatever they are called. one that you can lock so no one can steal gas without picking or breaking the lock. it might be more of a hassle when filling up but if I had your fj Id feel more comfortable in a bug out situation knowing my gas wont be siphoned.
All they would have to do is cut the fuel line...
If you have to leave your vehicle how are you gonna carry so many bags? What about cooking on the esbit stove no utensils?
I love how everyone comments like there an expert saying you need to test all this time proven gear. Sick suv with a great set up, love the color. Are you thinking about getting some kc lights or a winch, it would look sick if nothing else.
Where did you get those bags from? I want one.
springtailsolutions.com
Buggingin Awesome, thanks.
+Buggingin I have the first gen rear door molle rack. Great products!
We're can I buy those molla attachment for my vehicle panel walls ?

How do you boil water
In a pot
where did you get the velcro bags

Jerry cans/rotopax on the roof solves alot of problems. The cost and reliability concerns with adding a larger or aux tank are huge.
Like that u took off your lic plate lol
Good for you, but a bit extremely for my taste, nonetheless fun to watch.
What is your job
I recommend upgrading your rifle to a 223 they are much more powerful. Just saying no hate😊 I love the way the pouches hang on the side of the door excellent idea so it doesn't use up space in the trunk👍🏻
the bear grylls sharpener will ruin the scandi grind on the mora.

Oh cool
THANKS

Why Toyota?
I must say I love the idea of your bug out vehicle yet I dislike how you only cover you what about wife/kids
Food bag needs a light of some sort the other three bags talk a lot of trash about their lights
I'm want this type of truck/jeep but very expensive.. would buy something 10+ old but I'm not handy at all
Good video but you have to many wants that take up space and weight.... like coffee and altoids and two many doubles and triples of things. good video tho
Whose still here in 2024?
no peanut butter ?......
have 7 gallons of water in your car and maybe gas if you want also 1 gallon of bleach for water purification
I love the idea! I just hate the actual Toyota fj, to me that cars just a rip off of a jeep wrangler
are you single or have family? this is for 1 guy right? its super cool
No stickers on your vehicle... Opsec/comsec.. Don't give away anything...
Thats not a truck
I've watched all of your videos, great set up but I gotta say you are travelling really heavy and really are almost over prepped.......you gotta run anywhere on foot you aren't getting too far with all that gear, too many luxury and redundant items......also your pretty light on first aid gear....
?
He
Where did you get the Velcro moll e panels?
