- Calgary Transit Northeast LRT cab ride run on an overcast fall day. McKnight Westwinds to Westend downtown. Shot in 2010. Opened on April 27, 1985 to the Whitehorn Station. The 202 route has since expanded from Saddletowne in the NE to 69th Street in the SW.
This was during an interesting transition period for Calgary Transit. The four-car station project was well underway, the SW LRT project was well under construction and new rolling stock were arriving, Siemens SD-100 and SD-160 train sets were running on the lines.

This video is amazing. I really enjoyed the ride into the city and the view of the city as the cab made its approach. I like how one street was devoted to mass transit, now that was very unique.
FUN FACT: The railway crossing at 8:33 used to have a rare Safetran Type 1 E-Bell but it was sadly replaced when the older signals there were replaced with the newer signals.
This video takes place before the older signals at that crossing were replaced.
This is one of the only footage we have of clear look at Olympic Plaza, thank you for uploading this!
It looked so much better than City Hall does now.
Footage like this are really handy at showing you reasons why to never bother visiting somewhere like that .. phew!
I'm not really a fan of Calgary either but why would you say that what makes you not like it
Canadia/en development occured chiefly after WWII, and Calgary is just one of the federation's many losses to ever crooked, cleptoparasitic Corporateria that came to the fore as of the Forties -- I mean, just look at it with its plastic legacy it flippantly tries hawking, fuck... :brrrRrr:
Cool video. I love train cab ride videos. Especially ones on transit systems.
Calgary is spread all over the place. There's enough vacant land within the present city limits to build another complete city! The little towns of Midnapore, Montgomery, Bowness, and many more were swallowed up by Calgary's insatiable appetite for more land. Got to stop sometime.
Enjoyed this video very much...I drove Tube Trains in London UK in the late 70s.
I wonder what this would look like now that the Western Line has been finished.
And yes, this IS amazing.
Would be cool if you could take an updated video with the new stations. My 4yo would love that! 😉
Can you please redo this line from Saddletown to 69th St. and then do the redline from Tuscany to Somerset?
I enjoyed this, thank you!
wish we had something like this in Cornwall Ontario
we will
sala adel what do you mean we will I live in Canada
hey i benn there since 2011 on that train when 1 was 17 years older
very enjoyable!
Did it last year doing again this year and hopping for many more
How about making an updated video of the completed LRT lines from end to end? A lot has changed in four years.
I guess it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to watch newly released movies online?
@Lennox Trey Flixportal :P
@Lennox Hunter Thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!

Can you get another ctrain video on the blue line please, in 2018
big difference now that construction is done.
BEEN THERE IN 2006-2007 AND 2007
i am 15 years old today
哇塞~这到底是轻快铁,还是动车组?怎么轻快铁能够跑出220PhK的速度?
Wow ~ This in the end is the LRT, or EMU? How LRT can run out of speed 220PhK?
There is no SD-100s in Calgary. These trains that you mean are Siemens Duewag U2 cars.
You're right, not SD-100 but SD-160 in use with Calgary Transit as well as new S200 trains.
Hi

Looks like shit, now. Need the train underground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugly train interfering with the traffic and bad planning on part of city of Calgary. LRT should run underground or above ground like Vancouver has a sky train but Calgary shit train is running on the sidewalk.
