  • Residents of eastern Wake County, local officials, and future students got their first look at Wake Tech’s newest location in Wendell.
    Wake Tech East officially opened on Thursday, April 25 with food, fanfare, and fun! The 106-acre site is located off Rolesville Road at I-87. Wake Tech East will offer university transfer degrees and specialized programs, in engineering, public safety and aviation. Future programs include biopharmaceutical technology, additive manufacturing, mechatronics, robotics and automation.

    Wake Tech is amping up its electric vehicle training, thanks to a National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education grant totaling more than $600,000.
    U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, along with Wake Tech dignitaries toured the Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence at the Scott Northern Wake Campus to showcase Wake Tech’s commitment to automotive and EV training.
    The project, named Curriculum Integration in Training EVs will jump-start a new advanced certificate program that will train automotive students how to safely maintain and repair electric and hybrid vehicles in the fast-growing EV field.

    More than 750 local business and community leaders gathered at the Raleigh Convention Center for the seventh-annual "Wake Tech IGNITE" event.
    The celebratory afternoon showcased the college and its mission of transforming lives. Hosted by the Wake Tech Foundation, this year's theme was "Heroes in the Hallway," highlighting the many ways in which students, faculty, staff and partners in the community make a difference every day.

    A record crowd of nearly 1,500 prospective students and their families explored and saw the many educational opportunities Wake Tech has to offer at Open House.
    Held at the Scott Northern Wake and Perry Health Sciences campuses on a picture-perfect spring day, prospective students explored the college's academic programs and learned about the admissions process, financial aid options and student support resources.

    More than 200 Wake Tech students in Engineering-150: Intro to Engineering took part in an innovative competition that really got the wheels turning!
    48 teams took part in the spring Rube Goldberg competition on the Southern Wake Campus. Students had to design and build an intricate machine that, once started, would run autonomously and progress through a minimum of five distinct steps that applied various principles of physics - gravity, force, mechanics, magnetism, sound waves, light and/or electricity - and end with the popping of a balloon.

    A group of Wake Tech students have returned from a life-changing study abroad experience in Rome.
    Fourteen students in World Civilizations I traveled to Rome over spring break. For many students, the Study Abroad trip brought what they were learning in class to life.
