எனக்குத் தெரிந்த வரையில் இளையராஜா அவர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து பணிபுரிந்த வரையில் பிரபல இயக்குனர் அனைவரும் வளமையாக இருந்தனர். இளையராஜா அவர்கள் பிரிந்த பின்னர் அவர்கள் அனைவரும் பணம் பெயர் புகழ் என் அனைத்தையும் இழந்தனர் என்பது உண்மையே. தீவிர இசையமைப்பிலிருந்து இசைஞானி ஒதுங்கிய 1995ம் ஆண்டுக்குப் பிறகு இசையில் இருந்து இனிமை ஒதுங்கி விட்டது. தமிழர்களுக்கும் இனிய இசை எட்டாத கனியாகிப்போனது.

அதான் பாலசந்தர் படம் இல்லாமல் உட்கார்ந்து இருந்தார். இந்த கரு. பழனியப்பன் உளறுவதை என்றுதான் நிறுத்த போற்றறோரோ. எண்ட கர்த்தாவே. இளையராஜா பேரை சொன்னாலே எல்லோரும் வந்து என்ன எது என்று படிப்பதுதான் இளையராஜாவின் வெற்றி.
Friends, there is a sad story behind this issue. Puthu puthu arthangal was the last movie KB and IR worked together. Since IR was busy with other projects, the re-recording for Puthu puthu arthangal could not be done on time. KB was not willing to wait. So he himself selected some re-recording notes from his old films composed by IR and added them in Puthu puthu arthangal. You can watch this in the movie Puthu puthu arthangal. Not only IR, anybody would have become wild with this kind of an insult. No wonder, IR refused to work with KB anymore. The sad truth is after leaving IR, KB could not find an equal replacement. He introduced Maragathamani and worked with him for three movies. Then came ARR, but IR was irreplaceable till the end. The same is the case with Bharathiraja also. There may be many music directors, but the involvement and dedication Raja contributes for a movie is real devotion.

Trend changes. Now it has been the end of ARR... Since 2010. Others came and scored. Trend changes.
But still Raja is the best.

It is clear that Mr. Palaniappan is very sarcastic towards isai gnani though he appears to praise him! Bharathiraja could make unknown faces such as Sudhakar, Vijayan, Bhagiyaraj as heros mainly because of the backing he had from Raaja's songs + bgm. Same true for Ramarajan, who survived mainly because of maestro's music/songs. I recently watched Puthu Puthu Arthangal, only to experience IR's songs + BGM - in many places BGM didn't have IR's signature - even I was getting mad - could not imagine how mad IR would have been. It is Raaja who said he wouldn't do films for KB any more, not the other way around.
Directors such as KB, Bharathiraaja, Mani Ratnam, Bhagiyaraj may have loved Raaja, had he favored them instead of less known and budding directors - for Raaja, every one is same. Can anyone believe Raaja didn't want any compensation for the music he gave in panneer pushpangal movie? Later directors Bharathi and P. Vaasu insisted that he took 15,000 as compensation after movie became hit! (this was narrated by them both). For mudhal mariyadai too he refused as he didn't like the movie at first (revealed by R. Selvaraj, story writer) and yet, what a musical treat it was! Show anyone (including IR's own sons) who could work with that attitude/dedication and encourage budding talents and not care about money? And IR hasn't spoken one word about all these (that he worked without taking any pay and his own brother & close friend had cheated him in cassette business & royalties and so on). Raaja is in a league of his own, NO ONE including oscar winner, can even dream of reaching that high.

100% true. I watched Vaidehi KathirundAL two days ago - what a musical treat! Not just songs, but BGMs (especially when Revathy's father appears) also would transport us to another world. No wonder many in the tamil movie industry are jealous of his talent and fame and back stab him whenever/wherever possible. Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada industry have a lot more respect for him. Sun doesn't need any praise (like gayatri mantra), it'd continue to give us all the benefits day in and day out - we do it to express our gratitude - IR is like the sun giving music day in and day out be it a famous director or a newbie.

ILLAYARAJA CHANGED TAMIL FILM INDUSTRY FROM SONG BASED COMPOSING TO FILM SCORING (BACKGROUND SCORING). BALACHANDER & MANIRATHNAM BROUGHT THE SONG BASED MOVIES BACK WITH AR RAHMAN. A PITY, NOW AGAIN WE ARE BACK IN SONG BASED MOVIES AS OF BEFORE 80's.

Ilayaraja and balachander friction happened during pudhu pudhu arthangal movie. Entire movie music was almost done only 2 or 3 scenes bgm left and ilayaraja was very busy with commitments. Balachander asked few times, but raja sir said will start immedialtely after free, due to delay balachander used existing music from the songs and other scenes and filled the bgm and announced the release, knowing this ilayaraja was upset and said u want my name but dont want my music and they separated.

I think Karu.Palaniappan neither insulted Ilayaraja here nor insinuated that KB created Ilayaraja. I know Karu.Palaniappan is a huge fan of Ilayaraja and he would never speak something bad about Ilayaraja. He just wanted to praise KB and he used certain incidents in support of it. It is true that KB broke the norm by directing/producing 3 movies with 3 other music directors which all turned out to be hits when it was generally believed that for a movie to be hit, it has to have music by Ilayaraja. Such was the dominance of Ilayaraja in the music industry. Now it is true that there has never been another composer in the league of Ilayaraja in Indian movie history but Karu is referring to commercial viability which is a fact. He is not saying Raja lost his clout after KB made those 3 movies. He is simply saying that KB proved that it is possible to give hits without Ilayaraja and that is a fact.
Raja fans, by now, should know that there is no person in the world who is qualified enough to say anything negative about Ilayaraja the musician. Even now, people who bash him talk only about his “lack of humility” which is nonsense. Raja is actually truly humble unlike some others who fake humility as a PR exercise. There was Sankar-Ganesh, TR, Chandrabose, Manoj Gyaan etc. Here, Karu is talking as if KB was waiting to give IR the chance AFTER coming up with a strong script! KB had to approach IR coz' MSV's chart was on the decline long time ago! It was high time he left him for IR. So, it had to happen with Sindhu Bhairavi. Also, Karu is saying as if KB left IR. NO. It was KB who did not give IR his space as a composer during the re-recording of Pudhu pudhu arthangal. So, IR refused to work with someone who did not want his work but his name alone for the credits. KB who was already not happy that IR music was more appreciated than his movies. So, the breakup happened. Later, Mani Ratnam joins his camp happily. They all thought that IR would fall after the 90's! But IR is steel-willed, he is still happily composing in 2018! Roja and Annamalai team first approached IR only for music, it is not KB announcement to work without IR, only IR refused to work... By the way IR completed 1k...(there is a reason why IR refused)
KB & Maniratnam decided to make a film without ilaiyaraja.result is a.r.rahman.in an interview ilaiyaraja told that KB got songs and waiting for re recording .later he decided to complete the film with other music director.hence ilaiyaraja didn't want to part of ANNAMALAI.
But once Mani left Raja his career was nearly over except alaipayithey.Rate of success was 90% with Raja but with ARR it was just Roja and alaipayithey
