String bending is a great way to bring your guitar licks to life and improve your improvisation skills.
In this lesson we focus on applying string bends to the minor pentatonic scale, using various "bend points" as approach positions.
By thinking in terms of the target pitch of your bend, you'll create more musical, expressive phrases in your guitar solos. By following the process in this lesson you'll find navigating your way around the neck easier and you'll build your finger strength in the process.
Plus, these exercises are a great way to stretch out new strings so they hold their tuning better!

"it's not so important where you start your bend, rather hitting the target with accuracy and purpose." MAN THIS IS MORE THAN JUST GUITAR ADVICE!! THIS IS LIFE WISDOM! it's like it doesn't matter where you start, but where you're end ur journey with purpose

Check out the graphic @ 5:50 which shows a nifty 2 string repeating pattern over 3 string sets; gets you 3 octaves of the same scale, and offers a few of the demonstrated bend points such as the flat 7 to 1, etc,, very cool! Also would note that a knowledge of the octave shapes fits in very well with this lesson as it helps remembering how you are rising or falling as you move on the fretboard. The meat in this lesson can move a amateurish solo into the pro class, if the instruction is diligently applied and played with in several keys, Many Thanks for the value demonstrated so aptly here!

QUICK OVERVIEW OF THIS GREAT LESSON:
Best places to bend on minor pentatonic scales
    Whole note bends
    flat 7 to the 1
    4 to the 5
    flat 3 to 4
The next bottom 4 are outside the minor pentatonic scale but they still work well.
    1 to 2 (whole step)
2 to flat 3 (half step)
4 to flat 5 (blues note)
    flat 3 to 3
The next two are one and a half step bends so they are harder to bend.
1 to flat 3 (minor 3) bend only on strings 2 and 4
5 to flat 7 (minor 3) bend only on third string
Think of them as target pitches. It's not so important where you start your bend, rather hitting the target with accuracy and purpose. Actually, in general that's a good rule of thumb in life. Cheers!
