Even if the film was untrue, there’s a point that the movie was trying to make. It was never supposed be about Facebook. The movie is about greed, selfishness, power, and friendship. It’s not trying to tell the story of how Facebook was made, it’s trying to tell a story about someone who’s trying to convince himself he’s not a bad person but is constantly killing every single relationship he comes in contact with.
it's not about greed. it's stated multiple times in the film that zuckerberg doesn't care or know anything about money. which isn't even true about the real mark zuckerberg, so the fact that they fabricated that detail pretty clearly shows that they're not trying to cast him as greedy. his character is supposed to be egotistical and superficial, not greedy.

Aha! See now you are justifying Zuckerberg fucking him over, instead of arguing that he didn't fuck him over, you are now arguing why he did! Just because he isn't the guy writing code doesn't mean he didn't do anything, if it was all about the people who literally built it then the Winklevoss twins wouldn't have got any money from FB either. Plus you say less than $20k as though that is a tiny amount of money, but without that $20k of expenses would the company have even got off the ground? That's a good size of money for a new business to build on, without that it might never have happened at all, so really from that you could argue that Saverin deserved more. If he felt the company was progressing well under Mark's guidance why would he have to stay with them anyway? He provided the money for people with the creativity to build a good product on, both of them needed what the other provided, so it's ridiculous to say he did nothing. Plus even if it were true that Saverin did nothing (which it clearly isn't), does that still make it fine to fuck over a friend? He didn't think to talk to Eduardo about his contribution first before stabbing him in the back? Just face it; whether Saverin's contribution was as big or small as either of us think it could have been, the fact remains that Zuckerberg absolutely fucked over his friend. You're totally right... This movie captured the way Facebook impacts humanity in 2010, when the impact was not that obvious. Brilliant and visionary work.
Does Mark Zuckerberg really think that David Fincher & Aaron Sorkin would tell a story without the real details? I mean, David Fincher is a perfectionist so I wouldn’t think this film wouldn’t be far from the real events.
Jacob Elijah Unica i think that when you refer to his perfectionism, his perfectionism only extends to cinema and not exactly telling the truth, telling the truth and telling a story are two different things
Asoiaf79 Rdr/43 I disagree. His perfectionism shines in both cinema and history. As a perfectionist I think he sees it fit to tell the story with truth. If that wasn’t the case, they wouldn’t have tried to perfectly recreate every crime scene in Zodiac. As for the Social Network, it wasn’t 100% accurate due to the lack of available info. However, both Sorkin and Fincher went above and beyond in crafting the story to make it as accurate as humanly possible. I mean Sorkin went as so far to interview Natalie Portman who went to Harvard at the time to grasp the effect ‘The Facebook’ had on the campus. I’m sure the film isn’t too far off from what actually happened.
He claims he is married to the same girl but those live journal and the AIM chat logs the movie didn’t even reference, are all true. It wasn’t Erica Albright but it was someone else in the original blogs. Mark is full of it. Everyone in 2004 wanted to get laid. Harvard was filled with pretentious human beings who always think they are better when really so few “make it” out of that club.
The Social Network was a magnificent film, and it explains and showcases out time we live in. Mark Zuckerberg (real) is a intelligent, and visionary of a man who wanted to make something out of an idea that the Winklevosses would have done nothing with. Social Netowrk is a film, and is for entertainment sakes if you want a 100% cut dry story watch 20/20
The movie did play on the three different stories told during testimonies. It gives the audience the freedom of choosing who is right solely based on the accurate portrayal of characters. Most people thought mark was lying because he was a dick, and they thought Eduardo was a telling the truth because he seemed like a nice guy.
Exactly, in the film he builds that Face-Smash site in order to take his mind off Erica, implying it's something he enjoys to the point where he can lose himself in it. The reason he continues building and goes onto create Facebook isn't to impress anybody, it's because he feels he NEEDS to build it. Erica isn't some half-assed explanation as to why he did it all, really all she is is a representation of Mark's connection to normal life, and how it gets lost along the way.
The Social Network is a great movie, and I would imagine there is a lot of truth to it. Regardless of why Mark wanted to create Facebook, the most powerful impact of the movie is his personality. His arrogant and superior attitude is what people will remember most from it.
I mean…does he not have a right to be arrogant and superior if he literally is a genius who created a multi billion dollar company? He literally IS superior. I wonder if he looked and acted like Brad Pitt if you would feel the same way… 🤔
A few lame jokes and talk about how Hollywood changed the least important part of the story... Question dodging at it's finest. All that "intelligence" and he doesn't realize that the movie completely exposed him for the weasel that he is
+Jack Carlos do you know him? i mean personally. what do you know him besides you watched a movie? jesus christ people you're so sick. you feel so little and your life feels so pointless that you have to hate someone you don't even know. it's a joke.
Gábor Bankó Apparently you do - sorry strike such a chord! All I want is the truth. Clearly he is a genius, but there are a lot of unknowns that he doesn't clarify. I think he is kind of shady - probably stepped on a lot of people to get to the top. What's sick is that people idolize this guy just because he has a billion dollars.
On one hand I do feel bad that this huge movie portrayed him in a lot of negative ways that weren't true, but on the other hand it's a little hard to care about such an injustice happening to such a crappy person. Wonderful movie either way.
Man, him suggesting the films depictions are wrong could not be more ironic... His condescending comment to those in the film industry is literally the Zuckerberg in the film, but worse.
One thing social network did absolutely right was to tell us how smart he is. I have seen his many interviews and he always manges to outsmart the questioner
Mark is a genius, nobody has doubts about it… but outsmart the question? You only outsmart a question when you dodge the bullet without anyone realizing it… everybody knows his answer was stupid because The Social Network was about how he betrayed Eduardo, not about how Facebook was created… reporters just don’t like to push it with the questions eventhough they know they are getting a BS answer
@@cjebediah8837 while that’s true, you’re neglecting that AOC is also extremely smart. First time seeing this. As much as I love the movie, I'm fully awared it IS a movie, not even documentary. So of cource it's more about drama than facts. But actually seeing the movie I can feel how Mark the character "like building things", just from how ambitious he's about expanding, or how defensive & protective about it. It's his work and might even want it to be a legacy, doesn't matter if it's initially just for fun or such.
I thought Eisenberg was doing an over the top impression of a neurotic smart guy but after hearing Zuckerberg talk I realize what a fatal error I have made.
david fincher added the story lines to make the movie more interesting and so we could relate to the char better, with the whole social concept and whatnot. the thing i liked about mark in the movie portrayed by jesse was that he was borderline apathetic and neutral, however he was the builder.
yeah that's what I liked the most about Mark's character as well, the fact that he was almost a silent observer being influenced by his peers rather than actually making his own decisions
Rachel Kim Those storylines were actually true though, Jessica Alona is the girl whose name was changed in the film. He's lying here, also film is fuckin excellent isn't it? Damn David Fincher, if he finched my ass I wouldn't mind.

Bravo, Zuck. I guess its the same concept that was alluded to in the film, that *if they could actually comprehend the motivation behind great creators, then they would be creating something and not sensationalizing drama where there is none*.
Love how he immediately says the ''The most interesting thing they got wrong was the girlfriend at the beginning'' So you admit to screwing over business partners and your own best friend.
What the fuck does it matter if he dated a girlfiriend before he made facebook? Erica Albright dumps him in the movie before he made facebook and is a reason he made FaceMash, not FB. Plus, if that's the only real big difference between the movie and what actually happened, than it means that fucking over the Winklevoss twins and Eduardo was all true man...
For all you talking about the fact that he didn't mention how it actually went down with Eduardo and the Winkelvoss Twins... I'm pretty sure he legally can't comment on anything that happened as far how the legal proceedings with that went down, which would include his version of screwing them over. And also the girlfriend point is important. The entire movie revolves around the idea that Marc, while intelligent and creative, is still incredibly insecure as a result of his social awkwardness/getting dumped/not getting into the Phoenix and that's why he creates the Facebook. And if Marc is saying that isn't the case, then that's a huge fucking discrepancy.
Valerie Karina Well he might've gone into more details in this interview, but unfortunately the clip is only a minute long. I bet there were questions about that.
i trust his response here for real. i think he programed for fun and he might have been awkward and a bit slimy but not that evil. say what you want about it
You can google "Zuckerburg dumb fucks" or read www.businessinsider.com/how-mark-zuckerberg-booted-his-co-founder-out-of-the-company-2012-5. Especially the bits about "dirty tricks used by Peter Thiel" and "Is there a way to do this without making it painfully apparent to him that he's being diluted to 10%?". Seems more than a bit slimy...
A movie about a guy who just likes to build things doesn’t really make for a compelling narrative.. of course they’d have to fabricate some of the details to make it more interesting and give his character motivation and if it works in the context of the story, so what if it’s not entirely accurate. It’s a film it’s supposed to be entertaining.
the movie may have been untrue on some levels...but it SURE AS HELL was amazing regardless!!! (and the filmmakers and actors attempt to describe the movie as being it's own story, not exactly "based off a true story")
It is very weird when you think abut this movie. I mean how many biopics actually come out during the main character's life-time? This is one of the few instances where you can actually hear what they thought about the film.
If Mark has been "dumped a lot" then how has he been dating the same girl since before he started FaceBook? Is he talking about a girl he asked to the school dance in the 5th Grade?
@RadicalEntity I edit video, so I know exactly what you are talking about it. It isn't that the video isn't true, but it's a subjective reality. For example, if I'm switching between cameras, and someone walks across the room, I can cut it as if that person was never there. What ends up in the final version is completely true, and yet not. Micheal Moore is a great example of that. He never utters an untrue word, and yet he can make you believe things that aren't real.

@@franjay5585 sure because Mind Hunter wasn't almost perfectly historical.
Harvard was filled with pretentious human beings who always think they are better when really so few “make it” out of that club.
strawman
It's not that filmmakers can't accept that fact. It's that films aren't good if they obey that fact.
All that "intelligence" and he doesn't realize that the movie completely exposed him for the weasel that he is
The movie definitely showed he is smart. But he is a weasel. Notice how he is all alone at the end of the movie? No friends, girlfriend, etc.
but thatis incorrect as he says he has been dating the same girl so he did have someone
+Jack Carlos Do you think it's worried him?
TLDW: the movie portrayed him accurately.
TLDW means?
@@MCart1215 too long didn't watch
@@ieatkids03 Really?
@@MCart1215 yes that is what it means
Of course he’s going to say it isn’t accurate. He wants to seem friendly and not monstrous
case in point. thank you for proving the film's accuracy.
How did he do that?
One thing social network did absolutely right was to tell us how smart he is. I have seen his many interviews and he always manges to outsmart the questioner
Mark is a genius, nobody has doubts about it… but outsmart the question? You only outsmart a question when you dodge the bullet without anyone realizing it… everybody knows his answer was stupid because The Social Network was about how he betrayed Eduardo, not about how Facebook was created… reporters just don’t like to push it with the questions eventhough they know they are getting a BS answer
@@cjebediah8837 that was probably due to an immense amount of pressure tho. Did you see the picture with all the cameras in front of him
@@MCart1215 point proven
@@cjebediah8837 while that’s true, you’re neglecting that AOC is also extremely smart. She may not be a programming wizard and business genius like Zuck, but she’s a genius with political maneuvering and public speaking in front of the cameras which mark is not. There’s a reason why she managed to rise up from bartending to winning a minor congressional district and being a congresswoman who’s arguably more famous than decades-long heavyweights like Pelosi and Maxine Waters.
100% true Ashsan
Let me tell u something, HE IS MARK. MARK ZUKERBERG. He can literally do any - as he found the FB.
Also, he is that intelligent - who can f8ck the professors on Computer Fundamentals.
So better lets respect him.
He deserve recognition and in the 1st scene - that erica - she literally is a bull shit. I myself would behave worse than mark. So Its fine. Look at that scene with Subtitles. You will understand.
Always people should understand others. especially when other person is this much world level intelligent.
Also MARK comes to ask SORRY. OK. ITS MARK Who comes for SORRY. THAT GIRL IS REALLY A BITCH.
I too faced such in my life. Can relate with MARK.
"People who make multi-million-dollar, enormous-scale pieces of art over and over again with the help of giant media corporations could NEVER understand people who like building things." Got it, Mark. You're the most special boy of all.
Amazing how he said so much but so little
He sounded exactly like Mark in the movie while he was talking to the lawyers and didn’t even realize
No
First time seeing this.
Haha yea he played him to a t
Erica Albright Does exicist
Alex O'Toole they use a different name her real name is Jessica Alonso I think
In red dead redemption 2 there's a bounty with the last name Albright hes the guy that kills people with his medicine
@@gonzogorriliaz3460 Jessica Alonso is a bitch
What’s her real name
david fincher added the story lines to make the movie more interesting and so we could relate to the char better, with the whole social concept and whatnot. the thing i liked about mark in the movie portrayed by jesse was that he was borderline apathetic and neutral, however he was the builder.
yeah that's what I liked the most about Mark's character as well, the fact that he was almost a silent observer being influenced by his peers rather than actually making his own decisions
Rachel Kim Those storylines were actually true though, Jessica Alona is the girl whose name was changed in the film. He's lying here, also film is fuckin excellent isn't it? Damn David Fincher, if he finched my ass I wouldn't mind.
Rachel Kim Also entirely separate, you're mad cute.
This movies screenwriter is Aaron Sorkin.
The joke he told in the beginning was persuasive. Made him seem like he was a good sport and nothing like the character in the movie
What?
@@Mentis-de He makes a joke that criticizes himself without criticizing his own character. Immediately we assume that he is a good sport, without him addressing the moral criticism against him in the film
Youd think he'd want to use this time to refute or clarify the claims that he stole the idea from the Winklevoss twins....
But nope. Guess that part is 100% true.
Or cut out his friend and initial investor from shares at the end....those are the parts Id want to explain to the public if I was innocent...
Hes not aloud 2
I mean technically the twins wanted a Harvard exclusive social network and Mark wanted something bigger so is it stealing 🤔
@@TretheZeldaFan it really is. Technically my kid thought lemonade stands were stupid and he was going to start a small pineapple juice stand, so he hires your kid who knows all about pineapples to help and instead your kid starts selling Pineapple juice in all the neighborhoods in the entire town so did your kid really steal my kid's idea? Yes. It is still stealing.

Congratulations David Fincher and Jesse Eisenberg for him only to show how much you have portrayed the exact character of Zuckerberg
sometimes when i want to get mad (or just remind myself even the most successful people can be unbelievably stupid) i watch this video
Yes, yes, yes!!! thank you! That's why I went to college for 10 years! Because I love creating, and wanted to become a machine learning engineer.
It's funny how he went from this to the robotic mark we know today
You can tell, he was avoiding the question if he had actually diluted his friends shares down to that much. He instead answered about why he made Facebook
Why did they made look Zuckerberg as an emotionless asshole in the movie? Now that i realize,Jesse Eisenberg never smiled in the film.
He did, but it was mostly smirks rather then genuine smiles.
1997residente I remember seeing an interview with Eisenberg after I saw TSN, and I thought it looked weird when he smiled, bc I never saw him do that before, lol.
1997residente Because he is, this is after he started mining our data and learned about being human.
so the only thing they got wrong was how he got the idea. interesting.
I've never seen him be so... Human
Movie was solid. Even if parts were untrue it still portrayed marks personality correctly on the surface
1:47 lizard initiated
I've never seen him act so human. Maybe he had his double fill in
Bravo, Zuck. I guess its the same concept that was alluded to in the film, that *if they could actually comprehend the motivation behind great creators, then they would be creating something and not sensationalizing drama where there is none*.
Love how he immediately says the ''The most interesting thing they got wrong was the girlfriend at the beginning''
So you admit to screwing over business partners and your own best friend.
Nah someone else’s best friend…
Now I'm more convinced that what's shown in the movie is what actually happened
Meanwhile Erica Albright is crying beacuse Marl doesn't remember her
Omar Minhaj Her name in real life is Jessica Alona, and yeah she probably is.
Good point. He also doesn't understand that they were making a dramatic movie not a documentary.
The social network: Portrays Zuckerberg as an apathetic kid that screwed his friend.
Zuckerberg: “Yeah so the part with the girl was inaccurate.”
Łukasz Polak Something went down or else he wouldn't have had to pay them out all that money aye.
+Nicholas Evans exactly !!!!!
The entire movie from start to finish is nothing but misinformation, and the movie is pure garbage 🗑️
Actually the most understandable Zuckerberg I’ve seen in any Clip! Thanks for sharing ❤️
he was the main villain in the social Network.
"did you kill mr. jack and hide his body under the couch"
"this is completely false, it was sofa not couch"
Valerie Karina Nah, read his blog, he's lying here.
I’ve been saying this for years. Some people just like to make something cool, and are willing to spend everything they have to do it.
bro said filmmakers don't understand what its like to make things for the sake of making things. what a wild claim
i trust his response here for real. i think he programed for fun and he might have been awkward and a bit slimy but not that evil. say what you want about it
You can google "Zuckerburg dumb fucks" or read www.businessinsider.com/how-mark-zuckerberg-booted-his-co-founder-out-of-the-company-2012-5. Especially the bits about "dirty tricks used by Peter Thiel" and "Is there a way to do this without making it painfully apparent to him that he's being diluted to 10%?". Seems more than a bit slimy...
bro thinks he's jesse eisenberg
Do they also steal things from friends because they like stealing things?
Ok Mark, so can I ask again what was inaccurate about the movie?
I actually like the fact that he defended the idea of just want to build things
So she asks questions about The Social Network but she hasnt seen The Social Network...well good thing you came prepared.
Fincher mightve got the character a little too correct
A movie about a guy who just likes to build things doesn’t really make for a compelling narrative.. of course they’d have to fabricate some of the details to make it more interesting and give his character motivation and if it works in the context of the story, so what if it’s not entirely accurate. It’s a film it’s supposed to be entertaining.
I get what you're saying. Plenty of people have loved building things and failed to get any money for them.
the movie may have been untrue on some levels...but it SURE AS HELL was amazing regardless!!!
(and the filmmakers and actors attempt to describe the movie as being it's own story, not exactly "based off a true story")
Movies would be SO BORING if they didn’t over dramatize things. It’s necessary
It is very weird when you think abut this movie. I mean how many biopics actually come out during the main character's life-time? This is one of the few instances where you can actually hear what they thought about the film.
"Tyrants always fear art because they want to mystify art while art tends to clarify."

He said a lot of stuff without saying anything.
man. jesse eisenberg was a perfect casting choice.
i literally just finished watching the movie and this video really seems like a scene from it
never looking at that guy the same way ever again
What the denial!?
Truth or lie (which is another debate), but how he opened by saying they got most of his t-shirts right, damn, that was a terrifying burn.
Zuckerberg talks about the movie like it was supposed to have the accuracy of a documentary... It was a dramatization inspired by true events.
I can't seem to find him talking about the movie in any depth
It's actually self explanatory.
If Mark has been "dumped a lot" then how has he been dating the same girl since before he started FaceBook? Is he talking about a girl he asked to the school dance in the 5th Grade?
everyone in the comments thinks they know mark zuckerberg, just from watching a movie..
@RadicalEntity
I edit video, so I know exactly what you are talking about it. It isn't that the video isn't true, but it's a subjective reality.
For example, if I'm switching between cameras, and someone walks across the room, I can cut it as if that person was never there.
What ends up in the final version is completely true, and yet not.
Micheal Moore is a great example of that. He never utters an untrue word, and yet he can make you believe things that aren't real.
interesting to see how he needs to think about every body posture he makes. he looks nervous and fake.

I don't think it's that people in hollywood can't wrap their head around it, but it's all about created a good and interesting story that will appeal to the public. You need romance, drama, and tradegy, so that's what the writer and director did.
I'm glad i've seen this.
