Thanks for watching! We had to ask Riki sensei for YEARS before he agreed to let us film any of his classes, and it's been nearly three years of work to get the quality up to this point. We're never going to monetize the channel or sell these videos or anything, we just want to spread good judo as it was taught to Riki sensei. Please share so that knowledge can reach more people!
@@RikiDojoUSA Well I'm glad he agreed! Thank him for me, this is probably the most useful judo channel I've found. And I love the way you seem to look at judo. A lot of people want to commercialise it, to make shiai the most important aspect, I don't think it should be, personal development and mutual benefit is the most important part, in my opinion. And thanks to all the students as well - it's great to see how each person adapts a throw for themselves
@@RikiDojoUSA I've been a fan for a year or two now. I really love his gentle teaching style and his insights that can only come from deep experience. I click excitedly whenever I see a new video going up!
2:51 ... that was the moment where my sensei corrected my elbow in harai-goshi technique ... to go right underneath the armpit as you said here! I was not going underneath and I felt something is too heavy when I was turning ... and this elbow position make it soo easy . Thank you for sharing your skills ....
This very well might be the last of them...it was only this and osoto-gari that we had filmed twice. I have dozens of other techniques filmed that I need to get around to editing down.
Thanks for watching! This will probably be the last 'updated' video...I have quite the list of video editing ahead of me for lots of techniques we haven't covered yet.
Delighted to see and study a new video from your dojo community. I have always had difficulty personally with this waza-your video and Riki-sense’s guidance have revealed to me what I have been doing wrong all this time. Domo arigatou!🥋🙏🙂
Harai-Goshi. Great video! Informative and educational as always. We're very fortunate you share knowledge and experience with world. Arigatō Riki Sensei!
It so happens that the supposed leg version is sharper and better. It's really supposed to an Uki Goshi with a leg sweep. My teacher's teacher was one of the originals 10th Dans.
I made some of the mistakes you named, harai goshi is my favourite koshi waza and took me a lot to get the feeling because of that tsurite hand feeling weird and trying to go too low like in some other techniques. Also is way easier to do harai goshi with a high grip instead of classic kumikata but I leave that for randori or a tournament. Thanks for sharing.
I really love the etymology and history integrated in these videos.
yes! i love the breakdown of the original battlefield technique when he shows the jujitsu response up a weapon - in this case, overheat katana strike
Thanks for watching! Lots more coming, I (video maker) have been dragging my feet on some really great videos the past few months.
This is one of the most complete videos on this channel: explanation, demonstration, storytelling, and historical context. Thumbs up 👍
Thank you! Riki sensei always gives us every part, but sometimes things get left on the cutting room floor...
These videos are so awesome, thanks for sharing them. And the sensei seems so knowledgable and humble and calm.

Done :)
Thank you for the lesson, Riki Sensei! Greetings from Brazil!
Obrigado!
Always a good day to see a new video. The knowledge, stories, and friends are what make training at the Riki Dojo great.
Lots more coming soon! Thanks for the demos!

Thank you as always!
What a wonderful throw. Thank you for teaching.
Thanks Craig!
We definitely need some more 2.0’s

Que profe más divertido!👍🏻❤😊
Estamos de acuerdo!
Another great video, such a great channel that supports our learning journey! 👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Luis!
I really appreciate the advice on this throw. I am also having issues with Hane Goshi, so I hope we will see an up to date video on it as well.

One of my favorite wazas!! Seeing it broken down this way makes it easy to understand and practice for continual improvement. Thank you for this!!
Thanks a bunch!

Riki sensei actually told us about soto-ashi-harai during this harai-goshi class, but that got left on the editing room floor.
Super video ✌️👌👍
Thanks Luca!

04:34 so the ideia is push the left sholder Blade of the uke ?
Pulling uke's scapula up and towards you.
Absolutely beautiful demonstration. Thank you Sensei.
