Hello! My sister in law and I are currently trying this pattern for a fun project! I am in need of a maternity skirt myself, but I was curious about the waist band measurement. My waist is 37.5 so do I add 20 to that? Then the piece would be 57.5 inches long? I dont have much sewing experience so thank you!
Oh yay, I’m so pumped that you and your SIL are making this together, that sounds so fun! Yes, your total measurement would be 57.5 inches (you could even round up to 58 if you wanted). The extra fabric will gather up around your waist and allow for expansion, which will definitely come in handy for the maternity version! I hope this helps, happy making!! 💛

If I were to make this for winter would I need to include a slip layer? I'm worried about the skirt snagging on my tights when I walk.
It really depends on the fabric. If you were to use something with more grip (like a cotton or wool) you’d probably want to add a lining or slip.

I put pins at half, quarter etc intervals when I gather so I can measure the distance between the pins because I'm a Virgo lol 😆 😅 😜
