  • What is Choked Flow? Choked flow is defined as the point at which increasing the pressure drop (AP), while maintaining a constant inlet pressure (P1), yields no further increase in flow rate. Note: It is important to note that this definition assumes a fixed flow area.

    Hi Asad,
    Could you heighlites on allowed velocity when it comes to gas, liquid and steam service.
    I believe it would be greater than pipe velocity
    E.g. Gas pipe line allows 25-30m/s but in control valve it will be allowed around 90m/s

    Great explanation.I had a question.If we are increasing the pressure drop by decreasing the downstream pressure how does the pressure decreases at the vena contracta of the valve as upstream pressure is still constant?

    • @farahsa9984
      @farahsa9984 Рік тому

      Case 1: when sonic velocity reached.
      Then when decreasing the downstream pressure, no impact on vena contracta. As sonic velocity is reached.
      Case 2 : when sonic velocity is not reached.
      When downstream pressure is decreased, there will be increase in velocity of gas thorough it. As there is a greater pressure difference.

    sir two request
    1).please make a video on ANSI , ASME and ASTM.
    What is it ?
    Why we use it ?
    What are the difference?
    How all three are related ?
    2. Rangability in EQ%, 100:1, 50:1, 30:1.
    Why the opening is increasing as we increases?

    Sir pls reply.... can u pls tell me then how come, for maximum flow rate there is minimum pressure difference in control valve and for min flow rate there is maximum pressure difference in control valve, as pressure difference and flow are directly proportional.

      @AsadPassionateEngineer  Рік тому

      Food for thought : Search about "vena contracta" concept in Orifice . What is exactly vena contracta If you will understand that concept then your above query will get solved.
