  • Footage taken from Romain C:
    / @romain_c
Kremers and Froon were students from Amersfoort in the Netherlands. They had spent six months planning their trip to Panama, which was supposed to serve as part vacation, part service trip. They planned on spending some time hiking and touring while also volunteering with local children, teaching arts and crafts, and learning Spanish.
The two women had been hiking around the Panamanian jungle for the past two weeks as part of a backpacking mission trip and intended to stay for the next four weeks with their host family to volunteer at a local school.
However, after they waved goodbye to their family at 11:00 AM on April 1st, they were never seen again.
The women had written a Facebook post, in which they wrote about their intentions to tour the local village. They also wrote that they had had brunch with two fellow Dutchmen before embarking on their hike.
On the night of April 1, the host family noticed something was wrong. Their dog had returned, safe and sound, but alone - the girls were nowhere to be found. The host family searched the area around their home but decided to wait until morning to alert the authorities.
On April 2, Kremers and Froon missed an appointment with a local tour guide who was supposed to take them on a private walking tour of Boquete, which prompted the host family to alert authorities. The next morning an aerial search of the forest was conducted, as well as a foot search of the village and the lightly wooded areas by locals.
By April 6, the two women were still missing. Fearing the worst, the Kremers and Froon families flew to Panama, bringing with them detectives from the Netherlands. Along with local police and dog units, they searched the forests for ten days.
Days turned into weeks, and after ten weeks there had still not been any sign of Kremers or Froon.
Then, as police were slowing their search efforts, a local woman turned in a blue backpack, claiming to have found it in a rice paddy along the banks of the river. Inside the backpack were two pairs of sunglasses, $83 in cash, Froon’s passport, a water bottle, and two bras.
Also inside, most importantly, was Froon’s camera and both of the women’s cell phones.
Police immediately investigated the camera and phones and came up with disturbing evidence.
The phones had remained in service for almost ten days after the women disappeared. Over just four days, 77 separate attempts had been made to call the police, both via 112, the emergency number in the Netherlands, and 911, the emergency number in Panama. Using the call logs, police were able to come up with an outline of the time the girls spent missing in the forests.
The first two emergency calls had been just hours after Kremers and Froon had begun their hike to the 112 emergency number. Due to the dense jungle, neither of the attempts went through.
In fact, out of all 77 calls, only one managed to make contact but broke up after just two seconds.
Police also discovered that on April 6, several unsuccessful attempts were made to unlock Kremers’ phone with an incorrect PIN number. It never received the correct number again. By April 11, both phones were dead.
Though the call log was disturbing, it was nothing compared to the camera.
The first photos on the camera were taken the morning of April 1 when the women had left for their hike. The photos showed them on a trail near the Continental Divide, though nothing about them led police to become suspicious.
However, the second set of photos was worrisome. Taken in the dead of night, between the hours of 1 and 4 AM on April 8, the photos showed the girls belongings spread out on rocks, plastic bags and candy wrappers, oddly piled mounds of dirt, a mirror, and - most worrisome - the back of Kremers’ head with blood leaking from her temple.
Police found Kremers' neatly folded clothes by the river's edge and, two months later, discovered a pelvic bone and foot still inside a boot in the same area. The bones of both women were eventually found, but there was no evidence to determine the cause of death despite questioning locals, tour guides, and hikers. The disappearance and deaths of Kremers and Froon remain an unsolved mystery.

I dont see any comparison between the real picture of Kris standing on a rock in the little stream and this stream in the video. The parents of Lisanne walked the trail and they also said that this was the place where the picture was taken. But also there, I see no comparison whatsoever, they could have been of trail allready on that last picture...

I have 30 years of hikking experience in tropical forests. I have 25 years working in tropical forests. Some remarks on this trail: 09:04 to 09:35. Wel. This part is very confusing.... 11:57 another bifurcation...16:11 to 16:15 it seems a very dangerous place to slip on the right side of the trail. A fall of various meters it seems... 19:13 that a thing to be concerned: there are lots of cow made paths. If the girls took one of them at the time of get out is game over.... The mirador have lots of mist and it is possible to mistakenly take some cow path at the time of down. Definetively is not a trail to go for the first time alone without a guide. In my opinion... My theory is that the girls got lost after the mirador when they decided to go a little further but left the trail to avoid contact with some unknown person or cattle. Definetively they left the trail for some reason..... A person following them and cattle in front of them in the trail could be a reason to left the trail... And when you left the trail in such forests is very hard to reach the trail again. It literately is few meters from you but you do not see it. 27:15. That's weird. It seems a NEW and recent path created... 28:20, 29:17 another confusing parts.

Why not take some photos once the sun came up and stand up while taking photos in 360 degrees of entire area? Why does the person taking the photos lay down so we only see a very low angle of the mirror, map, etc? Were they hurt too?

@panter82 the trail beyond is not as easy to follow. No one has ever said that. Its extremely easy to get turned around when you have no point of reference to compare your location to. The tree canopy would make following the sun difficult and you can't see any distant features. And anyone speculating is forgetting this was just two inexperienced young girls that went out ill-prepared. Everyone offering up that certain aspects don't make sense are doing so from the comfort of a chair after seeing everything. They aren't out in there freaking out because they are lost and aren't really sure what to do. It's all conjecture. No one is thinking about it from the perspective of being out there having to make decisions in the moment with little experience. Also there is a lot of misinformation being spread. Such as the 77 incorrect PIN attempts. This was the SIM pin not the passcode and those 77 were up to March 31st. Likely explained as taking time to get the new pin in memory. After a certain point there is no point in entering a SIM pin of you know you don't have service and you have tried unsuccessfully many times before. Given where the shorts were found they likely didn't move much further after getting lost or at least didn't leave the area. Might have been injured. Given the time between the summit and the first call attempt they likely made it to just before where the shorts were found. They likely never left that general area and the night photos were probably an attempt to get the attention of searchers that they heard in the distance. By this point they were probably weak and nearly delusional. The location in the night photos is likely where they finally died of dehydration.

    • @M1khail_87
      @M1khail_87 2 місяці тому

@@stevenmackey789 I agree with you on many points. But i dont think, that they died because of dehydration. As i remember, a little bit water was found in bottle in backpack... Panamian authorities are to blame - they never checked out what kind of water exactly was in the bottle. And this is great miss. Water was from supermarket? from river, or raindrops were collected in bottle? In first case the theory of abduction and murder looks like more obvious. In second we speak more about girls got lost and died

I can't help but think that the girls may have fallen down at the river during the last normal photo and injured themselves there. It's a big risk and very difficult to search in such places if you don't know where to look.

While it does look a bit different (there were a lot of rains in between) the consensus seems to be its the same stream. There is no evidence Kris and Lisanne ever willingly went off trail. They are on the trail in every single picture they took. If they'd gone exploring off trail there would be pictures of this. It would have made for a great new picture of their journey record. I cannot see Kris and Lisanne NOT taking a picture of something new and exciting like going off into the forest away from the trail.

@@kenlee1416 thats true, it looks different 4 month later. What I can see is that the waterflow is much heavier than on 1th of april so it may does not take long to change completly. If you compare picture 508 with a still of parents hike you can spot stones that match together. It's a bit difficult because the vegetation looks also very different at this time. The very big rock behind Kris is a little bit more overgrown as 4 month later. The big stones on the left does match too, just washed of any growing. Another one is the stone one step before Kris which you can find in the middle of the river in the video. It's shape is very unique so that's one of the best to compare.
I agree that It's very different at first glance, but if you look closer I think you can find enough matching parts.

This is all unnecessary effort, dear author.
You only need to carefully watch several interviews with local people during the operation to find the girls. On one of them, a local speaks in Spanish, expecting that they don't understand him, because they are interviewing in English (with a translator). He turns to the guide, Feliciano, and says, "Boss, I didn't tell them anything."
It is the guide who is directly related to the disappearance and subsequent death of the girls.

I call the foul-play-theory BS ... and this theory of ''you only need to watch careful the locals'' .. is BS. And its exhausting, because it comes only from people, who dont give a lot time into research... anyway ...
To explain why its BS :
there was a promised reward for the girls - of 30 000 Euro. The locals are so poor, that they cant efford even the second o of poor. For them 30 000 Euro is much. And even for me: if i dont get any punishment for lying my a** off .. but i can only win, if somehow turns out that my lies are true - thaen hell yeah: i would lie to for 30 000 Euro. The locals are also not angels. In that regard.
I also know the interview you are reffering too. The problem is: its out of context. UA-camers who are in love with the foul-play-theory simply think: the guy said something which has to do with foulplay.
Feliciano didnt had any reasons, to comppromise himself. He was in fact the first who went to the police, because the girls promised to meet him on 2nd april for the tour to the vulcan Banu. Thats the only reason why he was alarmed when they didnt whowed up.
And because he knows the pianista-trail very good, he offered his help.
UA-cam and internet is full of psychopaths. He (Feliziano) learned that the bad way.. because he also got a lot of death-threats by now ... also a lot of foulplay-believers threatened his wife. Its a reason why dont want to talk about this whole case at all.
Back then in 2014 he helped a lot in his spare time. He went one day after on the El pianist trail - back and forth /which itself is 10 km).. he went to the paddocks because he hoped he would find foot-trails from the girls at the paddocks , but he didnt find. Later he helpfed the search crew in his own time, to find remains of the girls , and he indeed found Lisannes foot (no killer would find bones for the investigators ... no i dont believe foul-play-theory-believers who want to think: he did all of this, just to make himself unsuspicious ) ... Its the opposite : every killer makes himself suspicious if he risks to find bones for the investigators.. thats simply against every logic to do for a killer).
Its just so exhausting to tell this all the time. I am rather on reddit. Because there the people are much better informed, much more with scientific methods. But in youtube comment section, usually ... lets say ''other people are here''.

I have seen this mystery in the past but for some reason it popped up again in my feed and now I'm hooked into it.
My theory is that this case is more about bad company than bad trails. The girls probably planned to meet up with the boys once they reached the Mirador and then shortcut their way to the Caldera. This is probably why they rejected the guide. They let their guard down because they already felt they knew their assailants. This new venture to get there stalled them using their phones. They unclothed themselves at the Caldera which is why the bras were in the bag. Something happened and their fate was sealed.
Henry and his father know that area like the back of their hand. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a motorbike or something similar and escorted the girls to Caldera.
But it's easier to blame indigenous tribes when the real monster knows the lay of the land. I can bet anything the night photos were at Caldera. Some pictures had water in the background relatively near.
Furthermore, there are too many one off passersby on that trail for anyone or anything to go unnoticed.
Side note- that trail doesn't look safe and it looks confusing at some points. I got eyes. The only thing that looks easy about it is the bifurcation making it easier for a criminal to do his thing.

Your theory is best. Kris and Lisanne were not alone on that day. The gang was there too because they knew each other already in the island resort.
Nothing sinister happened in the trail because there were other hikers and shepards.
Girls were raped and killed by the gang at the Caldera for sure. The was indeed a red truck owned by the gang. Feliciano's role was to cover up. He was ordered.
Girls were likely swimming naked but I don't know why ? Perhaps they were given some drinks.
The taxi driver was part of it and he lied to police.
We all know who drowned the gang men and taxi driver.

@@Sandoz-tq7qj Agreed. I wish they just randomly arrested the son or the father to force a snitch out of them. You obviously can’t catch up with the other two dead men. Panama authorities are just too lax to even be creative enough to touch on this case and they just don’t give a damn since the girls weren’t Panamanian citizens anyway.
I could only imagine what their parents feel. Not only are your daughters gone but they are gaslit into a mystery they could never solve. That alone would give me endless sleepless nights and nightmares and just destroy my soul day my day.

37.17 They stopped right there and turned back since they decided they can't go on anymore. Returned back to the trailhead safe. I heard that witnesses that lived in those houses down there saw them together since they walked in front of their houses, even some talked to them. One of the witnesses saw them get into the red pickup that driven by Feliciano's son Henry and they left El Pianista trail and went to their homestay and took of their bras and changed to bikini, then to Romero Market to buy drugs and mosquitoes repelent, then going back to their homestay, and finally went to Caldera hotspring with Henry and his friends in that red pickup. At the Caldera hotspring was where these girls were abducted, raped and abused.. then they were transported to other place where they were kept alive for days and then killed for their organs.. then their bodies were dismembered and burried. Lost pic which is pic no 509, I believed to be a pic of Caldera hotspring which were deleted by the Panamanian authority to make sure this looked like they were lost in order to cut this case short and to make sure this case won't tarnish their tourism industry.
PS: Surely they have other commitments to do and Dutch people always follow the time and be punctual when they planned something. Oh one more thing, the pics order is messed up to make them looked like they were lost and there were no Restaurant's dog following them since the no pic that has a dog in it. Yeah, they were murdered! Not lost.. if anyone said lost, then Panamanian gov and the killers of these girls have won and won't do justice to these girls.

@@Sandoz-tq7qj Because I don't think the girls will go further after pic 508 because it's gonna be way more challenging without proper attire, enough water, and right equipment and also, the time was already too late to go further. These girls were smart.. especially Lisanne that was a psychology student.. surely she had the feeling of going back before the sunset. Also, the bag on Kris.. surely the girls made a promised that who's gonna carry the bag on the way up and who's gonna carry it on the way down.. so Lisanne always seen with the bag on her back in the from the trailhead until the top of the Mirador.. so there are some pics of Kris wearing it on the Mirador.. during pic 508, she still wasn't wearing the bag but then they turned back and went back to the Mirador, that time.. Kris was the one who having bag on her back and also a pic of Kris on the trailhead with a bag means they made it alive out of the El Pianista trail. You see.. it's kinda dumb that people keep on changing who wears the bag in less than 5 min and no one does that.. and the clouds.. the clouds on the pic of Kris with bag with Lisanne on her side is really different.. there's no way the blue sky suddenly turned cloudy and a bit darker right.. the sniffer dogs were not be able to detect their scent during the rescue mission.. and finally bones were found once the reward were increased, the rescue team along with the local volunteers been there for so many days but yet didn't find any thing else but once the reward increased, Feliciano's team found Kris' shoes but not the same color since Kris wore brown shoes, pelvis and her no 10 right rib bone and Lisanne's shoe that still had her decaying foot on it with skin and her fibula bones..so this is why I believed they turned back and went back to the Mirador for the second time and then went back down before the sunset.. and were abducted, raped. confined in some places murdered, harvest all their vital organs (because that Sabroson family's son Edwin Aguirre which is also Henry's friend is said to have connection with Mexican cartels such as Sinaloa or Juarez that involved in drugs, human, sex and organ trafficking since there are branches of Sinaloa and Juarez in Panama) and girls were buried somewhere where no one knows.. oh one more thing.. the pics order was messed up just to make them looked like they were lost in the jungle.. it was either the preps or the Panama's authority that made them like that so the case close sooner since this can disrupt their tourism sector if prolong for too long and /or the preps' job because to put evident that can fool and confused the authority and debunked all the witnesses that told the truth.. Kris and Lisanne's case is not the only one.. since then so many people missing without a trace while hiking on the trail and all ended up dead

If they want to leave a dying message just to let the people know that there's no hope for them to survive in jungle and wish when their body found, hopefully can have a proper burial, they will snapped those photos during the day times and not at night.. also they gonna record the video of themselves about what is happening to them and saying goodbye to the love ones instead of just random photos at night which is not a smart thing to do for the girls that were smart like them.

I don't think they took the night time pics. They didn't leave notes or texts in their phone what any one missing wpukd do, they were smart girls . The candy wrapper pic was strange. They said it was a marker or a signal . I don't think so. These girls rang emergency services but didn't record a single video or message on their mobiles???? Somthing if off big time

I don’t think they carried on much further past the last photo. I think they turned around and headed back but for some reason left the trail and one of them suffered a fall. We will never know why they left the trail but I suspect it was curiosity, maybe searching for a photo opportunity. The girls did appear to love documenting their adventures with photos. Once they were injured, without water or adequate clothing I think they would have become very weak and disoriented very quickly.

    • @zwanzischmark
      @zwanzischmark Рік тому +7

Thats kind of what I think. At this time they got in trouble anyways to get back by daylight. They needed 3,5h to get there and even the way back is faster, thats not a lot of time until it's getting dark. I don't know if they were clear about this at this point.
It does not make sense that they walk further even if they were disoriented about the direction. At any point it must have been clear to turn around. I also don't think anyone was injured directly on the trail and because of this they needed to walk further. In this case you would turn around directly even if the way would be hard to take. The way further is unnknown and you don't know if it is even harder and where the next help would be there.
So for me the two big questions are how they got off the trail and where the night pictures were taken. In my opinion they got however along one of the rivers. The only way then was downstream. It's clever for sure to follow a river because of water and because it's the safest way to don't walk in circles. At any point maybe days later they found that maybe save spot where the night pictures were taken. They build the SOS and plasticbag signs to maybe seen from above like everybody would do. They tried anything to have a chance to be seen, so they used the flash of the camera over hours in the night. Maybe they stayed here several days until their hope ended and they went on.
After days without food they must be absolutly weak anyways. Even if none of them where injured at this point, every step had to be absolutly dangerous....
      scared on the trail? possible
used a wrong way? some say impossible, some say it could
      fall somewhere down? possible
      kidnapped? no
      killed? no
Most speculations about this case are horroble absurd and facts are misinterpreted.
Anyone who think the Photos were Photoshopped, all have been planned, somebody pretend phone activity over days, stood in the night over 3 hours to take pictures, manupulated the camera storage, killed them, used chemicals to bleach bones, took bones and the backpack over a 14 hours hike back to the river is absolutly a dreamer. (sorry)

Why do I have that feeling after nights and nights of thinking in this case that both ladies were tied up from there legs. could be one leg for each. and could be taken as a sex slaves somewhere in a cave. latter on after they died for some reasons, the criminals couldn't move their bodies because their foots were tied up by something harch, so they cut Lessane's foot to make her body free, and that gives the reson of why Lessane's foot was found in her shoes, clean cut and no blods. Another conclusion I found is that one of the criminals has some emotions for these two girsls, where he had some type of conflict with his criminal partner, so he was allowing the girls to use their backpack for some reasons, without the partner(s) notice that. so the girls were trying to call emergency for a specific time only during the days. Where the same guy toke their backpack and deleted photo(s), and for some reasons make the backpack to be found on the river. Another doubt that I have to the two pieces of red plastic bag tied up to the branch is that it was a full plastic bag that could be fielded up with water or something else, but still think it was water because the rock under it looks wet in the photo. and then Lissane couldn't use this bag out to drink after then water had been finished so she toke it out for some reasons. Whatever it is good answers or not, I believe that both two girls were kidnapped at the jungles. and the conflict between murders later on because of this case, laed to they killed each other. and of course, the driver who said he dropped off this girsl at 1:30, but they had actually arrived there around 11? that because the driver told the criminals that he toke the girls there. so the criminals asked him to pick them up to the same position. and he did around 1:30. and that why he got confused when ha answered the detectives about the time that he dropped off this girls. where he gave them the time when he dropped off the criminals.

Meu Deus elas andaram tudo isso sozinhas? DEUS ME LIVRE.

People want to believe in foul play because it's more interesting to them. If the girls simply got lost/injured in the jungle and died from exposure, there's no "mystery" for them to solve. They are horrible people.

Не понятно зачем им продолжать путь дальше,ничего такого красивого там нет,камни,грязь , ветки , а они в шортах и майке, легко поцарапаться.Вряд ли они захотели в таком виде гулять в джунглях.Очень жутко

That dog called Azul may have walked with Kis and Lisanne for a while and then returned home. It was a really hot day (over 30 degrees Celsius), certainly for a dog. So, the dog may have thought: "30 degrees Celsius? Yes, bye! I'm Crazy Henkie not! I'm going back home!"
What if the girls (or just Kris) have been smoking a certain type of grass? That may explain the look on Kris' face in picture 508, the picture where she stands with her legs crossed and the picture where, she does some crazy move.

Do you mean picture 0505 where she`s hunched forward with her hands behind her back and sticking her tongue out ? Because on 0508 she`s just looking back towards the camera normally.
In regards to smoking a certain type of grass, I had never thought about it but you might be on to something. You wouldn`t catch me on this trail even if I was 21 or 22 yrs old, screw that, way too dangerous.

@@paulcarfantan6688 Yes, you're absolutely right! Thank you for pointing that out. I think, I either forgot to type the word "and" after "508", or I wrote something different first, then changed it, accidentally leaving "and" out. It makes a huge difference. I actually meant both pictures. My "grass smoking" theory is just one of many, we must no forget, it was really hot that day, over 30 degrees Celsius, that could explain the expressions too.

I literally feel sick after watching this and listening to the terrible music. I think the girls got lost in the jungle and one or both were injured in a fall. It's possible that one of the girls sustained life-threatening injuries and died fairly quickly that afternoon, while the other girl was also injured but couldn't really move either.
