Still got my laser torque wrenches as well I brought over from the UK when I moved to the states. Brought a smile to my face.

They do seem to last based on this couple I have tested. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Well that was rather interesting and it is about the same results that my older toques wrenches got when my daughter tested them in their lab. Nice to see that good tools holds up. Thanks for sharing that my friend :)

Interesting that you have had similar results with old torque wrenches. I think some of the older tools last better than the new ones coming onto the market.
Appreciate you taking the time from your busy schedule to watch and comment!

Wow not bad at all for 30 years old! Im socked how well it did.
I actually looked at that Gedore tester, but over here the CDI which I use was about $500 cheaper.
    Thanks for the mention!

Certainly did well considering they are not top brands as well. Interesting on the price differential. I got my unit from Gedore UK that were offering the best price compared to others. It is 1% though and not as accurate as the 0.5% of the CDI. Can't really find CDI in the UK, they have a dealer in Europe but that would put import taxes on top of the price and not all dealers will send to the UK now.

It would be impractical to do, but very interesting to compare a new old stock torque wrench, one that's gone through a lot of clicks, and one that's been left stored with the setting left tightened up over a few years. Problem is to get sensible data you'd need to test multiple of them, etc.
My hunch is that digital torque wrenches should be more consistent over time but that does rely on the electronics not going wonky.

I know you are supposed to always wind the tension off the spring when storing torque wrenches for long periods, never seen a definition of 'long period' though. Although you can also wind them off to far and it affects accuracy. An electronic torque wrench will be dependent on the stability of the reference. Usually the reference ages over the first year of use and then stabilises, re-calibrated after that should give a good stable wrench, barring any failures as you say.

Interesting to see the drift is slightly upwards on the laser torque wrench I suspect that is intentional with these older non-digital torque wrenches would be interesting to see the drift and out-of-tolerance compared in Nm.

I am tempted to get a new one for comparison that does have the settings in Nm. I would imagine at new they are set high and then over use weaken and the accuracy drops over time.
