    How to using painting and brush tools in Blender to paint textures on mesh objects, using different brushes and options.
    Creating a basic image texture, and unwrapping a mesh so you can accurately apply an image texture.
    Painting in both the UV Image Editor window, and the 3D viewport.
    Using different painting modes, including painting lines and with curves.
    Using different Blending modes when painting colours and textures
    Creating Brush textures (clouds, voronoi, noise, etc), and brush masks and how to use them.
    Using the clone brush in the 3D viewport to eliminate seams
    Painting on only selected faces
    Understanding and editing brush curves to get the brush feather you want.
    Packing images into a .blend file as a png.

    Over the last few years I've watched a gazillion Blender tuts here on youtube, and I love all those who share their knowledge so freely, but have to say, there's nobody who, for sheer amount of topics covered, and quality of explanation, comes close to you and your channel. Best Blender instructor in the known universe. Many Thanks.

      Then again, found another problem... I made sure to save my image file periodically, and saved it as a separate png file so I would know where to locate it. When I opened up the Blender project again, it had a blank image file. I navigated to the saved png file, and now I can see the half-colored image while with the UV projections in one window, but the model itself (in Texture Paint mode) is still blank. How do I apply the saved png file to the model, so I can paint either on the model itself or in the image window and have it apply to the other simultaneously?

    The brush "line" setting never goes away for me. Texture painting looks so easy, but it has proven to be a total pain in the ass for me.

    • @BornCG
      @BornCG  7 років тому

      You can't change it back to 'space' under the stroke heading in the toolshelf when you're in Texture paint mode?

    • @UnauthorizedExpression
      @UnauthorizedExpression 7 років тому

      Nope, I've tried. Must be a bug. Probably be fine if I restarted and tried again, but its always something with texture painting. Stuff like this. My system is plenty powerful enough to do more than most can in blender too so I know it's some blender issue. I used to wish blender could do this, but since it became possible I've had no end of trouble making it work.

    Hi, I can select a face in the uv editor like you do in the object? I want to paint directly on the uv editor, but I can't select the face.

  • @consciousnessproductions
    @consciousnessproductions 6 місяців тому

    Not likely Im gonna get a response, but I use the old blender 2.79 because I hate the latest version of blender/I'm yet to really get into it.
    How do you remove texture masks? What I'm experiencing looks like a bug, but I don't know.
    So in the texture editor, you can change your brush to "mask", if you accidentally add a mask to your image the obvious answer would be to change the weight of it from 100% to 0, But upon doing so It just, doesnt work, not sure why.
    CTRL is also supposed to invert texture mask values and it also doesn't seem to help when I press it at 100% weight.

    Twice within the past hour or so my entire PC has frozen and had to be reset manually by way of the power button because I simply selected the "Fill" option in texture painting and clicked on my mesh. This has happened with two different files.

    BornCG, this is exactly the type of tutorial I've been looking for… however, even though I carefully follow your steps, when I try to paint on the light blue unwrapped cube in the UV/Image Editor with the red color, exactly as you do, nothing happens. I left click and drag the mouth to paint but the cube light blue color is left unchanged. What do I do wrong?

    Is there a way of painting these objects 'without' texture painting? Surely a fill command can be used for matt effects etc?
    The texture paint method seems long-winded and convoluted to me.

    • @BornCG

      Of course you can just add a solid material with normal material settings, like being shiny or reflective or dull or metalic.. for these you don't need to paint the whole thing a solid cover of course. .. you can also just map an existing image onto a mesh as well. =)

    • @LandersWorkshop
      @LandersWorkshop 4 роки тому +1

      @@BornCG Got it, thanks, I'm not one for delving into the mysteries of the node editor.
      I pretty much keep it plain like that with the packaged materials. But the new principled BSDF is quite the nifty material though. :)

      Not yet. The grease pencil has changed so much over the last few years that I didn't want to make one that wouldn't be relevant for a good while... Plus I didn't use it much except to make little scribbles and diagrams while teaching. Now in 2.8 is a whole big drawing and 2D animation feature, and the new annotation tool is the simple scribbler.

    When I tried to draw on my mesh, it didn't work, then I realized that I didn't connect my color node things, and so I did. Then, went back to my UV editor screen, and tried again, no luck. Im using Blender version 2.79, and I dont know if there are many things different about it being two versions apart, but my drawings dont work at all. The only brushes I know to work are Fill and Mask, which dont help at all. They only produce a slightly lighter color than my main material in the background. Help? Anybody know what I did wrong?

    Hey ok you show how to paint a texture, but how the hell do you use a texture as a paint? That is what I need to know - and it meas - how can I put a texture I made into blender to use it for a brush? That has nothing to do with painting the way you show. Only at that moment when you choose to use some in-blender-existing texture for painting - you are actually using a texture to paint - but well that does not cover using your own textures for that. All that crap about using colors for painting you do only when you work to detail the textures or it will be only some cartoon texture. Not that realistic. And no - I do not mean applying a texture directly on some surface as a image - lol - no using a texture as a paint - making several brushes with different textures - making sure the brushes will not vanish when you close blender for night and very very importantly - HOW DO YOU BRING IN A TEXTURE FROM OUTSIDE TO USE IT AS A PAINT? You can assume the textures exist already.. I make them, I got hundreds and hundreds of such. Oh yes - and how do you make the texture actually remain as real part of the mesh? And how do you make sure your mesh is high enough quality for making that texture.. as it can not be that high quality for uploading to anywhere.. like for SL. I was able to do that one time long time ago with older version of blender, but now I got 2.79 and I find no way to do what I want to do - cause to get the great look it would make to play with blending textures.. no can do if you cant use your own textures as paints. Those in blender existing textures are totally useless for what I need to do.
