ASUS Zephyrus G15 review: All the gaming laptop you need
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- We were already super impressed with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 last year, calling it one of our favorite gaming laptops ever, but this year's G15 model really pulls out all the stops. Packing a super-powerful AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS chip and an Nvidia 3080 GPU along with a super-smooth 2560x1440 screen at 165hz with G-sync, the G15 is a powerhouse. It also looks pretty darn nice, and sports an excellent keyboard and decent battery life. It can even manage Cyberpunk 2077 on the go, what more do you need?

Asus: Puts Cheap Webcam on Laptop
Reviewers: The Webcam on this laptop sucks, get your own.
Asus: Takes Cheap Webcam off Laptop
Reviewers: Asus should have at least put a webcam on it but still... Get your own.
Asus: wtf...
It is because the use case has changed since covid. If I need to be on a video conference away from by desk... Hence the laptop... I need the option of a camera even if it is crap.
@@MrAustanian Your phone has cameras on on it that are decent quality. Using it for the meeting screen would also free up screen space on your laptop that you might need since most laptops have but one screen.
@@KnightsWithoutATable is screen sharing for documents not a regular part of your zoom meetings? There are work arounds sure, but when making laptop decisions personally I want it as tailored to my use case as possible. I suspect my use case is very common currently.
@@MrAustanian True. Maybe zoom should consider creating a device integration feature to let you use multiple devices at the same time during a call and have full functionality. Also, there are ways to slave the cameras on your phone to a computer, so that might be a work around for some people.
If Microsoft has been doing it in their surface lineups since like 2014 and phone manufacturers have now perfected small camera setups, I don't see why asking for a 1080p webcam to be the norm is a reach. Especially because ASUS MAKES THEIR OWN PHONES! THEY LITERALLY HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TWO DOORS DOWN
Yep, this is it. This is the laptop I want. I wish it had touch integration, but other than that I think it's amazing
Man I've had the 1080p G14 for a couple years now with fairly heavy gaming. It's ran very well, and no lag. Thinking or getting this g15 especially for the better display and being only slightly larger, especially being that it's on sale for a cheaper price than I got the 14 for.
Just want to make sure it's not a step down. What do you think?
Wireless 6 certified....Good for Animation & CAD/CAM graphical work from home users.👍👍
What is its price in India ?
Intel need to do something with its laptop processors because AMD is doing a great job, this machine is a powerhouse no doubt about.
@@connectionstoday4111 should be around 90K... check with Croma or reliance digital.
@@TENET_RAJ 👍👍
@Tanmay Vadhera ok. For sure it will be a compitative price... worth wait for arrival in CROMA or Reliance Digital store.
Testing Overwatch with the trackpad like a true anarchist
I gasped. But in Devindra we trust.
Also, what genius handicapped the amount of RAM..with this amount of CPU and GPU power, 64gb=2x32 in dual channel would have made this machine a dream to edit video, after effects type of work.
@LaserActiveGuy if it works for you great, but you are losing in dual channel, and Ryzen and many software pieces are very hungry of RAM speed and bandwith
@LaserActiveGuy thanks, what is this Geekbench?
Planned obsolescence
I skipped on the G14 last year because I was waiting on more manufacturers picking up AMD and also having more time to design better machines with the new AMD Architecture... Also was secretly hoping they'd make that horrible 15" version from last year look more like the G14 from last year.
Definitely worth the wait because now the perfect laptop basically exists..just the price will take some saving for.
What a fantastic laptop.
You going for G14 or G15?
@@BigBoss7777777 white g15 with the 3070
@@WildfireX I just ordered the black G14. The white looks better but it will age quicker
@@BigBoss7777777 age quicker in what sense?
The reason I'm opting for the white one is because it looks better (obviously as you said) but also because I'm sick of the amount of dust that black devices attract, honestly becomes tedious.
But really I can't wait to get this device, right now I'm still using an MSI GT72S 17" behemoth, can't wait to replace it with a more powerful, better looking device that's actually smaller with a better screen
Why all the talk about the missing webcam. The only thing holding me back from buying a laptop like this is the lack of thunderbolt ports. I know it’s because it’s owned by intel. Looking forward to USB 4.
I might need to consider the lower end one of these as a future resistant laptop for the next 3 years. The sad part is it would be more than double the power of my desktop and would have ray tracing.
I'd definitely say also looking into the Asus TUF lineup is another good choice. The Lenovo legion lineup has also been doing amazingly well and has a similar design ethos of "sleek yet powerful"
Get the 1800$ g15

@@KnightsWithoutATable I'm a student so I've been getting huge tax credits in addition to the stimulus's. I also have a pos rb15 to return. :D Good luck my friend.
@@reservoir_flow weird I was actually about to suggest the same 🤣
Your criticism with the performance of this laptop on Cyberpunk lies with the game, not the laptop.
Just use your phone as a much superior webcam to any they would've stuck or any external you would've bought
You know when someone is skilled when they play fps games on a touchpad
Because they’re working so much harder to aim than with a mouse lol
This laptop would be perfect if it had a 3:2 aspect ratio screen and much higher brightness.
Fam, you gotta start pushing up that D2 season rank. Guardian games is just around the corner, we need every hunter on deck for these medals
Also why MIda Multi + Drang? Feels weird to mix two separate guns from exotic/legendary pairs together and not get the full benefit for either
Where was this review LAST WEEK? I'm already having a lil buyers remorse.
Just curious, is anything bad about this laptop? Thinking about getting one for myself.
Also, according to the video, it is an 80W 3080 right? How does it perform?
This one is lame, low wattage and no mux switch

Thinking about returning me G14 2021 and get the 3070 G15.. I feel like the"14 screen is a bit too small for gaming. Does the build quality and so on feel just as good on the G15.
Not sure what the g14 is like but my g15 is very solid all round. I don’t think it’ll disappoint at all.
@@pumpkinpeen5937 what’s some of the cons about g15? I’m very close to buying it, but just wanna hear more about some hands on experience
@@andeluuledna The cons aren't big for me but I'll list the ones I have!
1. Lack of webcam
2. Top of keyboard gets very hot (not the actual keys, where the screen meets the bottom panel)
3. 1 Soldered dimm slot (you can only upgrade one stick of the ram, which would give a max of 48 gbs). Not huge since dual channel ram isn't a huge difference and 16gbs should be enough.
4. The fans can be very loud when playing resource intensive games. I wear a headset when playing so this doesn't matter much, having a laptop cooler underneath could possibly make this less of an issue also.
Hope this helped!
@@pumpkinpeen5937 🙏🏼 thank you! This is very helpful

I just wish it had thunderbolt. Would it really be so hard to add a tb3 controller? Even some of Intel's mobile cpus don't have an integrated tb3 controller and need one added to the motherboard.
cant, cos it belong to intel licensing. TB is intel. so they have to pay for using TB in amd laptops, but i guess intel hasnt allowed that kinda licensing. dont quote me tho :D
@@prisai03 its technically possible but not done yet i guess, apple uses thunderbolt on the m1 macs, so hopefully next processor refresh

Im fed up of these reviewers praising laptops which hardly do 60 fps in Cyberpunk even at 1080p and which only are suitable for 1080p gaming for above 60 fps in other games. Cmon guys, its 2021. Atleast 1440p and > 70 fps should be the norm. And there are laptops that do that. Once you see how a game looks at 1440p you cant really go back to 1080p.
Can this play majority of games with max resolution?
How would a laptop like this be able to handle VR? Like a Quest connected through USB to play HL Alex.
Oh absolutely. Easily
Would run it perfectly. I have no issues hitting 80+ fps with most games maxed out
For a thin laptop, this level of performance at 1440p is insane. It's unfortunate that the cyberpunk benchmark in 2021 is such a boring single player corridor story with trash AI. I guess we'll have to wait for starfield in hopes of a truly "next-gen" single player experience? Or else what's the point of advancing graphics anymore? Go back to the basics devs!

@@SassyPantsy yeah they’re very close. Underpowered 3080s are just more expensive because of the 3080, but limiting TDP seriously limits performance. A fully powered 3060 and definitely 3070 can basically match or exceed performance. Laptop GPU naming can be very misleading and TDP is often not on the spec sheet.
@@I_SuperHiro_I so how much tdp do you need for a 3060/70 to be roughly around a 90w 3080?

3070 has same memory bus as 3080, same memory size (unless you get 16GB 3080 but those are expensive), same memory speed, slightly faster boost clock, and only slightly less cuda cores (5120 vs 6144).
