Thank you - this simple video has helped me so much. I am visually impaired and for years have used a small pair of field binoculars when I attend sporting events, but I have always struggled to manage to adjust them to suit my vision. Now I know how the two independent adjustment mechanisms work together. It may seem like a simple thing to an experienced binocular user, but it’s something I’ve always struggled with. But not any longer 👍😃
Great series of vids about binoculars, very informative (loved the out-takes at the end of the Aperture vid). Just proved to me that I did not know what I was doing when I bought my binoculars and neither did the guy selling them to me.
After all I bought the Olympus 12x50 EXPS I and it's amazing :). It's comfortable for the eyes, no problem with blinking , good focus, sharp images, performs very well in low light, and I already saw Jupiter and his moons :). Overall it's amazing
My question is : Do you think that the eye relief of 18.3mm can correct the eyelashes problem ? Maybe I'm asking a stupid question, but once again I never had in my hands a "real" binocular. Thanks!
I want to buy a binocular whose range is up to five kilometers. Through which I can certainly see moving a living creature from five kilometres distance. So which one binoculars are best for my requirement?
Hi, I'm new to binoculars, I searched trough reviews all over the internet and decided to purchase a Olympus 12x50 EXPS I Binocular, but today I tried two cheaper models (£12-£20 ) at a local Decathlon shop and what I have noticed that my eyelashes were touching the lens, and the image became black (also it gave me a tearing sensation, very uncomfortable ). I read a lot about binoculars but I haven't found anything about anyone having this problem.
For most people 18.3mm should be enough eye relief to comfortably see the entire field of view unobstructed, however everyone's eyes are different, so I can't say for certain.
It sounds like your binocular is out of alignment. Probably the prism in the right barrel has shifted and is no longer giving you a consistent view with the left barrel. We'd be happy to talk with you further about your binocular and see if we can help you. Please give us a call at 1-800-289-1132.

Do you use the 12x50 for daylight terrestrial viewing without a tripod? Is it steady enough holding by hand at that power?
OSSUM! Best video on this topic. Thanks Steeling it for a blog post.

Hello, I purchased some Nikon Prostaff 7s 10x30. I get a lot of black out and I think it’s because of my eye lashes.... is this a common issue?
Great short video thanks

Maybe a spotting scope is an option?
