Thank you. I just bought my first pair of good binoculars after 25 years of birdwatching. Thanks to you I’ve set them up correctly. My old cheap ones would’ve probably been better had I set them up as you instructed!
Thank you Jessie. My husband bought me a used pair of binoculars and I had watched several other videos but yours was the only one that stated to put the right diopter setting back to zero. I did that and it was perfect. Best description and easy to follow.
Thank you I can not go look at birds it is winter in Canada right now but it did help me fix my binoculars so I could at least use them inside till summer comes again
Interesting the way you had your harness worn in the last shot. I think many harnesses are too short for that method? Did you get something custom for that?
Bird Watching would be "nice" and a luxury. I purchased my Nikon 8 X 42s for Humans who just don't quite interpret how to act within the rule(s) of law. I recall my father's Binos from Sears back in the day and I believe he still has them in his possession.
My problem is finding something I see with normal vision again with the binoculars, say I am looking at a particular branch that a bird has flown to, for some reason once I try looking through the binos it can take me a while to find it again. I think I probably just need practice, and birds that are nice enough to sit still :P, but if anyone has some pointers I'd appreciate it.
dadeskr Try lifting the binoculars to your eyes as you're looking with your regular eyesight at whatever it is you want to magnify, rather than looking down into the binoculars and then trying to find the same place you had been looking at. This way, you should not be too disoriented with the addition of magnification.
A little late but I hope it is going better now all these years later! And if you are still working on it another tip is lock your eyes to that bird and lift the binoculars up and to the right place using touch. Wearing them on a cord around your neck can really help with this!
I found a New Old Stock of Winchester WL-1050WR for Canadian $40 (US$32/£25) which came in its original packaging including a Steel Box, A Nylon Pouch and all the straps. I couldn't find any details of Winchester Binoculars online - I know that they are a now defunct Ammunition company from USA famous for their rifles and also made rifle scopes. The box and the documentation state "Winchester is a registered trademark of Olin Corporation. Winchester Optics are distributed in North America by Vanguard (USA) Inc.” I know Vanguard makes some pretty decent mid range sub $250 binos. What are your thoughts about this purchase of $40 Canadian? Here are some specs: Porro Prism (Ofcourse from the looks ) 10x50 Eye relief: 11mm Exit Pupil: 5mm Angle of view: 6.7 degrees Field of view: 351 feet at 1000 yards Weight: 1.87 Ibs
I just spent a month looking into binoculars... My biggest recommendation is to not even consider buying a pair that's less than $200. I consider pairs below $200 to be "junk". From $200 to $400 you can find a ok pair if you choose carefully, but if you use them much, you'll probably soon be looking to spend a lot more on a better pair. I've heard that the Celtron TrailSeeker 8x42 ED are decent in this price range, but the ED part is important as it refers to the lens glass used. Personally I'd say you should plan on spending $1000 for a pair, and move up and down from there as you find deals and as your budget allows. Looking through a good pair of $1000 binoculars is a joy. I've mostly used $100 binoculars, and they extremely annoying to use. Small exit pupil and eye relief made them hard to hold so I could see out of them. Poor lenses made the view blurry around the edges, and they had a small field of view. A good $1000 pair of binoculars are almost better than using your own eyes. The three big brands are Zeiss, Leica, and Swarovski. If you buy one of these, you'll generally "get what you pay for", which is to say their price vs. performance is well balanced. They're expensive, but you get screwed by some marketing that has you spend $500 on a pair of binoculars with $100 optics in them. If you can afford it, I'd highly recommend a pair of SCL binoculars from Swarovski. They're around $1500, but they are absolutely beautiful. I love them. If you want to really treat yourself, as of 2020, the best pair of binoculars made seems to be the NL Pure line from Swarovski. They're around $3000, which is a lot, but consider this to be a lifetime purchase. Shoes, suits, and cars will come and go, but you'll have these binoculars the rest of your life and they'll be an absolute joy to use. Please don't buy a cheap pair of binoculars. I have 5 of them collecting dust on my shelf. I plan on taking them apart one day and playing with their lenses.
@@dennistyler8746 Yes, but... I think you have to view it as a lifetime purchase. You won't have the same TV the rest of your life, your shoes, your computer, your car... etc. but you'll have these same binoculars the rest of your life. Best wishes!
@@jasonmcintosh2632 - I couldn’t agree with you more, it’s that way with certain things, you think you can get away with cheep ones but it takes awhile to learn the advantages of the higher quality products, I have $1000 binos midrange quality, I’m happy for now but if I ever get the chance to get NL pure I will.
Hi, I'm a seller of binocular in amazon, and are interested of your video testing. We wonder if we can pay you to make a video on how to use our new bonoculars? Thanks, and looking forward to your reply soon.
I don't usually have this issue do you change the distance you are looking at things often? Great skill to develop though at least you will be able to do it fast when you need it!
' Turn the focus wheel until the image becomes clear '.... oohhh so, that's it !!!!! thanks a lot !!!! since years i get blurry vision through my binoculars just because never using the focus wheel !!!! Now i checked both, but still prefer blurry vision !! ; p
Thank you for the video. After reading Cornell's binocular review (www.allaboutbirds.org/page.aspx?pid=2680&Cornell+Lab+eNews&Cornell_Lab_eNews_2013_12_12&), I got my first good pair this spring and love them. It was a starting point; all I've had til now is a clunky HEAVY 30-yr pair! I look forward to my next pair(s) for comparison(s).
Mr42960 The Nikon Monarch 5, 8x42, ED ATB. I have a bit of tremor in my hands so the weight of these works well for me. I'm a beginner/intermediate birder and find these suit my needs. I can zoom in then out (or visa versa) quickly and smoothly. My next pair I'd like to be able to see farther out, like in the middle of the bay where the currents convergence. For now, I really like this pair.
You must have a good binoculars for seeing a crystal clear image, if you have a piece of shit binoculars you will never have a crystal clear image whatever you will doing 😂
Excellent presentation! Clear, concise, pleasant and brief. Thank you!

Such a pleasant person you are, Jessie!
Thank you for those instructions.
Great presentation...just the right amount of information and some very nice scenery.
Been wondering how to properly adjust diopter for awhile...finally searched online thank you
Thanks. It had been more than a year since i adjusted my diopter and my vision had changed.
8x42 is the no.1 binocular by many aficionados.
Excellent video! Helped me optimize viewing sharpness.
Short and sweet. I can see clearly now! Thanks 😊
Thank you; I am a know it all who learns something new every day!

Look in your sock drawer;)
Recommendation for brand and model to buy? What do you use?

Very nicely presented , by a very nice lady. Thank you
Thanks! Just getting into birding/astronomy and this helped since I've never touched a proper pair of binoculars before.
Just got my custom mavens, thanks a lot for this video!!!
Very useful as I bought a one recently. Struggled to set focus 😰
I recently found some 10x50 binoculars for £5 and after realigning them had no idea what the diopter was, thanks for the good video
Thanks ! This is very helpful. God bless you.
Well done. Thanks so much for the quick review.
Interesting the way you had your harness worn in the last shot. I think many harnesses are too short for that method? Did you get something custom for that?
Very interesting. Now I have to check my binoculars to see if they have all that on them. Really learned something here today...thanks!
The Cornell website allaboutbirds.org is the best on the internet imo. The ID guide, facts, photos, etc. are great.

Good tip !
10x42 is my favorite walking pair but 10x50s are at my back door=))
***** Agreed. I just went from 8x to 10x and don't regret it at all.
***** I have 10x42 :)
10x50 are also useful for astronomy.
Nothing beats a pair of 10x50 wideangles.
6 years later I am watching from India
Thank you! I probably had that explained to me at some point, but I had forgotten how to adjust for my very different eyes.
Great info.
What a beautifully joyous lady. 🤓
Good tips.
Thankyou maam ❤️

Good advice but not everyone can afford more than $100. Try giving a couple dusty ones to less fortunate if you would. ✌

very helpful video and u r very Beautiful
I don't wear eyeglasses and I prefer having the eye cups retracted.
雙筒望遠鏡使用方法。不常用或初學者可留著。
I can't be the only one that has to adjust the diopter each time I use my binos... And I don't mean because the setting gets moved.
Your not the only one.........................

Quit consuming more than your fair share.

Dunno why am watching this
Or buy Swarovski binoculars for 2700 dollars.
Measure your inter pupillary distance , there’s app’s available for this , then set your binoculars to match your inter pupillary distance .
Great video!
