- 15-year-old Arpith S Bijoy (2110) decided to decline a threefold repetition against GM Vaibhav Suri (2543) as he had a better position in Round 5 of 2nd Rotachess Rapid Rating Open 2024. Irrespective of the outcome, the decision to play shows that the teenager wants to maximize his opportunity of playing a Grandmaster.

i dont think he was going to draw by repition, the only reason i think he did that was because he was low on time
He didn't want to repeat, only to get increment
Someone who is 2110 playing only in India is anyway close to GM strength. There's no need to think of themselves as inferior.
