I think when I go to have my hair done, and my guy is legit a bi-sex but married to a female and I love them both but he knows exactly what I love but once I said “maybe darker for winter” and he said nope- “I you made me work for all those baby lights you’re staying blonde!!!” And I will stay with him until I die, or he leave the state!! Sometimes he will call and ask me “ar you in? Got new product and I’m all in- its hair. It’ll grow back or he will actually schedule for a few days out and do it over and doesn’t charge me for either even though I always tip. I love his honesty.

I love how Kelly repeatedly says how unique the DCC look is and yet every season they all look the same. Sure, there are a few variations but generally they all get the same style.
I don't feel that way. They don't make ever single girl blond and teased. They have redheads, brunettes, and other color variations. As well as curly, straight. The cheerleaders in general are all different races ect. But the big curls are deff a Texas thing.
They enhance the women's natural looks that are unique to them. The DCC look IS unique, especially compared with other NFL, NBA, etc. squads. It's more all-American and girl-next-door, but polished. It's not like the trashy Instagram influencer/Kardashian/try-hard look.
She’s referring to the DCC look as unique, not that the individual girls are unique. They are all supposed to look recognisable as DCC. That’s why they all look the same, regardless of hair colour etc.

I think it's crazy that the DCC are expected to maintain these hairstyles after making the team at their own expense. Supposedly the squad have their own salon to go to but they have to tip whatever the cost of the treatment was meant to be!
actually, they get free tans, hair upkeep and gym memberships.
@@BIGBOYMATD according to the ex cowboy cheerleaders, you are expected to tip to the hairdresser whatever the cost of the of the hair cut/colour was - so they end up paying for it in a round about way. I just think of the meagre salaries they get, it is absolutely ridiculous.

I don't think Taylor was afraid of her new hair, I think she just simply didn't like it. I actually liked the shorter length, but maybe if they hadn't layered it so much. I like Maddie's curls better, but the color was nice, color correcting dyed black hair isn't always easy
cj222100 I agree. the length was fine on her, but she has such a strong, chiseled chin shape, you don’t want a blunt cut with layers bringing attention to that. I wonder how she would have looked if they had curled it? Too straight and severe.

I LOVE that (though so sad when Maddie was cut the first time) but was happy she went with her natural curls from them on because it was great! I would kill for Maddie’s hair! Also even gorgeous Lacey didn’t wear makeup when she first tried out and she just got her glamour on and she’s truly stunning. Allie in season 11 Tess had her natural curl but she always straightened it- I loved it Curly like Cersten. And when Allie was in college her hair when she cheered in was the same state I live in (Arkansas) as she cheered for the Arkansas razorbacks, she was arriving in Texas training camp and it was much better.
Kelly was trying to save face on camera after the fact. 😆 She knew damn well that poor Taylor was NOT given a “DCC look” makeover!
I hate that for Brandi the stylist (and Kelli) went with just straightening out her hair instead of trying to figure out how to make her curls look more beautiful and really pop. It just adds to the narrative that people don’t think naturally curly hair is attractive and that’s really sad. I am glad though that it seems the organization has changed its idea of what’s beautiful since we now see more DCCs rocking their natural hair.
I love my curls, but my husband prefers straight. He wants short hair, but I draw the line at shoulder length. Color does not matter.
I agree with what you’re saying in general…but imho, Brandi looked *STUNNING* with her hair straightened. More polished & professional.
However, there were several girls who rocked those curls and looked adorable. It’s all subjective of course. ☺️
Well YES but it's a really old season and everyone in that year's were straightening theirs hairs. In new seasons you can see how they let them keep their curls.

DCC has a certain "girl next door" look they go for for every cheerleader. Longer nails does not look sophisticated. Also, curls on one girl may look great, curls on another may look trashy. They have to fit the cut/color for every individual based off of skin tone/eye color/face shape. Not all girls can pull off curls, just like not all girls can pull off pin-straight hair.

And also you should try to degrade someone by calling them name's suck as "trashy" and "stripper". IDC how a DCC is suppose to look. Its sad how many former cheerleaders have spoken out about how she made them self conscious and bad about their looks!
Let's be clear... Kelli is part of a team of people who use these girls ads SLAVES!!! They got paid 8$ an hour and had to give up even their own born looks to please.... BUT GIRLS GET THINGS NOT TALKED ABOUT AS WELL!!

They did explain it, they said it was a mistake. The stylist told Kelly that they wanted to make it a golden blonde and accidentally mixed the color incorrectly.

Every time they say one of the candidates has some friends in her hair, I don't think extensions. I think things like lice, dandruff, etc. I kind of cringe every time.
If I was the one they put pigtails in (I wish lol)...I would have fought to wear them! She would definitely be instantly famous, and you can actually do a lot of different pigtails, braided different colored ponytail holders, etc.

Hers was just very drastic. I think Taylor wasn’t used to that style. After she processed her look I think she learned to like it!😊

Ava Jenkins it actually doesn’t hurt that bad! I have two in my front two teeth or else my gap would keep coming back. It’s completely normal and comfortable. It’s a permanent retainer till the day I die ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What a fun concept to get the dcc treatment to allow women to feel good about themselves and possibly have a once in a lifetime experience. Especially now during these trying times. I for one would definitely love to have someone look at me and work together to come up with an new look

Not agree, when the face is elongated having long hair and a parting in the middle is the worst thing, the face looks longer! you had to cut her hair shorter and make bangs on the side so that her face looks shorter !!!

@I Dk They can't wait to do the makeovers. They have to do it very early into training camp. They can't do it once they pick the team. If they do they might not enough time. The work starts when they announce the team. Meet the team happens very soon after the team announcement and game day is literally right after.

I’ve watched this every time, it was on CMT and I just realized that when Kelly said that she would cut a girl if she didn’t have the DCC look, that’s sad that she didn’t take them at face value and how they looked before they got the makeover

The one that supposedly looks like a "stripper". Her curly hair was GORGEOUS. Not that she looks bad with straight hair, she's beautiful either way. But it is more common. And her curly hair was so unique and beautiful.

I’d never seen maddie’s makeover before. I wonder when she started embracing her natural texture? (I’m assuming she was straightening it her audition year as opposed to getting it permed later, b/c it looks like curly hair that’s had the life straightened right out of it 😂). Getting the lighter colors in it was great, but it looks so much better now than it ever did straight
After she was cut in season 10 she started embracing her natural curls and came back in season 11 (the year she made the team) with her curls
Maddie came back for her tryouts the second time with her natural color and curly hair. I love love love Maddie’s hair! Her natural curl and thickness made her stand out totally!

Every girl looks literally almost the same every year. (Not saying they don’t look pretty they do! But the whole show states all the time how they don’t look right for the squad because of different reasons that have nothing to do with dance)
As somebody that grew up dancing and after watching the dancing videos I agree. No tea no shade, it’s a lot of hip hop and a very peppy style of jazz that they do. A lot of it is about showmanship and while you are doing split jumps, you’re not doing double pirouettes on the turf.
What kills me is thinking that I’d probably be “not toned enough” or too lacking in facial symmetry despite having a petite body and a cute, expressive face. Like it’s not just about what you’ve earned from hours in the studio… it seems like you have to be very conventionally attractive to even get considered for this. Some of these girls that “blend” are really pretty in day to day life
@@MalloryNewcomb it just makes me sad cause they could be much more amazing if they did actaully have diversity. It’s not always just skin tone. Like yes fhat is also diverse but they make everyone’s hair styles similar and make up the same. Similar body type and it’s just sad
@@vampireThea Dance does tend to slim you down but not everybody. I think it goes towards the aesthetic. I wonder how much the brand is about following a formula for the image design. I wonder how the brand would do if they widened the margins a bit. Make it aspirational, but at the end of the day I think spirit and attitude is more important. And being able to look professional but there is more wiggle room in a professional look than just what the typical DCC girl is

@@vampireThea Right on. But it’s not about a diversity of body types. I did an internship for the Walt Disney Company (the pandemic did it’s worst so it’s a bit of a sore subject while also being the most Magical experience) and I was originally trying to make my way in via the performance art route. There they explained that they take pictures of your face and record your “Disney height” so that when you are considered, they will choose a role for you based on which costumes would fit you and which character you look like (if you do a Face character). Like they do not make the costume custom for you and so I could not have been considered for tigger because I was 5’ 4” and that costume was for someone much taller than myself. I mean Kelli even says with the DCC costume that when they fit the costumes if the girl does not fit the costume in a way where it will be flattering for her, then that significantly hurts their chances.
Disney was different because there was about 200 different characters and then they divided it up by height and so maybe for your height there about 20 different characters but it allowed for somebody at virtually any height to work as a Character Look Alike for Disney. It’s like DCC only has the one costume and if that one isn’t right for you sorry boo? It is rough! Because yeah some girls are just not that curvy but would look great in my opinion.
What I wonder if the aspirational image of a conventionally attractive female, especially of the Southern Belle variety, for male gaze or for a woman’s perspective on an attractive woman. I feel like there is room for some debate on that.
Why do all these women leave the salon looking like my middle school teachers. Lol

It's so funny to me when they make a big deal about going red and how it's daring and will make the girl pop, and then it's just the most neutral shade of auburn they could get.

Definitely Loren with the “highlighter blond” was much prettier as brown. And she kept it. Even after she left DCC. I loved what they did in season 6 with Karissa’s hair from the home job probably blond to her being open to change her hair was beautiful and she kept that as well. She’s a flipping lawyer now. And same episode as Loren’s highlighter yellow, the special Ed teacher who had the “unit” removed she was really pleased with hers. Season 9. Alexandra I think was her name.

GeminiJess for some of these girls the makeover can make or break her. If she’s a strong dancer but kinda plain then she’s not going to get as much attention from guest choreographers as the girl who is just as strong a dancer but has a unique look.
Also, they do photoshoots during the summer before the final team is chosen, so they have to have their look in place before then.
This makes me wish for a makeover… I’m booking one when I wake up in the morning 🤣
