Braves fan here. In a season that’s gotten arguably more depressing as it’s gone on, Chris has shockingly been a bright spot. I had my doubts considering his last 4 years, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised and he’s been amazing for us
How is it depressing? Because we lost Strider for the year--who should _not_ be our ace, as he has a homer problem--and then Acuna not too long ago? Asking us to replicate what we did last year is impossible. Last season, all the hitters pretty much had the best years of their careers. Doing that again was unlikely. We'll be fine. Our pitching is better than it was last year, and our offense will come around.
Strider is an absolute ace, he racks up strikeouts faster than anyone IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL, plus the metrics showed that he was unlucky last year. And losing Acuña is an enormous blow to the team, even with his slow start to the season. But I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Braves win 95+ games anyway. Your depth off the bench is ridiculous.
I still can't believe as a Sox fan, how abysmal and lukewarm the fan reception was in his return to Fenway. His "Thank you, and I'm sorry." comment also felt genuine and it is really great to se him absolutely shoving like vintage Sale again.
As a Red Sox fan, I’m really happy for Chris. These last few years have definitely been tough on him, and it’s nice to see vintage Chris Sale, even on another team.
Chris Sale has been one of the very few bright spots in an otherwise frustrating season thus far for my Atlanta Braves, and this is a fantastic piece. When AA acquired him, I wasn't worried about the injuries, because most of them were freak things. He's been tremendous, and I think his dawg mentality will, ultimately, help the Braves rediscover themselves for a strong postseason run. Again, awesome job! Also: bro... you've only been making content for 6 months, and you're putting out this quality?! Good for you, man! Subbed, liked & shared.
This is probably one of the biggest comeback of his career. His best season since 2018 and he's about to lock a CY Young to his resume and possible comeback of the year.
As a Red Sox, and all around Sale fan since his starting years, its bittersweet to see this. I WISH he could have stayed healthy and gotten some elite stats with us, or been able to contribute at meaningful times, but I also have to be happy that such a unique talent is getting another chance to shine. Just wish it was still with Boston lol
loved the video bro not a big braves fan but sale is one of my favorite pitchers all time, unfortunate he's had his injury streaks if he had the durability of someone like nolan ryan he would probably finish his career with 4000+ strikeouts closing in on 5000
I mean if he had the durability of Cy Young he would have won 500 games His durability is actually pretty good compare to the average starter these days LOL Let's appreciate what he was able to do when he was healthy!
I think a big help is how the Braves can keep people healthy and prevent preventable injuries. I remember watching a video of the Braves' medical team and the technology that they have is amazing, along with the staff.
As a Yankees fan, I kind of felt bad for Sale towards the end. Especially after his meltdown in the clubhouse. Always thought he was too hard on himself. After all he played a vital role in bringing the Sox a championship.
He probably needs about 3 more full elite seasons, 2 at the very least (2024 could be one of them) Let's not forget that guys like Cliff Lee and Johan Santana didn't make it and Felix Hernandez will probably fall short too There's a reason why DeGrom will be one of the biggest "if" cases of all time while Sabathia will sail in first ballot, durability is a skill too
He's going to have to carry even more now that Acuña is out. I KNOW. I’ve been working on this vid since last Tuesday and I was saying to myself. He better pitch well on Saturday. Then he blows up against the Braves. Raised his ERA from 2.12 to 3.10 😂
@@3-0Greenlight what I mean is that his fip /9 stats where similar to previous years. This suggests to me that he pitched the same way he always had, the only place he got worse is his hard hit rate. thats probably what you said in the video, his fastball was a few ticks slower, as he was always coming back from an injury and could not build up the velo
I really think we need to rethink the HOF not to just put anyone in of course but I think a 7 year peak of insane pitching is worthy of a plaque in cooperstown. Longevity is important but with how injury riddled all of baseball and taking into account the wider talent pool so less players get the chance to sign those long contracts that help someone play for 20 years we aren’t gonna have anyone to induct by 2040
I don't think injury prone players deserve consideration due to lack of consistency & longevity. He played in less then 60 games in what 4-5 years? Lol nah bro that ain't it

Haha I know, I started this video early last week and I knew he was pitching on Saturday. I was hoping he would pitch well so it would fit into my narrative but he didn't. It's ok though, I still believe he's back to his best.
Lol look at this clown who looked at one bad start and said "nah bro he's toast." That's baseball, literally every legendary pitcher has had dog shit games against dog shit teams. Are you new to the sport or something?
Haha, If you know anyone on the shorter side I'm sure they'd love it! I had a few other sponsors reach out to me before but I never did anything with them because I wasn't too interested in what they were selling. These guys at Under 5'10 are awesome and I've been wearing a bunch of their clothes! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Happy for Sale but I’d bet a good amount of money he doesn’t make it through the season. Players aren’t injured for 4 1/2 years then all of a sudden healthy at age 35.
I started this video early last week and I saw he was pitching against the A's on Saturday. I thought to myself. Oh great, he can have another solid start to fit my narrative. I was mistaken...
Sorry about that! I used his W-L a couple times throughout the video. But sometimes when I include it in the graphics it takes away from the stats I'm mentioning. It also makes the graphics smaller and harder to see.
Yes! Because of his injuries, he was never able to build up properly for the regular season. It was definitely apparent with his fastball velo down a considerable amount between 2019-2023.
Part of reason he was traded away was because of being a locker room cancer…remember when the white Sox had some alternate jerseys for a game back in 2017 I think, Sale grabbed scissors and cut them all up so they couldn’t wear them and forced them to wear their regular home jerseys
Mark Buehrle didn’t say goodbye… Our stupid GM decided to extend John Danks after 2011 instead of bringing back Buehrle. I know danks was younger and decent at the time, but Buehrle was the better pitcher. Sox win the division in 2012 with Buehrle on that team.
It's not as confirmed as the Astros scandal but I am aware there were allegations against them in 2018. It definitely would have helped them win the WS, but for Sale his numbers didn't get influenced.

Sale was on my team, helped win us a WS, then we traded him when he was finally healthy again for Vaughn Grissom. Insane. He's amazing when healthy.
Definitely does not help that Grissom has posted a 6 OPS+ in his first 87 plate appearances. That is honestly insane...
they waited 3 years to do so, did you realize that too?
Braves fan here but you got a RAWWWW deal with Grissom.

It's just hard to find good clips of players that played in the 80s/90s. It makes it hard to make a good video unfortunately.
