If she is found guilty after this circus, she will def have grounds for an appeal. I doubt she will be found guilty based on how inept the investigation was performed and "evidence" was collected.

    • @phantomsplit3491
      @phantomsplit3491 5 місяців тому +14

Based off available evidence there is absolutely no chance I would find Read guilty if I was in the jury. And I do feel that the judge's tone towards the defense has been a bit snarky. But I assume your comment is mostly in relation to the line of questioning at around the 29:15 timestamp. Sustaining each one of those objections was valid:
      - Regarding the 0227 Google search, that objection was for improper foundation (he would not be able to recall McCabe Google searching since he was not with McCabe at the time).
      - calling Higgins a "liar" is argumentative. He may have gotten away with it using different language, but Jackson intentionally asks objectionable questions and doesn't care about the answer. He just wants the jury to hear the objectionable question and think about it.
      - would you tell us if you lied is again argumentative. The point was made and at this point it is badgering
      - jumping forward to 31:50, the first question about how to make phone calls on an iPhone was a compound question. Which is why the judge said Jackson could break it down.
      - jumping to 36:27 the objection was for the tone of the question. It was argumentative.
      - jumping forward to the entire conclusion at 38:45, it was a line up of argumentative questions, asked and answered questions, and possibly (depending on what exactly happened with the order to maintain the phone), misstating or improper characterization of evidence.
      - Jumping back to 19:45 it is once again argumentative, as well as asked and answered. Both valid objections.
I have disagreed with several of the questions for which the judge sustained objections. I disagree with her sustaining the objection at 36:32. I'm not really sure why she did so, but Jackson rephrased the question and then she allowed the question overruling the prosecutions objection. The way this was done makes me think the judge maybe viewed the original objectionable question as being compound, but she does sustain a lot of questions with the word "destroy" in it so maybe she sees the phrase as argumentative. Again, I don't agree but she's a judge and I am not. I also don't see why the question at 37:08 was answered. Maybe the judge saw it as calling for speculation, but with his experience I think he should have been allowed to answer.
But besides these two outliers, each sustained objection in this video during defense questioning of Higgins are valid objections in my book.

@@phantomsplit3491 Those are very good points. I was mostly talking about the objections relating to destroying the phone, which in my opinion were very straight forward questions with clear answers that they were simply trying really hard to dodge responding to. I think Karen flirted with Higgins to get back at John and to get some confidence back. But you only do that if you want to stay in the relationship. If she wanted out she could have packed her bags the day they came back from Aruba. There's no motive for murder here, yet. He wouldn't be able to ID Colin, but he went to the twins party, a family function, andnpossibly other gatherings, parties, etc.
And during this trial, Camden locals have photos of all the witnesses (co-conspirators?) vehicles at the Alberts house together? Including the McCabe's when Jen was technically still on the stand?

Why does the prosecutor keep falling into the same trap of not bringing up the stuff that looks bad for these witnesses, while he’s still doing direct examination?
Every. Single. Time. They fail to bring up all this shady, inconsistent, or downright suspicious stuff that the witnesses are hiding, and the defense gets to be the ones to introduce it to the jury and not only does it have more of an impact but it also makes it looks like the prosecutor is hiding it too!!
I just don’t get why they keeeeppp doinnngggg that…

Going back to Canton PD is also funky. To move cars? He said he was exhausted and just wanted to go home earlier because it was a long day…. But nooo theres time for that.
So many holes that didn’t make sense. I have a feeling that this is put doubt in the jury already.

A major part of this horrible story is when the O'Keefe family comprehends that their beloved 7:28 son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, et c was murdered , not by Karen, but by "other cops... by some of their own."... Another aspect of this tragedy.
