the size she's eating is exactly right. if we REALLY paid attention to our bodies, eliminated snacking, eating between meals AND ate meals that were nutritionally dense, we'd find that our quantities of food would decrease. the goal is to eat to satisfaction, not fullness or bloat. we chronically overeat. period. go head Valeria! ps: like Valeria, i also eat whatever i want, when i want. meaning, i eat a salad for breakfast if that's what my body wants. i can eat the same thing daily as well.

You’re right, except there’s nothing inherently wrong with snacking. Especially for those of us who can’t stomach big meals and prefer to eat little and often, or if you’re trying to put on weight.
@@ohwellwhateverr I think we have different definitions of snacking. For me, esp in the part of the world I'm in, snacking refers to the consumption of nutritionally-empty/compromised, "filler foods" that are eaten mindlessly, usually for pleasure and not because the person is hungry. I don't want to jump to conclusions but it sounds like when you say you snack, you're referring to eating real meals throughout the day but in small quantities.

Val you’re a nutritionist. Weird you’re talking about food combining when it makes no sense cz the stomach literally has an extra layer of muscle to mix food and only opens the valve to the small intestine long after you’re done eating. Trendy does not equal truth🤷🏾♀️
THANK YOU! This is the trend at the moment - and it makes absolutely no sense. It is so disappointing to see so many influential figures recommending this with a sense of 'this all makes sense', when in reality, there is no scientific literature to back it up. I can't wrap my head around the amount of misinformation that is spread :(

the fruit is quickly digested and rots in the stomach if you eat after foods that are slowly digested like meat, sorry for bad english, but you understood ☺️
@@elizavetakalaeva615 so food combining is based on the idea that what you eat first gets digested first and thus affects how the food you eat afterwards is digested and that the gastrointestinal system is one long tube without demarcation.This is impossible because the stomach breaks down and mixes your food into a ball called chyme with the action of 3 muscle layers to churn the food (usually intestines only have 2 muscle layers) and a very strong acid similar to pool cleaner. The reason food combining is false is because the stomach acid is too harsh for the walls of the small intestine so your body has to wait for you to completely stop eating so that it can stop the stomach from releasing acid and make it safe for the valve between the stomach and small intestine to open then the chyme can enter the small intestine.

Im sure almost no one experiences digestion problems because of the time/ quantitiy of their fruit consumption. Food combining isn't scientifically proven to work. Our bodies are complicated and understanding them is difficult but the more extreme version of the food combining diet isn't the way. And it's ok to eat carbs people! even if you're not trying to gain muscle..

That didn’t seem to me an approach on how to nurture your body but rather “how to cope
with roughly 1,200 calories”. Considering that she seems so active throughout the day, is a mum of three boys and a nutritionist... Didn’t seem to me the proper amount of calories for a healthy adult woman. I appreciate her honesty though.
she might be snacking in between meals, and it's easy to get 500+ additional calories by just eating fruit. Also, 1200 calories is fine, we as humanity (western world) should stop abusing calories, it's bad for our health and our planet. (obesity is a MUCH more prevalent issue than anorexia, although both can be dangerous). Valeria shows zero signs of malnourishment, you can tell by her fuller youthful face (sunken cheeks if the first sign of anorexia) and her full natural breasts (breast are mostly composed of fat), which means she's not depriving herself.
I started following you in January 2019. I stayed all year writing you nice comments that would have made you happy. Throughout 2020 I have not been that active anymore and I have missed your videos. Now I'm proud to have started to cheer you up with nice comments and always listen to your advice❤❤

My mom always said to me to eat fruits or salads/veggies first and everyone thought I was weird😂 even now I still do this out of habit, don't even realise, but it's such a good way to avoid bloating

How she eats can be considered by many people as a healthy norm also because she is a nutritionist. I know. Everyone is different and someone needs to eat more/less, but what Valeria eats is barely 1200 calories. As I said. These portions are ideal for a child

I hoped when you started off by saying you needed to eat more that there would be normal realistic portions... but this is less than I would feed to a child... a small toast... black coffee... salad with barely any visible toppings... tiny amount of protein even though you said you want muscle... and no snacks or even dark chocolate... also saying "I need carbs because I'm trying to build muscle..." is irresponsible because EVERYONE needs carbs for their brain and their body to function...
Right?! For someone who genuinely seems to want to improve their body and their health, she eats very little and talks very restrictive about food. I don't know if that's her intention, but to me this video didn't seem any different from any other of her food related videos, even though she did say her mindset has changed.
@@vuurstuurder totally! Being a mum of three boys, plus all the physical activity that she does such as surfing, I was negatively surprised to see how little she eats! Especially if you consider that she’s studied nutrition and has such a huge platform! I appreciate her honesty and approach but I think no one should ever get close eat the way she does.
No you don’t need carb because your body uses keton-bodies (from breaking down fat) and uses that as fuel.. and these is a process calles gluconeogenese (live) where your body builds it’s own carbs (without releasing insulin) that it need for tissues like brain (app. 30-40 grams a day)

I love how you don’t label foods as “good” or “bad”, but instead focus on balance: Proteins, fats, and fiber. Yes, maybe the carbs are a little low BUT every body has different needs so if that’s what makes your body feel your best, this is awesome. And food shouldn’t be stressful! It should be yummy, nourishing, and most importantly a fun way to try out new recipes 💛

I have to say... These meals are what I personally would eat to maintain or lose weight. 😅 To gain... It would be so much more, more meals or bigger plus heavier meals, And I don't mean necessarily unhealthy heavy meals.

The kids go to school in Costa Rica? It’s my dream to go there. I highly recommend you to add more plantbased protein in your diet for example lentils, chickpeas, red kidney beans, hummus. Plus it’s also high in fiber 👍🏽

Great video! I've been mountain biking for the past year and I struggle with not eating enough (bonking) or eating too much (sweets, big carb loads)....this video is a great reminder of what to eat. More greens! 👍 Add banana to your protein shake and it will be glorious!

Do you have some tips on how to get rid of chocolate craving
I can give you an advice if you'd like to hear as I struggled with the same problem for a few years. It turned out that I was just addicted to sugar and and tries of reducing the amount of sugar (sweet) didn't end up well. So I quitted sugar AT ALL for a few months (I guess it was 3 months) and I got rid of aaaany sugar cravings. Now I eat a little bit of sweets if o want to (I'd say once, twice a week) but don't feel like I need more. I need to highlight: reducing sugar dodnt work tho I have a strong willpower (regarding to other aspects of life), I needed to completely give up on it. And it was hard for the first 3-4 weeks, I'd say. Then I completely forgot about the existence of sweets 😅. Good luck! 🥰

A little chocolate every day is not bad, I feel like all in moderation as they say 🌟 dark chocolate is obviously more healthy then most 💕 I eat sugar everyday more so from fruits xxx
I had gestational diabetes during my last pregnancy.. so I could eat no sugars and carbs for 2 months. Let me tell you... I craved them so bad, that my husband fed me chocolate cake in the delivery room. It takes a long time to get rid of those sugar cravings, so keep strong for several months if you try it.

I think as a society we have forgotten how to eat intuitively. If you eat nutrient dense food, enough to stop you from being hungry, and listen to what your body needs that's all that matters. I eat less than that and don't eat after 6. No more bloating, irregular period, sluggishness and I'm losing some baby weight. I don't work out or work so I don't see why I should stress myself over calories macros and all that. Listen to your bodies ❤️

Loved this! The only thing I’d suggest to be careful with is eating citrus on an empty stomach. Even if you have perfectly healthy guts (lucky you! haha), you can still damage them by adding that acid straight in without eating something less acidic first 😉
