    There are actually three tabs with holes, they are for attaching guy ropes for stability. With the height of the stovepipe, if you are using it outside a tent it needs the extra support if it gets windy.

    Hi Land Ranger. I had to do the comparison between the Frontier and the Helsport stoves for our customers. There is a big price difference between the two and wanted to show the difference and pros and cons of both.

    Which tent is it? Does the stove work in a luxe outdoor tent ?

  • @JoachimPetersson
    @JoachimPetersson 9 років тому +1

    When you have a stove in a tent like this, and open the top, doesen´t it rain/snow in the tent? I´m thinking of buy a tent like this, and later even a stove.

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  9 років тому +1

      Hi Ghostman113, what you need to use is a cowl around the flue pipe at the point where the pipe exits the tent. This keeps the hot pipe away from the tent material and means you can close the top/hood tight around the cowl, preventing the elements getting in. We have pictures of the Tamarack Stove Cowl on our website so you can see close up what it is. Hope that helps.

    Good review , I'm certainly going to purchase the frontier. Just a quick question, your shelter looks great, what shelter is it and where did u get it from.

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  10 років тому

      Hi stuart g . It's the Helsport Varanger Lavvu, 8-10 man. You can also get an inner tent and ground sheet for it. We've sold them for many years now at Tamarack Outdoors, really good tent, works fantastic with the stove. Check out our website, www.tamarackoutdoors.co.uk. We also posted a separate video on it in the same section as the stove review. Cheers.

    Can the water heater boil water for a cup of tea or would you use a pan on the cooker part of the stove?

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  10 років тому +4

      If you want a quick brew, a pan or kettle on the stove top is fastest. We use the water heater for a ready supply of hot water for everyday use and speeding up boil times for cooking and hot drinks. The heater also acts like a radiator in a cold tent. Good piece of kit.

    Hi Mike great review of the stove. I was camping at the weekend and there was a few people with them and one was using it in a Helsports Kongsvold and it was nice and warm in it with this stove. do you still sell the lodge logic skillet as i am after one
    Take care
    Gillian

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  10 років тому

      Hi ***** We don't sell the Lodge Logic range now, we're using products from Petromax. Have a look at their heavy duty cast iron frying pan, if it isn't on our web site drop us an email and we can check availability. Thanks for the comment.

    Do you have a link to where these stoves can be purchased?

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  10 років тому

      Sorry BUDDY LIGHT missed your comments. Leave the damper open when lighting the stove, key to lighting is dry, thin kindling to get some quick heat to warm up the flue, this will get a good draw going - we've added a link onto the end of the video where you can purchase the stove... thanks

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  9 років тому

      Hi +Jesusandbible. There is no baffle on the inside of the stove. There is an adjustable damper in the lowest section of flue pipe but no baffle.

      is smoke supposed to come out of the toplate thingy? surely not . it does in mine and that's surely not a good/safe thing for insife a tent.....

    • @Jesusandbible

      There is one of these now with a glass fireproof glass window in the front. I would FAR prefer it stands on 4 legs, and would stand up on a metal desk without thee legs on.

    is that barrel how long? 2meter or more?

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  8 років тому +1

      Hi Jasper. The packed size of the Frontier is 300 x 300 x 500 mm and the flue pipe when assembled is around 2.4 mtrs. Hope that helps.

    What kind of paper did you use?

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  9 років тому

      Hi +Diver Down. It's called 'Hammaro Paper' - which is a chemical free, bio-degradable paper that can be split and lights with a spark. Great for lighting stoves, BBQs or camp fires and good for practising fire-by-spark.

    has anyone used wood pellets with the frontier? if so does it work?

    • @tamarackoutdoors
      @tamarackoutdoors  10 років тому

      Interesting question ryanhenry21. We've never tried. Normally you need a pellet basket for wood burners, but it would need to fit the stove. Might give this a go over the winter. Cheers

    Smoke rises. Your pipe connections need to be reversed. They should not go OVER the pipe going up. They lower pipe should go INTO each successive pipe so no gases exit the pipes inside the tent.

      Glad you liked the review. So the Frontier is not the stove for you. If you use an alternative stove, could you let me know which one, if you don't mind? I'm always curious about kit. Thanks for watching.
