Was it just me? Or did Anyone else notice at 5:32, whatever that was that ran by...?
millipede ..... one of many unfortunate bugs here in FL
@@scantronsgarage LOL, yep, Texas also. Never a nice sound when you are walking, or backing up, and you get that "crunch" sound and then the smell. It's the centipede's that we have to worry about though, been stung a few times.....
Looks like a centipede and I believe they eat aphids that sucks the life of our plants... they look hideous but harmless and are on the guy lists. Leave it alone though or its gets the poison on its skin lol
THEY RELEASED THE KRAKEN - THE FOOLS
Came straight to comments after seeing that little critter move around the table lol
Volume. If I turn it up so I can hear you talk, then the metal clanging sounds blow me away.
I have 1000's of lbs of drops to get rid of all types and lengths. I would give a better deal than that.
Nice job 👍
Thank you! Are you anywhere near Florida?

What size angle iron did you use? I'm VERY NEW to welding, so I'm in need of specifics. Awesome job, would love to build one for myself
I.5 angle. 3/16 thick
7:58 light under that angle iron on the left of screen when you it across the top to see if it was square. not flat?
nice I didn't realize you could get a plate that big for 40$... I bought a schedule 40 piece of pipe it was 80$ for steel and 150$ for stainless so I figured that would be outrageous.
jesse brown that’s right! You gotta find a place you can trust and only pick from their drop section. They usually charge you to cut it also. So I took that s one as is
@@scantronsgarage I guess I need to find the right place.. $40 for a sheet that size is a great price.
The metal yard I've been using charged me $190 for a 4x8 sheet of 3/16, and usually buying the larger cuts is more expensive by the foot than buying a whole sheet. The cut-off bin of smaller pieces is reasonable at ~ 40 cents/lb for steel.
@@piechow Damn!! did you buy that? thats probably an average price for a cut piece. I went in quite a few times until i found mine laying off to the side. My place has so much work thier scrap/drop pile gets so big that they are extremely generous in getting that material out of their way. this build took me at least six trips to the metal shop
Scantron's Garage sure did, I build fire pits out of the 3/16” so I make my money back.. still a steep price. The other metal store in town is even more expensive.
buy drop only! i made that mistake before
What are the dimensions of the angle? Are they 50x50mm?
That is correct
What’s the length and width?
ii toxicsniperii 5’ X 30”
Awesome DIY build and video. Consider removing the music.
Was that a centipede/millipede?
Also, thanks for the vid. I am trying to make my own soon
Welcome! And it was a millipede
the millipede or whatever had me dying lmao didn’t know if I was seeing things or what! 😂
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a method to log back into an instagram account??
I was dumb lost my login password. I love any help you can give me!
@Trenton Dylan instablaster ;)
@Mekhi Mohammad i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Mekhi Mohammad it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
@Trenton Dylan You are welcome :D
Angle is okay in bending but is like cheese in torsion. So the good news is it will never rock across two diagonal legs ... but the bad news is you will have to be super careful to get it level along all four edges each time you move it, or it will just mimic on the surface of the table any twist in the concrete floor it is standing on.
Diagonal bracing joining the corners of the perimeter frame around the top will fix it though....
am I the only one that saw the alien creature come in from the right, circle the bench and exit in the corner at about 5:30?
love that idea for the wheels NOT in the same spot as the leveling bolts! First time I've seen that, I am definitely stealing that idea! This also is going to be super helpful in getting my bench to the right height without giving up storage space! Genius!
Thank you! this has been by far the most use full tool in my shop.
I paid $180 for my now rusted 4'x8' sheet of 1/4". I'm going to order material for my wife's bench and some to make the frame for my table. I'm still debating if to go 3'x5' as I'm on limited space.
Areyounutsdontweldinsjhorts
5:32 ish.... pet centipede????
5:28 casual centipede?
Fabricate my ass on that silly table without fixtures and hard surface that remains flat under a load.
Man pre-trump steel tariffs must be nice
Steel got expensive quick!
nice
I dont appreciate the anti-patriotic gang symbol at the beginning of the video.
Yes.. back when this video was made, that was not what that flag stood for 😔
What's a good alternative to quickly square out two pieces on a table like this that has no holes for stops?
Im not sure what you are asking. I have been using C clamps for stops
Is there any way to make the top REMOVABLE instead of welded on ?
Imagine lifting this table I mean my table is 2 times the size and it was welded on as well.
I had to cut it off to be able to lift it.
You could make it a bolt on but it is super heavy
Thank you sir 👍, Going to build one in the spring
Blue-line flag? I prefer the American one, myself.
Ok. I have the regular flag on my wall
I need to build something like that 😁
Thanks, could you please share with us the settings of your welding machine (volt and amp).
For this build, i was using my Lincoln Pro mig 180. C25 gas (25co2/75argon) with the heat setting maxed with matching wire speed on the dial indicator (not maxed)
WTH was that crawling on the floor! lol good job though!
Thanks! It’s a millipede. One of many horrific bugs in Florida
Great video, editing, music and oh ya, great table idea!
Good Job ,a bit big but nice Thanks
Really nice table. Love the caster position.
Thanks! This is still my favorite and most used tool in the shop.
One thing i hate is to get down on the floor like that and weld.
I agree! once the table was done, that was no longer an issue : )
Anybody see the mouse ?
you did a great job!
Nice
Well done.
Sweet!!! 👍
Top stuff thanks mate!
THanks! This is still one of my favorite shop tools
What is drop steel and why is it less expensive? I just bought a welder and would like to get/build a table on a budget.
drop steel is the cut remnants from full sheets. The fabrication shop will sell this to you to recover some of their money.
Do you have regrets about the height being so tall? I find about p*cker height is the best for me
No I made it that high on purpose. I have a bad back and do not like to hunch over. It also works well with the height of my stools as well
I know this is a old video but outa curiosity what’s the advantage of having casters and the bolt to lift the table off the caster vs just getting casters with brakes? My table is just on legs but the next upgrade to it I plan on doing is casters
So I can level it on an uneven floor. And so I can bash on it more with a hammer so the wheels don’t absorb the impact
@@scantronsgarage makes a lot of since will definitely consider doing something similar now, thanks
Can't hear u very well
thank you, I have since improved my video editing and have re-uploaded this video with better audio
What is the little snake?
It’s a Florida bug. Millipede. Or a crawling nightmare
CENTIPEDE AT 5:30 !!!! hahah that was great
Sweet job man. Actually clicked on this b/c I want to make some type of metal top for my matco tool box instead of paying thousands for a brand one. Any tips and ideas would be appreciated.
Have you watched my Matco tool box video? I made an aluminum top in it? And thank you.
@@scantronsgarage not yet. Will check that out now
Thanks so much for sharing this video great job really helpful for me👍👍💯💯
Glad it helped!
This might be a dumb question, but what is drop steel? Google says it's a type of forging process, is there a different definition?
big steel suppliers only distribute large pieces of stock. Fabrication companies buy this large material and cut it to their specifications. The remnants "DROP" to the floor and is either discarded or sold back to metal recyclers.. So if you go in and ask for drop steel this refers to their trimmed down remnants
Fajny stół. Zapraszam do mnie. Pozdrawiam z Polski
I've got the same welder,180 amp Lincoln love it!!!
Me too! Can’t beat it
Looks good! Thanks for sharing!
Have you , since this was built, added any shelves for storage? Thanks
Not yet but I’m going to do an update video soon on some additions
About how much does it weigh? Did you know the weight in relation to the rating on your casters?
maybe 250lbs.. the wheels are 150lbs each
At the time I'm watching this metal is about triple that now
Unfortunately yes. Same goes with lumber prices
What are the dimensions and what gauge steel is the top sheet of metal?
1/4
Nice build !!! Can you tell me what the open in ng track is that you played in your bid? Heard it on some other vids but can never find a source ..
A Himitsu Adventures...found it on youtube channel called audio library. the link is in the description on this vid also
What’s the angle size?
2 inch
@@scantronsgarage 2 inch of thickness? Or long?
@@miguelarosariotorres8002 2 inch wide/ 3/16 thickness
I weld stuff on my channel and this project is on my to do list. Nice.
Awesome! i am also short on space which is why i made the wheels on it. I recently added a removable vice mount on the corner. I did not do a video on it though. I will be sure to check out your channel.
@@scantronsgarage I am shooting for a 3x5 table since I have no garage or shop. Most of my builds are under my oak tree or my outdoor kitchen area that I never finished. I really need to sit down and figure what to order for my upcoming projects.
What are the dimensions of this table?
60X29 inches
Happen to know how much Total angle iron you use in feet wise
ii toxicsniperii no idea at this point
How would I go about finding a fabrication shop to for drop steel from?
i googled metal fabrication/ fabricators in my area. both places i use have the metalcraft word in them
You just inspired me to build my own, great work man!
Thank you! This was the most helpful addition to my garage. I use it every day
What was the measurements?
60X 29
Im really glad you posted this video. Didn't know you could build a welding table with angle for legs. I happen to have a decent amount of angle laying around. Also I have a 1/8" thick 2'x4' steel plate. Would that suffice for a beginners table? Thanks!!!!
glad it was helpful. It works well for light work. My bench is holding up well for what I do with it.
That’s a really nice and simple welding table. Well done! How’s the table performing for you? What would you change?
Thank you! this is my most useful item i have in my garage. I have since added a removable vise mount so i didnt have to bolt it to the surface, I think this mod is visible in some of my more recent videos. I should have made a video on that now that i mention this
How do you prevent it from rusting? Could you paint it or is that a bad idea for a welding table?
You can paint the lower portion of the table. The top surface was just wiped down with an oily rag on an occasional basis. Keep it bare metal so your welding project is grounded through the table surface. all you need to do is connect your ground cable to the table
@@scantronsgarage What kind of oil do you wipe it down with? I suppose you would need to clean it with acetone before each welding session to prevent burning the oil?
@@duey1083 I use used engine oil. and yes, Acetone when you are using it for a welding project.
Great job ! What would you do if the table end up not being flat? I notice you checked for flatness.
Good question! That was to make sure I did not heat warp the metal after welding.
Very cool, thanks for the video
You are welcome!
