This message is not meant to offend or divide, but remind us that we do have a culture to be proud of, now it is time to reclaim what was lost by creating our own COMMUNITY ANCESTRAL TRADITIONS.
Don’t mean to offend with the term “Blacks”. It seems that we change our community title every two years and I don’t know which one to choose so I just chose a more common blanket term. Whom I’m referring to is The Descendants of those who’s Ancestors are melanated indigenous people that built this land and were in slavery here for the last 400 years.

Wow!!!!! I stopped everything with the Orishas about 6 months ago and started working only with my ancestors! It was a feeling I had. I needed I even went and grabbed some dirt from the town I was from and sprinkled some of the dirt on any candle I light for the ancestors! I have been getting so much direction, understanding and help it’s been amazing!

I love this!! I have some sand from my island in a little jar sitting in my work space and it’s just been here as a source of comfort but reading what you’ve shared brings so many things into perspective because as I’ve been actively honoring my ancestors specifically I have seen a much clearer path. I keep feeling overwhelming amounts of gratitude and what you just shared makes it all make sense.

I did the same over the summer. Was looking into seriously pursuing these traditions and realized no one in my family has done ancestry work. I don't know most of them but I've had some breakthroughs and found out how I got to the u.s finally😁 . I feel a bit overwhelmed because even though I finally found out where they came from, I have to figure out how they got there 🤦🏾‍♀️... Pulling teeth for years 🤣

I’ve found that it’s not always easy especially when your family is hiding secrets and or don’t even know there parents. For me, my great aunts won’t speak of their father, his name, the name we carry, was not even his actual name. AncestryDNA is not much help either. Those that connect (2nd-3rd cousins) even refuse to connect or answer questions. It’s extremely hard but I’m still working at this level.

CLARIFICATION:💡I’m NOT SAYING don’t go the Orisa/ATR PATH. KEEP MOVING FORWARD with ORISA INITIATION if it is your Path, ✅but make sure to DO MORE for ancestors as a community with YOUR OWN COMMUNITY too! Keep going, but we have 300 years of make up work to restore our practices as an open thing WHICH still includes the ORISHA and LOA. Im not saying wait 300 years.
Orisha Loas etc is our birthright just as much. My only point is to say if hit BRICK WALLS in finding a Spiritual home, it’s often an ancestral obstacle that must be overcome.
Note: African/Indigenous Ancestral Masquerades are usually often led by the MEN because WOMEN are the GIVERS OF LIFE. Women participate, but the men are usually the ones to wear the costumes. Women first did it thousands of years ago, but gave it to the men.
NOTE: This video also includes West Indians coming from the English Speaking Islands, and is not meant to disclude anyone.
I added the Mardi Gras Indian bonus as an example of HOW we can CREATE our own CULTURAL TRADITIONS to be PASSED DOWN to our descendants hundreds of years from now! Enjoy! Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!⚜️💃🏽🕺🏾

Me as a Caribbean mixed, Boricua to the core, this speaks to my heart.
My african decents... the Real Yoruba tribe who were technically kidnapped from their own motherland to benefit the Columbus crimals crew on those three calaveras: La Pinta, La Niña and Santa Maria boats filled with my Yoruba ancestors... to think that my white Spain heritage wiped out my Native Caribbean heritage (Taino) in order to use our Black Yorubas to build the empire we are living in: THEY HAD TO HIDE THEIR ORISHAS BEHIND CATHOLIC SAINTS (Synchronicity) not for fun, but to avoid being mistreated (even harder) or brutally killed in a much more cruel way than a Wiccan witch using Maleficus Maleficarum process.
Did you know our African Yorubas used to get over any decease, illness, or severe pain by dancing 'bomba' and 'plena'? ...DANCING!!!! There was no time to get depressed or anxious... DANCE 'bomba' to the Orishas!!!
If we understand whats beneath, and whats between lines of our history, then you'll understand Orishas and the IFA.
If you want to feel Yorubas blood running through your veins... loom for any bomba music here on youtube and loose yourself... heal yourself.

i agree with you 1000%. When I first began my journey I was ready to jump to the Orishas' (Mainly oshun) then Eleggua crossed my path Thats when something told me to slow down and start with what I do know and if i dont know to get to know it (speaking about my known and unknown ancestors) and since then I've been working with them heavy. I've told several people jumping in with the Orishas and not working with the ancestors is a HUGE mistake and can come off disrespectful. Also i feel thts another reason why people are struggling with guidance on their spiritual path. they want to live others paths instead of their own.

Ironically I started my journey with no knowledge of the Orishas. I'm happy about that. My first priority was to work with my Ancestors. That ALONE has bought healing into my life. It has also began to heal others in my family. A Babalawo told me this would happen and it did. Spirit has arranged for me to cross paths with everyone necessary in progressing in my journey. I have several family members who had no knowledge of any of these things now putting Ancestral Altars in thier homes. I always refer them to your videos and books.

This is right on time. The ancestors came in a dream , grabbed my leg from the grave and said , help ! I knew what I needed to do. So we drummed , we have offerings , poured libations and we called forth our ancestors and we used blue candles. We did this on a live video during the Chinese New Year . It just so happened to be divine timing when we did this. Honestly after this , the community grew, communicating with them got easier and we also were able to work with divine beings afterwards. I think your being called to the collective to speak to us in a non initiate lingo. If I’m wrong , forgive me but i feel this pull for u to step into another role . If I’m right , I just want to let u know I’m here and always praying when u crosse my mind . But one other thing , a brujah on yt said ancestors must be 100 years gone . I said to myself, I don’t know my ancestors that far back , so how can we move forward respectfully! Maybe u can clarify because we have unique situations herr in the diaspora and the hatred we have among us is connected to the negligence of our ancestors. They told me the only way to heal is to heal with us and appease us of all we went thru. Ty Sis’Star. This was much needed!

  • @IAmIndigoMusic
    @IAmIndigoMusic 3 роки тому +40

This is honestly a message that I have heard about 6 times in the last 3 days. It's becoming abundantly clear to me that our ancestors are trying to reach out to us and understand the mindset that comes with a nation, which is that you cannot move forward until EVERYONE moves forward, including our family members on alternate planes of existence. I was litterally tearing up watching the bonus material at the end because that's something that I want for my life; to have my children already growing up in these traditions, with this knowledge and with respect for themselves and their family, accepting themselves and their family. I have no doubt that this is what will be.

I remember taking a nap over my moms house a few years ago, I seen a lady hanging in a tree with a knife in her head while she was holding a crying baby, I believe I felt myself running through some grass, not sure who was hanging in that tree, must of been my Ancestor or a mother figure, I still dont understand that dream till this day..till this day I be staring at slave pictures , I know I was in slavery time zillion of years ago...

But my ancestors have NEVER been about appeasement. It has always been about unconditional support. They would never block me because I haven't "appeased" them. However, they were NOT able to step forward until I did the ancestral healing. Some of our ancestors our bonded from their trauma.

Yes! I done cried 😢 Thank you Sister ♥️.You made this video for me as well. You are right we must reconnect with our ancestors. We are all family and we must appease our ancestors to show them that we are grateful for their existence; yes after so many years we may have some cultural differences compared to our West African cousins but we are here and their cousins have made it through Maafa!

I agree, and I have been saying this about "collaboration" in our community in every level I have encountered from the church, through hebrew. Now, that I am learning about my true culture, being 98% Yoruba I see studying Ifa/Orisha is a peaceful walk, but, a unsettling one, all in one. I would like to learn in the correct environment, as no one I know is being led down this path. Until led I just keep paying attention to people like yourself. BTW, thank you so much for sharing al that you do. I find you are one I am sent back to to glean from often.

Spirit has been seriously calling me to analyze my relationships and build tribe but as of right now I’m just focusing on enjoying the journey, being mindful and listening. I will find them but I know I personally have to continue doing the soul work and the honesty work with those around me because some of them want to come on this journey with me but some I know I have to release. I remain thankful for my best friend and partner who walk with me 🙏🏽 Patiently waiting to find my extended tribe - great things are worth the wait 💕

Thank you so much for this. I was just meditating last night and speaking to my guides and ancestors on this. I would like to know more about the Orishas but I want a teacher because I want to be respectful and I don't want to hodge podge something myself. And while I want to study and grow more with them, I cannot escape the pull to continue working with my ancestors. I asked them yesterday to show me if I needed to focus on finding a teacher and they told me to find your channel on UA-cam. I didn't do it yesterday. I logged on today and this was the first video on my homepage.

🙌💞Thank you for this! CommUNITY! After watching many of your videos just to find out what was hidden, I am not rushing any of this learning process. I have come to this in order to learn and honor the power, names, the mythology, the folklore, learning how to show the Orisha respect. And hopefully showing others that reject, are hesitant or starting to learn how we have been denied this history and need to connect and venerate them as part of our lineage.

Thank you. This is absolutely necessary it is so sad to hear about people rushing to Ocha or invitations without taking care of their own people. Our ancestors play a vital role in our lives and we only hurt ourselves when we don't develop our relationship with them. They are the shoulders that we stand on. It is because of their lives, sacrifices and blood that we are here today.

We represent a new and refined Energy and Spiritual System Sista. Our Ancestors Blood that spilled was our Sacrifice and we are now refined. We need no initiation. We are the Newest Orisha being birthed from them all. As a child I knew the presence of Spiritual Protection. As I grew I understood The Sun, The Moon, The Oceans, Rivers, Winds, Tornado, Volcano, Flowers, and especially The Trees were Living Being. We are like Flowers on the Earth-There are many of us. Our Spiritual Essence travels through our blood lines.

This is why it is so important that we all work to preserve the cultural practices of the Geechee nation, New Orleans, etc., because in these cultures can be found the African connection we seek out in ATRs in the Caribbean and Latin America. Our heritage is there, but it has been so well hidden under the oppressive Puritanism of American Judeo-Christianity that even we have a hard time identifying it. We must therefore uncover and preserve our own native African cultures.

Seed of knowledge...WHAT YOU REJECT, REJECTS YOU
    COMMUNITY IS PROGRESS
KNOW YOURSELF. WHO ARE YOU ? TOO many generations ignore the teachings of their elders or avoid communicating with them. Take the time to visit and go through those old pictures with them and ask questions, listen to the stories told the knowledge of your elders is your wealth of your life.

I grew up in a family of Mardi Gras Indians, and the bond, and family events they have is unmatched. I didn’t understand why my mom would frequent st.micheals church (I could be wrong it’s on st Claude) to do her candle lighting. But it all starts to make sense. I’m getting back to what I knew as a child but it’s hard. No one wants to help unless it’s paid these days. I do have some connections to Oya. I love this so much my fiance(11yrs) and father of my kids is African American(we try to refrain from using the word Black bc to whites Black means non existent) I myself am Caucasian. I found the Ifa spirituality when i woke up for months every night at 3 am after following into WICCA. My fiance never realized it til I was being called to it that Obatala has actually been reaching out to him but he never paid any attention to it. We just found out his ancestors are Cherokee(we knew that from starting) but just found out his great grandfather was full African. My great great grandmother was Cherokee and her husband was white man. We are currently doing research to find out more on both side(more so his side I am not too fond of white man) We are not sure of our ancestors on our fathers sides bc we do not full with them too much. Being raised in a single mother household. We are both from what a lot of ppl reference to the hood and been through a lot of trauma through our lives. When we 1st started our research we found that I am known as a ancient scribe. I tell him all the time I was brought to him to help him find his true path and calling as the King and God he is. A lot of ppl find it weird that a white woman is called to the Ifa Spirituality. I have never been fond of the white man Jesus so they call him I have always tried to enlighten those around me of the knowledge we know at same time respecting their choice to follow the religions that the white man created to be able to be in more control. We read books and follow so many on youtube to learn more about it all. We keep family at distance bc they look at any thing else as evil bc they have been so caught up on the white religions... If anyone can share with us any pages or sites that could help us on our journey we appreciate any incite.
