he criticized babish's dish and then came in and said "ive never cooked before in my life" this guy is more qualified than any chef ive ever met i pray he makes it far.
It took me a ridiculously long time to realize that he was joking when he said that.
The guy's version is the least traditional of the two, so I wouldn't call Babbish's version exactly botched if that's the reference, is the only thing.

Everyone coughing and choking on chili fumes brings back fond memories of my mom cooking. She wouldn't cough or even tear up while I'd be dying. Desi aunties have no tear ducts and fearless iron lungs :)

Experienced it just yesterday!😂
Same for a mexican household. Mom frying up chiles de arbol and taking deep breaths while the rest of us died.
Literally happening right now my eyes are in so much pain. How do moms do it?
Reminds me of chernobyl

My favorite kind of horror, the horror dramedy cooking show.
Babish: "Will thinks he's going to some cooking class with his gf, but he's actually coming to my basement."
Me (after seeing how the first 6:45 of the video has gone): Oh poor Will, you may not get out alive.
The coconut milk looked pretty thin. I didnt see anything that made me think there was much coconut cream in that coconut milk. If you're looking to mimic heavy cream, go with a can of coconut cream. Thai Gardens sells it and Ive found it at more than a few grocery store chains. However heavy cream is usually what I see in most Tikka Masala recipes. Using a curry paste though is definitely a better choice. You're going to get better flavor from paste, and alot more if you make the paste fresh and from scratch.
This is the way and how I make panang curry.
Exactly what I was thinking! It’d help with the color and thickness of the sauce, and the taste would stay !!
I grew up making it from scratch once a week 😢
Coconut is more of a Chicken Korma vibe. Double/heavy cream is more typical. As is ghee (a clarified butter), instead of vegetable oil.
Chicken Tikka Masala is a relatively new curry invented for the 1960s British palate by adapting a chicken tikka recipe with a tomato-based sauce. It probably didn't have fresh chilli and it definitely didn't have coconut milk. Just like every Indian family has their own unique garam masala made from a preferred blend of spices, it's up to you if you want to add these twists to your version of CTM. Some people add ground almonds, which again is more typical in other types of curry.
I think what Babish did for Will is incredible, he didn't outright gift a huge cash prize, instead he helped build Will's career from the bottom up, great to see :)
A grant is a cash prize.

Babish: Get peppers sprayed by the chili
Every Indian: *I felt that*
I love the botched series because it reveals just how chaotic Andrew actually is whereas binging and basics are very calm and organized
I can now see why the episodes take so long to make.
Andrew vs. Babish
Editing can look like magic!
I feel the way Babby was handling the chicken was a clear and threatening message to Brad...
or a threatening *massage* to Brad ;)
Taking out his anger.
It's pretty fun to watch Babish's rapid descent into madness throughout these Botched episodes.
This whole episode was just Andy aggressively descending into madness. I genuinely had a moment in the beginning where I was like, "Is he okay?"
The meta moment of babish looking at the thought bubble of Brad editing was golden
That was cinematic genius.
The scream made me spit out my drink 😂

For the tikka masala, try using only the cream part of a can of coconut milk. Just scrape off the top and leave the “water” part in the can. Makes it creamy without thinning the sauce.

As someone who started culinary school after not being able to find a job in my field of study, I know how it feels to not be fulfilled with work or studying. I’m so happy for Will!
I didn't expect to cry watching a cooking show. That was great, to gift someone an education, to support them and show them you believe in them when they're probably at a pretty low point in life is a huge gift to give someone. It's really tough to lose your job, it can really deflate your ego and mess with your self-esteem. And then well you're feeling like that you have to decide what you want to do next. Boozing with babish
Isnt that what this is
Drunken with Bunkin
The high version: baked with babish
This botched-turned-being with babish hit me right in the feels.
It reels you in with the Botched chaos, then boom, it's a heartfelt Being!
Botched episodes are hilarious. I love the almost slapstick interactions with Brad, Kendall, etc that we don't get as much of in regular episodes.
It's like a cartoon, yet at the same time you can't make this up.
I know I’m a little late to the party here, but this was amazing. You guys completely changed Will’s life! I never thought I’d cry watching a cooking show, let alone one focused on pop culture food references!
The most wholesome episode of Botched, the antithesis of the scotch eggs
This is literally the "just a dash" of the babish culinary universe.
Thats the perfect description.
It's no coincidence Matty Matheson was the first guest.
That's an insult to just a dash
As the 1st recipient of Andrew's generosity on Being With Babish, it warms my heart to see that these incredibly important moments are back.
Congrats to Will and welcome to the Babish family! Thanks, also, to Big Leap!
And since I know everyone else will say it: WHO IS CUTTING ONIONS!??
I'd tell you who, but the cameras weren't rolling so it's hard to say...
Kendall’s sudden shock-turned-laugh when she realized about the peppers.. At least it wasn’t worse.
Who's here after seeing Brad's confession on the Scotch Egg video?
The Botched with Babish videos always have the most chaotic, random energy. I love them so much. Also, when are we getting another Anime with Alvin? Love all the amazing BCU shows!

The wild and crazy just crossed over with the wholesomeness of Being W/ Babish is amazing and I love watching.
I’ve been watching Babish for years and he’s always very straight forward and stoic In his videos. This one really shows his personality and I couldn’t believe he was being so goofy it’s awesome

I was intensely confused about that too.
And now everybody learned something.
The moment he said "we are beguiled by fruit flies" a fruit fly landed on my screen, right next to his face - you guys really are besieged by them xD
Babish is an angel helping Will out like this but why wouldn't you also get like an Indian masterchef/expert dude's opinion and knowledge like for all the other videos like poutine and carbonara 😢💔
Tikka masala not 'authenticallly' Indian, its British bengali

This is slowly becoming like Just A Dash. Watching a man becoming insane by its crew and I am all here for it.
I love these for the glimpse into the Andrew psyche and at the process. But mostly the psyche. It intrigues me.
These are seriously some of my favorite episodes because you all look like you're having so much fun making these episodes!
This was everything I wanted and needed to watch I love this channel and community so much
We gotta get more of these episodes. Unrefined, chaotic, and educational.
Andrew should have a Indian Auntie by his side shaking her head vigorously at everything he does to make this a fully traditional experience

This may be my favorite episode. I miss working and I love the spirit.
Normal Babish content is very wholesome but this, like the coconut milk in the recipe, just takes it to a new wholesome level 💜
Best episode ever with giving someone a chance to follow their dreams! Any chance that we can have updates on how Will progresses in the future?
I've always made Tiki Masala with coconut milk, I'm not sure if that's a UK thing though.
Tikka masala is a UK thing, it doesn't usually have coconut milk in.
@@toddbod94 I meant it as that I thought putting coconut milk in it was the general consensus for making it in the UK. I've been looking at some recipes online and I seem to be in the minority that doesn't use cream.
Yeah I’m from the UK and I always use coconut milk
@@larrysweetlove I'm glad I'm not the only one! 🤣
The original recipe used cream, coconut milk makes it closer to a lot of more traditional curries
I've made Andrew's original Tikka Masala three times. I think it's outstanding just the way it is but I can't wait to try it with the coconut milk.
Try coconut cream. It's thicker than coconut milk and gives a similar rich and creamy taste you get from regular cream
This is my favorite episode of anything in the BCU. Loved this!
Yogurt is the way forward, especially in the marinading process. The lactic acid in the yogurt carries the flavours deep into the meat. You will see the difference when you cut the cooked meat and see how far the colour has penetrated into it.

Doggone it, I normally am annoyed with the platitude of, “I’m not crying, you’re crying,” but… yeah, this one legitimately got to me.
Congratulations, Will! Well done, BCU team!
Hearing the whole "being rejected by jobs" hit home. I have a degree and I'm getting rejected by jobs because I'm either over or under qualified which sucks.
I never got "overqualified". Why is that a thing?
@@GarlicPudding Employers often don't want to hire someone overqualified because that person is more likely to be worth a higher wage than what the employer is offering and has more leverage for bargaining.
They'd also supposedly be more likely to move on to different job if their current one doesn't meet their needs. However, OP is a perfect example of the fact that this isn't always true.
in my case it's both underqualified and no people to vouch that I have whatever work ethic I may or may not have because I don't bond with people easily and don't maintain relationships of circumstance at all
@@aribowman I always know things are going south with the "overqualified" line. Makes it really easy to change life direction.
Employers don't like the life direction thing either, btw. Because it might change again.
Apparently the ideal is for you to be chained to them by lack of choice while having financial obligations you must meet.
@@aribowman That's BS. Heart goes out to you for having to deal with that.

This was hands down one of my favorites!! 12/10 would watch again!
This is the BCU’s What If? series and I’m living for it
The Chicken Tikka Masala may have been invented in Britain by migrant chefs from the subcontinent, but it finds its roots in Butter Chicken, created by Kundan Lal Jaggi and Kundan Lal Gujral, the founder duo of the legendary Moti Mahal Delux. And the butter chicken's curry most definitely doesn't use coconut milk. Also, all the tikkas I've ever had always use red (albeit not so spicy) chilli pastes in the marination from chillies like Kashmiri Chilli or Byadgi Chilli for a vibrant red colour
One of the more credible origin stories goes that someone ordered Chicken Tikka at a restaurant in Glasgow. The customer was surprised there was no sauce, and sent it back saying it was dry. The owner was eating some tomato soup and suggested using that and some spices to make a quick sauce. The chef added yoghurt as well. The dish was born.
Certainly it's cow-based, rather than coconut-based, dairy.
Butter chicken is also a North Indian dish which is known for using heavy cream. Coconuts are more of a South Indian dish.
@@pabbaditya yes that is exactly what I was trying to imply, that even if the stories surrounding the invention of tikka masala are enigmatic, the curry can never use coconut milk because it is most definitely derived from butter chicken, a north indian dish.
@@kumarkanishkarai5014 Def. I was agreeing with you and just expanding a bit.
The char on that chicken is exactly as it should be. Traditionally the chicken would be cooked in a tandoor which is super hot. The char adds so much flavour!
about adding coconut milk instead of heavy cream...
coconut milk is traditionally added to South Indian dishes. Southern India is more tropical than Northern India which is more mountainous. tradition demands that heavy cream be used!
