      In order to run dredges you need a water licence. He was denied said licence for a few years, so he can't operate them.

      @@phillcom3 They dont usually replant trees (From the examples I have seen) They set the land up, and the trees sort of take care of it themselves. Forest will reclaim the land surprisingly fast

    I have always wondered about that permafrost, other than ripping it with the d11, is it at all possible that you could blast it with dynamite? Or would you need a special license for that?

      dynamite is too expensive for such operations.
      its maybe not legal to use dynamite in that area, explosives are only for open pit mining where the gold concentrate is 0.25 per ton
      and also you want to keep pay dirt seperated from overburden.
      which is hard, meaning impossible to do if you use dynamite
