This is a very good idea for someone at the very beginning of their journey. I started with wax melts a couple of years ago and I am now making candles. This is definitely a hobby for me and I have spent a lot of money on this hobby. I don't know if I will ever venture into a business but I have had a lot of fun and I haven't taken it too seriously. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way, but that's part of the journey. I can finally say I have had some successes lately, but I'm still not sure they are good enough to sell. Thanks for the video!

Everything you said about starting out and obtaining product ingredients is true. I am finally getting to finalize my wax, containers and scents. With that I have fragrance oils that I will probably not use again, definitely have some waxes that have been discontinued so I have to figure out what to do with as well as containers that I wanted to try and decided not to. Money spent and probably lost. This is a year's worth of research, testing, spending, undecisiveness, etc.
I've seen, read and heard over and over again: "Keep track of what you spend" but the fear of the amount has stopped me. If I could go back and change most of this long process I would.
...and please don't even get me started on shipping costs... :(

Just FYI, I bought the smallest kit from Pro Candle Supplies. The quality was good, but I wouldn’t recommend this particular kit because the math on it doesn’t add up. So it has 3 lbs of wax and comes with 8 oz tins (which hold about 6 oz of wax so each pound makes about 3 candles). So you have enough wax for 9 candles, but the kit comes with 8 containers. It also comes with 4 1 oz bottles of fragrance and they say that 1 oz will scent about 1 lb of wax, so you have four fragrances, but can only use 3 with the wax that comes in the kit. It also only comes with 2 bow tie wick clips (but again, if you are making a pound of wax, that is 3 tins. Same with wicks and wick stickers. The products were a good quality but I really felt like the kit would have been much better if it made better use of the supplies included. They do have other kits where the math works out better. Just my 2 cents on this particular kit.
