    That'll be suspended 4th where you substitute the third for a fourth with the idea of maybe resolving to that normal chord with a third. You can also suspend the second. So Csus4 would be CFG and Csus2 would be CDG.

    I was doing 'guess the price'.. thinking Hmm.. £300 would be fair, well built box, nice display.. seems cool ....
    had a look - £320
    so spot on pricing in my book!

    And the Midicake Arp even gets better! There is a big update coming. Can’t wait.😛

    Every demo of this I've seen focuses on scale quantised examples and preset chords. Almost all of them try to treat it as a sequencer. I thought the whole point of an arpeggiator was that it responds to live keyboard playing. It would have been good to show how it responds to that aspect, its kind of what it was made for. Its an interesting device though, one thing to mention - it deals with keyboard input differently than any other arp I've seen. It doesn't use the number of played notes to determine the phrase length, rather it imposes a set length on whatever is played irrespective of number of notes played. So that might either be an advantage - if you want to stick to four four time, or a disadvatage if you want to do Berlin school type sequence effects where the time sig/phrase length keeps changing. Or indeed polyrhythms, if I've understood it correctly all arps are forced to a single predetermined length. (I could be wrong about that last bit but check carefully if polyrhythms are your thing.)

      I demo’d it doing a track as that’s pretty unique for a sequencer.

    • @Farold_Haltermeyer
      @Farold_Haltermeyer 7 місяців тому +1

      It does polyrhythm easily with the new firmware, or staggering the 4 channels...actually refreshingly different from other more trad sequencer based approaches

    • @DaveBessell
      @DaveBessell 4 місяці тому +2

      @@Farold_Haltermeyer thanks yes the new firmware now deals with polyrhythms and note length. Its still not possible to determine note order from the keys though. Note order can be modulated but only by cycling through a fixed set of options.

    This is deff a NDLR inspired device, just easier to use as a UI, how much they differ I can't say.
    The NDLR is complex, the screen lets it down here which is a shame.
    I have used mine well, just that it takes too much mind space to use when using in a live set, all your concentration is aimed at this little box which is designed to take off the load?
    This device just looks inviting to play though.

    I'm interested in one of these. Is there a U.S. distributor? I can only find European distributors. I'm not all the way clear on overseas customs charges. I got a Deluge with zero customs charges, so I know some countries are U.S. customs friendly. I'll try to do some research, and find out for myself, but sometimes it's kind of difficult to get a solid answer. From my understanding, anything under $700-$800, doesn't have a customs charge, but I've also heard that being questioned.

    • @midicakemidi
      @midicakemidi Рік тому +1

      No distributor, Midicake currently only sells direct. In shipping from the UK to the US there are no import taxes for items under $800. There is a customs fee but it's around $2.

      @@midicakemidi Thanks for the reply. I'll more than likely order one when I get paid. I try to find U.S. distributors when it's possible, due to customs, but I've found that customs is fairly affordable from certain places overseas. $2.00 is super fair.

      All arps follow the global tempo, but the time division param can be used, per arp, to subdivide and create differential polymeters. We are working to add more options here for the next major firmware update.
