    I got this as a gift, can’t stop framing is a beast! Plywood, studs, beams, headers, etc.. I definitely recommend this gun. Noisy? Wait until compressor kicks off, dragging your hose, all over the place.

    *Used this nail gun for framing my basement and it worked great **MyBest.Tools** Two downsides are weight and its not a 30 degree. For the cost it was perfect for completing my project. Worth every dime.*

    The sound of the flywheel let’s me know when the gun is ready to fire in bump mode and I get in a rhythm. Never have any jams, and depth is right where I want it with 8 or 16 penny. Depth gauge works a charm. It was a little tough watching your test lol. A little spastic on that trigger.

    And to be honest with you you should be using paslode nails because the nails have soap on the tips which allows the gum to drive the nails easier ring shank will prevent the nails from coming out but the whole point is to drive the nail but that's just my opinion and I do agree that you should let the flywheel ramp up I have the 30 degree nailer I like it it does seem to have a hard time with the LVL but other than that seems to be pretty good

    I was about to buy one from fb marketplace and the flywheel wouldn’t start with no nails in. Is that right?

    I just got one of these and on the single shot setting it jams up ALL the time. I can probably shoot maybe 10 nails and then it jams. I haven't tried using it on the bump setting. I was going to take it back and get a replacement. Any tips on keeping it from jamming up all the time?

    DEWALT makes great cordless nail guns. I like them and they are much cheaper than the Makita. The only drawback of these Dewalt guns is that they don't like the cold! The only brand that endures the cold, by my experience, are the stinky stinky Paslodes. I am looking to replace my XR DEWALT with the newer Milwaukee. We'll see.

    can I use this gun to install james hardie cement siding? recemendation on the type of nails to use?

    • @jorbace
      @jorbace 3 роки тому

      Yes, you can. 16, or 8s, or 10s sizes, no problem. Don’t use it on the very edges of cement boards, will crack 1” recommended from the edges.

    Dude you cant use the gun like that you have to wait for the flywheel, just saying that you can do better, use the gun how its supposed to be used and you'll get better results

      No kidding. I'm not surprised he had issues. Use a product incorrectly and that's what happens. He wants it to be just like a pneumatic gun, but it's not, it's a different animal.

    Your gun seems to bump fire a whole lot better than mine... I jammed mine on 2nd clip fired. I unbolted two Allen bolts provided and magazine slides down out of way. This gun is perfect for me as a lead carpenter.. something I don’t need all the time. saving me to roll out a hose.. not so much for the boys. Slow on sheeting, slow on stud pack nailing, LvL headers... It’s Good for tacking braces, tacking plates (for complex layouts) (and snow) working alone, simple walls and blocking. staying in the back of truck if I get a call to go fix something... etc... It’s faster than hand driving. It wouldn’t replace a hose and nail gun & production work. Cheers from CO.

      meansled I’m not a lead, but I bought one of the first models out since I’m usually doing low volume jobs, independent framing, or interior framing. It’s a little slower, but I noticed using a bigger battery helped, and it performs well with paslode nails. I really enjoy using it to tack trusses since I’m not getting hung up with a hose and I’m not driving all the nails by hand. It will never replace pneumatic guns for high volume production framing but it’s a great accessory to them.

  • @kevinalmeida7159

    the nail gun seems to be fast enough in bump fire mode because when you try to go fast your nail pattern looks sloppy and if your try to go super fast your risking double feed and jams as well as the contractor than owns the tools always asking for slower quality and avoid wasting nails by grouping them to close. so to demand more speed isnt necessary and if you can slow down your sped to 1 nail per second it over drives the nails fine.... my tesla performs shitty in cold weather so i would expect the same for a tool

    Dewalt guns can’t be used directly after being stored in the cold . It needs to be warmed up first and I think that’s what you experienced off camera and when you started filming it was warmed up. And in my experience putting a battery in and let it sit a few minutes will warm it up. I usually put the battery in the few soon as I get to the job to get it warmed up and I sometimes shoot a few shots then let it sit But there’s other factors like making sure you apply enough pressure and make sure your work is stationary the gun has recoil so the wood your using can’t be moving all over the place and with the gun recoil moving you just can’t expect to drive a nail in my opinion so make sure your wood is stationary or make sure you standing on it with enough pressure

    Try nailing with some rhythm and not like a tool. The guns that jam all the time at work are used by the guys with bad nailing rhythm, and if a gun is used by this person all the time it develops its own unique personality in a way. 20 years experience, nail gun in hand for most of the day.

    ... you got the fire mechanism rough .
    Fire pin is up all the time, and when you push the trigger flying wheel starts rotating and the pushing mechanism ingeniously push the fire pin to be wheel and then flying wheel drives the nails.

      ... the Canadian framer doesn't have this nail gun, he has the type 1 or 2 paper clip.
      Dewalt said about this new model that is improved , because they put a powerful flywheel do driver to plastic collided nails and this used it to the paper colidet

    Looks like you were trying to get it to jam. THISE we’re pretty bad framing skills otherwise.

    • @DanSarahMakers
      @DanSarahMakers  4 роки тому

      Sort of yes. If I had called it a torture test then no problem! I tried to film it and forgot to turn the camera on the first time and it probably jammed ten times which required me to clear it using the lever on the front. Then it ran OK the second time. Based on my hands-on use and other contractors I'm around that use the framer, stapler, and concrete pinner versions of this nailer, They tend to not hold up well to real jobsite use. By that, I mean, people that didn't purchase it and expect a brand new one as soon as they break one no questions asked. If you treat these well and don't go too fast, they are great for building roofs, blocking, stairs and so on. But not a nail gun to nail off sheeting as fast as you can.

    ... thanks for your efforts, if wasn't for you review I could do a big mistake to buy this nail gun .
    I already have the DCN692 Type 2 and I am not very happy with and I believe this is improved model but is just a little bit powerful.

      I haven't seen a lot of great feed back on the DeWalt nailers. I really want to try out the Hitachi/Metabo HPT cordless framing nailer though.

    • @MrDINODINO74
      @MrDINODINO74 4 роки тому

      ... I didn't see a report from Dewalt about how much nails can I shoot in till I have to replace parts on my nails gun , all I know is if you buy one you have to do everything possible to used it big time in the first year because that is the guarantee you have one that one.
      Because I didn't know that I have to replace everything is moving in my one, practically I have to buy a new one , and that is not funny, to spend 380 £ to shoot 15 000 nails is unacceptable.

    • @DanSarahMakers
      @DanSarahMakers  4 роки тому +1

      Wow, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, there still aren't many options out there for battery powered framing sized nail guns. I would assume that in a few years from now, there will be quite a few good ones that we can choose from.

  • @sal.pizzurro
    @sal.pizzurro 4 роки тому

    You were not using it right! I have used it a lot and only jammed once because I did not read the instructions and tried to sink a 3-1/4" nail on setting one. You cannot compare it to the speed and power of my Senco coil framing nailer but this is awesome for carrying in the van along with my other Dewalt nail, Brad and staple guns. I carry a Dewalt blower too and no compressor. I love the power of air but I don't like the bulkiness of having to carry a heavy compressor and hoses. No thank you! True probably not many full time framers using this gun.

      Your right, I'm not a big fan of it. I have yet to find anyone in person that really likes them. On my current project, we have multiple companies using either the framing nailers, 1/4" crown stapler, or the concrete nailer version of this tool and they have all had problems with them.
      I actually hope they get better because DeWalt is willing to make a lot of cool tools. I see that they now have a coil roofing nailer that is a great idea.
