New Milwaukee M18 FUEL 20” Dual Battery Chainsaw w/ 2- 8Ah Forge BATTERIES! First look and demonstration! What do you think? @milwaukeetool #MarkThomasBuilder #nothingbutheavyduty #milwaukeepipeline2024 2024
Not bad for a big 20in diameter hardwood. This is a 70cc class saw not an 80cc. Being able to dog an electric through that kind of wood is impressive. Obviously if you cut exclusively 16+in hardwood this probably still isn't your best option but it's cool none the less.
On the other hand, Mark is not the type that will push a tool unnecessarily or operate it in an unsafe manner. He may have been using it conservatively, as he just used it for the first time, and on camera? I would dare say the 460 would give it a go!
A ran Makita's X2 tools for a while and they were kind of a pain in the ass. I've also used a battery chainsaws for a few years now, and if you're looking to do a solid days worth of work you need about 4-5 batteries. So I'd need 8-10 with this saw. The super charger doesn't work with solar or a truck inverter, so if you're out in the field charging isn't an option. Would have preferred them just doing a higher voltage platform for their OPE, this shoe horning 18v tools for outdoor power is ridiculous. You need the Forge batteries for this thing to run right anyways so what's the point? I'm going to need a whole bunch of new batteries regardless.
Forge or 2 12AH. I believe the 8ah HOs will work quite well too. Thankfully the 36v stuff does well even without Forge. The 36V blower performs similarly with Forge or HO. You don't need a supercharger if you're cycling properly. Dual bay rapid should easily cover your needs and 4 batteries, and would run off of a truck.
It would surprise me if the dual battery kit with forge batteries was less than $1500. The current saw is a decent percentage above the equivalent gas. A 70cc farm and ranch grade saw is like $800
Nice boat anchor

Seemed like it was struggling, I love the other smaller versions but love to see comparison versus a Stihl 460 and a 20 inch bar
I tend to agree with You tommy
