- Thanks for checking out episode 3 of my Long Trail northbound thru hike attempt! I chose to make a series of videos for this hike instead of one longer documentary style video. I will be uploading a video every Saturday morning for the next few weeks! Stay tuned and would love to know what you think.
day 4 sat june 8: woke up 6:45am and took an hr to get on trail. hiked up stratton mountain no view from fire tower. met a couple AT hikers up at the top and crossed paths a few times. stopped at prospect rock for a nice view of the valley and talked with a couple couples. walked 1.5miles back to trailhead and they picked me up and took me into town. re supplied at price chopper, gear haus for new filter. hung out at the town park talked to kelli and charged power bank. 13miles plus town walk. got burrito at pit avocado place and charged power bank. charged more at mcdonalds. walked out of town around 8:30am and got picked up! setup camp .2 into trail. 1600ft up 2500ft down. 30200 steps
day 5 sun june 9: woke up to rain starting around 5am. packed up at 6 in the rain and started hiking. tent soaked and covered in slugs. trudged up 2 miles up bromley mtn to bromley shelter to hangout have breakfast and dry off awhile. talked to dude from buffalo before he headed out to do 18miles. hiked 10miles to peru peak shelter. 2800ft up 2k ft down. bromley mtn styles peak and peru peak were very cool! hungout as it started to rain soon after i got to shelter. talked to mom/daughter from eastern mass doing an overnighter. cool spot right by the stream. 18000 steps
day 6 mon june 10: woke up around 7 and hiking by 730. walked by griffith lake and climbed steep jagged rock up to baker peak. stopped at lost pond shelter and big branch shelter. lunch at little rock pond and met two ladies with a couple dogs. got water at homer stone brook. walked by rock garden and got passed by the AT dudes. we all went to greenwall shelter. setup tent made dinner and chilled. 14.6 miles 2k ft up 2500ft down

2. Rutland / route 4 / mile 104.5 / 3 days, 16.6 miles/day
3. Waitsfield / route 17 / mile 163 / 4 days, 15 miles/day
4. Stowe / route 108 / mile 207 / 3 days, 14.7 miles/day
5. Journey’s End / mile 271 / 4 days, 16 miles/day
GEAR LIST
MAIN: 50L pack/rain cover, 1 person trekking pole shelter w/footprint, 20 degree sleeping bag w/sleeping pad
CLOTHES WORN: shoes/socks, long sleeve, pants, hat
CLOTHES PACKED: sun hoodie, puffy, rain gear, short sleeve, shorts, socks/underwear, camp shoes
COOKING: food/bear barrel, spork, lighter, pot/stove, water filter, 2 smart water bottles, 1 bladder
ETC: headlamp/batteries, TP/trowel, knife, poles, ID/card/cash/key, towel
TOILETRIES: toothbrush/toothpaste, hand sanitizer, floss, sunscreen, ChapStick, Ibuprofen, Zyrtec, tape, nail clippers
TECH: power bank, phone, airpods, gopro, DSLR/lens (for ~100miles); extra AAA batteries/iphone/USB chargers/SD cards
Great scenery and cool soundtrack to boot!!!!! Enjoyed the commentary as well….Keep moving forward…smile!!!!!
Vermont is a super cool and chill state. I drove to Vt for decades from my rural Ma town home to work servings banking equipment. I would then drive back every weekend to ski Killington. I am still making the drive to ski Killington. In the process of getting a home there. You’re doing a great job capturing the beauty of Vt. Thanks for sharing your experience and adventure. I think that rock garden is the 1,700 mile make on the AT.
