after watching the video of the guy who started in the back, watching this video all i can think is how lucky these are to be at the front and not mixed up with the thousand other people, on fresh track
There positions are made by qualifications , if they start first, it s because the did best time in qualif
@@Dovahkin0406 I think the video hes talking about is the one by a fella who had a great qual but an unexpected problem that forced him to start in the back
Starting position is a lot important in races. Starting in the lead or in the group will make two different races
@@maniaces anyway, racing with the awareness of that you may get hit by someone in the group or having to take over all the enemy is different to racing with the track free
@@maniaces It doesn't matter since you'll still be blocked by the hundrads of people in front of you.
I was watching the whole time and wondering how many wrong deadly decisions i could've made during the first 5 minutes
I'd have only made one mistake. After that I'd have been too injured to make any more.
@@cdogensis6392 are u ok now back to mtb ?
@@Hamza-nj7iy fine now, thanks
the later parts through the woods seem more dangerous, you might break a couple of bones sliding off the snow or dirt at 100kmh, but if you hit a tree at 60kmh, you're dead.
I was the same, I was so impressed by how he handled it
I always would be losing. Not by falling but taking the wrong turns.
Some of those turns aren't very well marked. Imagine not seeing anyone for a while and thinking you're in first, then it turns out you're on the completely wrong trail 😂😭

forreal. hard to watch killian won but at what cost
True but they all have to navigate the same terrain so it's still fair, amazing athletes
Totally agree with you
Consistency is key.
Unlucky I agree. But keeping your balance for the entirety of the race is part of the competition so I think it’s fair
Ignoring the fact this is a race, this looks like an insanely fun trail
if it was broken up into segments definitely
Me.. insane... true.. fun no.. too many hidden cornering clif.. suicidal

It looks like a death trap to me. I wouldn’t even do it walking while wearing a foam mattress.

True
That is the longest video porn I ever see. Now i need a break
I always cheer for Kilian because he's strong in every aspect of these races, including climbing and going downhill on pavement, and also because he's so self-aware of his camera which he checks every 5mn to make sure nothing obstructs our view.😎
I like how he wipes the camera for us!
But how did he know?
because ge got dirt in the face probably
2,00 what speed ???
It's very intelligent, at any point some water or dirt could cover the cam and he wouldn't notice and it would ruin the footage. He wipes it seemingly randomly, when given the chance
That's amazing!
Did you watch the whole video without skipping a second? Cause honestly same.
I skipped a second looking at this comment

I've never seen something like this before, and man I was HOOKED!
After the Start i skeep to the End at finished line
Six six six likes so I won't like this but here's the like 👍
Its not just the balls its the amazing next level fitness they have!!
I love these kinds of videos since I saw the run from Damien Debrosses starting all the way in the back. I'm glad crazy people like you exist filming your races and trails, so I don't have to brake any bones myself 😂
Now this should be an Olympic sport!
It is
Many proffesional athlets wouldn't risk their lives.
Todays Olympic competitions are safe enough. And here you can break your nect at any time just for little little mistake. Or beak something like knee and its the end of your pro sports career.
Big respect and thanks for "operator". Who even managed to win this race. Breathtaking while watching.
yeah olympics is less about real sports and more about broadcast/entertainment.
it kinda is.. just not as badass :)
@@BA500 How many people have died/broken their necks? It's people like you that ignore how dangerous life is in general, you can get killed more by a car driver than by terrorism but you're worried about people going fast on a mountain, HAHAHAHA weak as fuck!
Great job! And thank you for not putting in any generic, cheesy music, or music so annoyingly loud that you have to mute it to watch!! I liked just hearing the natural sounds. Bravo
Wind goes brrr
This is the most beautiful trail I've ever seen. You seem to know the track extremely well, with all the little tricks and shortcuts especially in the last part down to Vénosc. Congratulations!
Best bike video ever! Magnificent ride! Such a great ride, thanks for filming your ride and sharing the experience. Spectacular mountains. Really hope this race can continue annually. Congrats Kilian! Glad for no devil hand sign from you at start like the others.

Damn I didn't even start watching the video 🙄😂
Rafael M. Spoiler😂
@Soaring Hawk that's what a tight corner does
@@TBGmario that's what a girl does to ya
Moral of the story, if you don't know the race track inside out, don't even think about competing for top 5. Look how he knows exactly where he can pedal downhill and where to take turns, where special shortcuts are. He knows this route inside out, the tough parts are at beginning, trying to not end up in one of the many mass crashes, and the parts where you actually need endurance because it's going up hill.
Once the terrain becomes normal dirt/gravel and always going downhill, it's about memorizing the route. 22:50 is what i mean. When he finally catches up with the leader
Abalam de Paimon i was so into his path that i actually didn't see the leader on the left before i was your comment 😂
Is this path normally open to the public? Like, can some random biker follow this trail before the competition to know the ins and outs of it?
@@Ach476 I believe you can ride up or down this mountain any time you want on a normal day, like the Megavalanche race is just a public mountain bike trail as well on normal days, just in an amazing location ;)
Yes, I bet he knows where every Little Rock and pebble is too so he doesn’t run over them and fall off. Smh 🤦♂️
@@alecher1560 don't be pedantic. He knows the route, not every pebble. Hence why some people fall off anyway. What do you think they don't prepare for this?
This reminds me of the best part of doing cross-country. I don’t do it anymore since I got discouraged after four years and not feeling any improvement, but I loved the competitions. Especially reaching the points along the way and people cheering for you... I loved the rush of adrenaline. This video almost inspired me to go back to it, but I don’t think I could. I also did basketball, but when I was cut from a team I stopped.
(that team lost their season terribly, anyways.)

Chapeau to Kilian, he flies down the mountain at incredible speed. It all takes courage, concentration, stamina and strength to go down a mountain that fast. Great to watch.
All those above, plus a good bike
One of the best MTB videos ever made. I have watched it or parts of it at least +30 times. Kilian is the winner of course, but the runner-up was the best and the strongest rider that day.
You've got to give it to the person who come in as the "first loser". I hope he gets more than a "booby" prize for 2nd place.
Appreciate you wiping the camera
It's not like he would want his own footage to get potentially ruined either, now would he? ;)
My vid was so low quality that I didn’t know that’s what he was doing 😂
He ain't wiping his camera but checking whether he has his camera still intact!
If he wanted to make sure if his camera was still intact he could just look at his shadow tho ;)
Do they have cam tear-offs?

After watching this video, I can say this rider is a good human, his approach on fellow participants and everything in between....thank you for sharing this...
I see everyone talk about his race, which I must say was fucking epic, but we are all missing the point here... what we really need is someone in the middle of the 300 other riders so we can see the most amazing falls of 30 ppl crashing into each other in the first 500 meters, I bet that 30% of the riders didnt manage to get out of the snow because of the piles of ppl falling on top of each other and damaging their bikes or their own body. Another epic video is out there that shows this, for sure, we must find it! We had the pro perspective, now we need the newbies

I guess seeing the turns on the course is much clearer with your own eyes then on camera, because watching this it seems the turns are not at all clear. Crazy.
That's definitely true. That goes for all dash cams and whatnot. You notice this especially with motorcycle cams in traffic with situations that make the riders look insane but in person, it's not quite as nuts are out appears on camera. Makes the video more thrilling though!
