Yamaha pianos are really nice, my Yamaha drum kit is sweet as a nut......but the most impressive piano I ever played was a little Kawai upright and it's action was lovely and the sustain ....unbelievable.
you probably dont care at all but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Zayd Turner instablaster =)
@Wells Nolan I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Wells Nolan it worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my account !
@Zayd Turner you are welcome :)
Bright, Sharp, Clear = Yamaha Tone
Mellow, Soft, Sweet = Kawai Tone
Each of them got the unique character. I like jazz is played on Yamaha and classical on Kawai.
We bought K300, the sound is clearer and more icy to my ear. Personally speaking, Yamaha great too, would be a great one for romantic and jazz music
👍👍👍
by romantic do you mean romantic or soft classical?
The Kawai has a "tapered" sound board, which helps to produce a rich sound with less effort. The U1 does not have a tapered sound board. The Kawai also has longer key length (more typical to a grand feel/action), and also makes it easier to play keys close to the fall board. The Kawai also has a much wider sheet music stand that can easily hold 5 sheets. Kawai K 300 has more bottom end and a warmer sound than Yamaha U1. Kawai also comes with a 10 year warranty on parts & labour that is transferrable to a 2nd owner. Yamaha U1 also has the similar warranty with the exception that you cannot transfer warranty to a 2nd owner.
Sounds like K300 is a clear winner. I wonder how K200 compares to U1. I've owned U1 and (much older) U2 but now looking for a new one to serve me for decades.
That would explain why the retailers want 1.5x for K300 compared to U1. Whatever they have left in stock due to ssssanctions.
@@user-ds2yw2ct9n Really? The KAWAI K300 is 5890€ here, and the Yamaha U1 is 5990€.
@@originalstarwalker21 Yes, I'd imagine in the US, Canada and EU they are competitively priced.
The first time I tried the Millennium III action I was impressed. The Kawai 300 is definitely on my list.
It definitely impresses!
Thank you from England for the straight forward comparison.
I liked the video, but it would have been better if you played the same song on both pianos. Then, we can directly compare the two.
Thank you for the feedback, we agree and are working towards that. A lot more to come.
I think kawai has a stronger attack and Yamaha more rounded sustain. Yamaha wins big time imo
@@apianogallery Thank you for playing period. Phantom has a point about being able to make a better judgement if the same music was played on both pianos. I am grateful that you played at all. It was wonderful to listen to and enjoy. I just purchased a used Yamaha U1 last night and it should be delivered tomorrow. I am SO EXCITED to begin my lessons tomorrow too!
Thanks for the video, very important information and we can compare the sound of each piano!!! 👍
Thanks for a honest and informative video.
As a recent buyer of a upright piano - we recently researched both these instruments at great lengths.
While both are comparable instruments - the Yamaha was definitely more expensively priced. On a retail basis - it was over $700 more. I think it is mainly because they are a better known brand.
Kawai is not as well known brand as Yamaha is - but in piano circles they have impeccable reputation, a passionate following and, I believe, serious piano manufacturing chops.
We eventually choose Kawai - K-500 piano - over the K-300 -because the dealer gave us a good deal for it. However, the choice between Yamaha and Kawai was not even close, IMHO.
I am glad to report that we are happy with our choice. We have no regrets and have not suffered any buyer's remorse for over the 2 months that we have owned the instrument. :-)
Thank you for your feedback. That is nice to hear from someone who did their homework. We recently partnered with Kawai and we are very excited about the Brand and the quality pianos they produce. Thanks for watching the channel.
what did you mean by the choice wasn't even close ?
@@pablo-zn1mg - Yamaha - in the way we experienced it - tended to loud and bright.
In comparison Kawai sounded more softer, richer and mellower.
The Kawai's sound quality was more close to Stienway's - in the way we heard it - and which is why we felt that the choice was not even close for us.
The above aspect has been echoed multiple times, by multiple people and in multiple forums. This was experienced by us as well.
FYI - we tried both the instruments. They were close close to each other - in the same showroom space. Hope this explains.
@@apianogallery there is an amazing italian song played with this yamaha piano ua-cam.com/video/tPv9ZPXmFWU/v-deo.html
@@ShyamKumar-zb2mw kawai is a great instrument, no doubt.
I love Kawai piano
Omg the moment a 5:11 sounds so much like the beginning from chopin valse in e minor
Today I went to the store to test the K300, convinced that Yamaha's tone is not for me (after seeing YT comparisons).
I sat down and really liked the Kawei, beautiful. But once I tried the Yamaha, the sound spoke to my soul. A much more lively and joyfull expression. And this was the B1. So now I go to the Yamaha store to test U1-3.
I am actually sad since Kawai is much cheaper in Denmark, but what can I do 😂
@7.37 is that Hill Street Blues?
KAWAI's sound is more "European" = warmer with deeper, fuller and richer bass and tone in general, and I prefer it over the YAMAHA's, which is a bit too bright and "harsh". Both good though. It just comes to personal tastes.
Definitely! I’m quite sick of people arguing over what’s better when truly it really comes to taste and the performance you are doing
@@kelpfries6169 Me too. But I'm hearing Yamaha as more subtle and somewhat more subdued than Kawai, especially in the newer Yamahas.
Yamaha stands out like a young woman's voice , Kawai is a mature voice. They make Steinway's Boston...
@@tentrade2
Good comparison. It also depends on what type of music you are performing (the Yamahas, certainly like many say, at least in my opinion, are better suited for modern / jazz / some classical pieces of music, and the Kawais on the other hand are better suited, due to their more mellow tone, like most European brands, for all classical music in general.)
@@gcalvaro true. Yamaha works best with rock, R&B, and pop music. Kawai sounds better with classical music.
How much are these? Every retailer seems to hide the price on pianos. Guitars have clearly listed prices, but not pianos. Why?
Check thomann.com they have great prices on line, it can give you reference of what to pay in a store.
Beautiful I will probably get the Yamaha U1 I know more about Yamaha then Kawai K3000 but I’m think for a cheaper one as welll thank you so much ;D
Great video, Ted!
I like KAWAI
KAWAI WARMER THAN YAMAHA,. YAMAHA IS ANYWAY GOOD, BOTH ARE GOOD
Please compare kawai 300 and 400.Thanks
Hello, thanks for your video.
Yamaha is too bright from the sound, and kawai is harmonier and warmer .
Greets from Germany
Is there anything one can say about the type of music one wants to play on either, say chopin vs jazz?
The Yamaha U1 is more suited to pop or rock music as the sound is more loud & punchy. The Kawai has a warmer sound with rich bass.
Kawai ❤️
Kawai, so clean
I've very refreshing to have a different suite played in a 3yo video than the current set that have firmly etched into my brain after about a 50+ video mark from the Alamo Music Center done by the current pair of the reviewers. K300 is way more expensive than U1 around here.
Thank you ~ I have a question to ask, my daughter is almost 4 years old, how long do you suggest her to practice per day? Thank you very much.
You're welcome! That's a great question. Since she is so young, you might start with 15 mins of exercises, followed by 15 mins of fun time (just whatever she likes). Then, gradually increase the exercise time, and once she's sight reading spend the second half learning a piece of music. I hope that helps!
The Yamaha sounds definitely warmer than the Kawai but I don't see this as a bad thing. At all.
I like the "colder" sound. It has a very clear very like "crystal" sound. Love it.
I disagree. The Yamaha has a clearer sound, but less warmth than the Kawai.
Mine is KAWAI
Kawai! 😍😍😍
I very much like it thank you
just found this channel you earned a subscribe
You need a better pianist to show off the various aspects of the two makes. The mid range isn’t all there is to a piano.
4:51 - LOL 🤣
As a piano salesman of over 30 years, you are wrong in saying the Kawai K300 is made in Japan. The action is made in Japan but the rest of of the piano is made in Indonesia.
@stephendavies7209. What I’ve learned is that it depends on the destination market. K300s destined for the North American market are completely made in Japan.
When you think about it, Yamaha is ripping off the dealer. The Yamaha U1 manufacturing cost is lower than the Kawai K300.
Maybe not. Wooden parts may be more expensive to manufacture than injection-molded ones. The lower price of the Kawai seems to result from a mixture of innovations allowing a more streamlined production. Maybe Yamaha also charges some premium for their reputation which was established over decades, be it justified or not. I suppose the Kawai action might require less maintenance over the years.
Why is the Yamaha sound always so bright? Do they hire people who are deaf to the higher frequencies?
KAWAI K-300 ❤❤❤
La verdad es que me gusta mucho más como suena el Kawai que el Yamaha.
I want to buy a Yamaha U3
KAWAI🎉🎉🎉

Yamaha talks to me much more than the kawai
Hey old friend Tim, Don Nichols in Little Rock. A few facts that may help folks see the value of Yamaha ….
2 piece top (more convenience and cost) Kawai slow close mechanism is only one side, and not near as durable as the double brass slow close on Yamaha (more expensive and longer lasting) ABS action parts are way cheaper than worldwide sourced organic hardwoods seasoned for years of service, the yamaha harp is full perimeter made at the Yamaha foundry. Kawai plate is hour glass and it is unclear who makes it, the one piece fall board is more costly to make and works just fine with music. Question… why are K300 for all the world made in Indonesia EXCEPT the ones coming to USA which are assembled in Japan. Question…. Kawai backposts are LVL while Yamaha is solid spruce. They say this is better…. Then why are Shigeru post solid spruce. Overall, perhaps the K300 should be compared to a B3, not a U1 (K500 better comparison) In my opinion U1 (even B3) is a far better value than a K300.
It's clear. Kawai has strong bass but too murky, dark, and non-musical, it is fairly good at the tenor, and a bit plasticky at the treble. Yamaha too bright across but very clean and articulate. Neither is that good. Steinway, Bechstein and similar are superior but too expensive.
You have to compare within the same price tier
Steinway fans smh
Conozco el himno que ha tocado en el piano kawai, realmente es hermoso
Soy miembro de la iglesia de Jesucristo de los santos de los últimos días por cierto ✨
Monserratt Cadena Ruíz ahah me too!! 😊
I have yamaha u1. 😊
congratulations :) enjoy
Price????
Probably one of the most popular pianos on the planet. However, they can sound quite different through the series and one example next to another. Excellent piano series.
@@JulianGamer17YT 12k
kawai in this model is better
Kawaii it’s better
The Kawai sounds a bit looser than the Yamaha.
YAMAHA U1 WIN
At r:
Neither of these pianos sounds any good. Perhaps it is the sound recording...
Perhaps, quality can always be improved I'm sure. Thanks for the feedback, for optimal playback use high-quality speakers or headphones.
cynic150 no I agree I have a k200 and my piano sound better than whats presented. It’s definitely a audio issue
@@addison_1661 I think we can all agree our pianos sound way better in person.
Bla bla bla. Mucho habla
Your hearing needs more training, you probably can't play by ear😃
Kawai is no comparison, junk!
Yamaha is junk In this case 😂
I want to buy a Yamaha U3
