A surprising # of these ‘facts’ are glaringly wrong. No idea where the creator got their info, but it wasn’t the CKC, AKC, or reputable breeders.
Being owned by a Newfy is a serious responsibility. If considering the breed don’t take a UA-cam video as quality info. Talk to your country’s Newfy breed club, your kennel club, reputable breeders (can meet them thru clubs or at dog shows), and current and past owners.
Learn the downsides of owning a Newf, the health conditions common in this breed (the video skipped 2 of them). Understand the drool, the shedding, the very high vet costs (vets understandably price each medication by the weight of the pet - bigger dog, higher cost per dose).
Yes, they are FANTASTIC dogs. I hope to always have at least one. This video, however, has a lot of inaccuracies and doesn’t mention all of the downsides of owning a dog that weighs more than your kids, and possibly more than you.
UA-cam can be lots of fun. But don’t use UA-cam clips as the complete, honest, and accurate truth of anything. Particularly Newfys!!
Sorry I knew every detail about this except for the weight… my little boy is 172 lbs. I think your max weight is off a little. Actually I found the whole thing quite funny. I guess I’m the 1%. Lol
