This is where lack of scientific knowledge becomes a problem (looking at YOU writers of both Marvel and DC). Mining gold from space was a perfectly good solution to the problem of a lack of immediate funds. Getting rid of it because "space radiation", not so much. Gold doesn't absorb radiation very well; that's why NASA uses it as a radiation shield. Even gold exposed to extreme radiation would lose any induced radioactivity in about a month. maybe a little longer in a boulder that size. Not that they really teach that in middle school, but hey I just spent 30 seconds on Google to find that out.
problem is Sam might have found in a high radiation area in space, maybe on a meteor, still who knows how long that thing was in the place he found it in, it could be a long time since its big
+Stephen Rosal hard to say how radiation would act in a universe where gama radiation creates the Hulk lol,. But the gold NASA uses as radiation shields is a super-thin foil and the boulder Nova brought his mom was a sold huge mass, yeah it probably would take a long time. There was, however, a case from the 90's about gold shielding recovered from decommissioned nuclear warheads that was slightly highly radioactive and it was melted down into ingots to enter the open market, and that hasn't really amounted to anything. Anyways, comics, right?.
It could be an alien mineral that's similar to gold but it gives off radiation.

Plus, while both became a thing after the former was killed, Blue Beetle was killed in an epic way where he faced his death, I heard that the original Nova could have actually escaped but they just killed him off and forgot about him where as Ted Kord still had some good storylines in him.
MysteriousTomJenkins yes but it's not sam's fault they handled rider's death poorly. Also yeah i didn't know that they hated Jaime at first but my point is that if Jamie got(eventually) a pass than so should sam because they both play the same role.

I recommend MARVEL Unlimited. It has all of the Nova comics on there. You'd save a lot of money.
I am so glad that Sam's father seems sane. Way too many prisoner rescue stories do the cliche move of making the prisoner rabid or doesn't recognize their loved ones since they were captured for so long. This would be a sweet reunion if Sam can find him.

Sam’s honestly one of my favorite marvel superhero’s and definitely one of my favorite hero’s period. No one really beats Nightwing and Kid flash for me (Yeah young justice was my show) but he’s still super cool
