Its central nervous system is a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit that constantly senses chassis motion in 3D, creating controllability over traction, slides, front wheel lift, braking and launches. Yamaha R1. We R1.
2021 still gorgeous
Been riding my 99 Ducati 996 and 04 GSX-r750 on the track for several years and was pretty happy with them... then a friend shows up with an 2015 R1. Pretty is what pretty does and what this motorcycle does is incredible. Put a deposit on one yesterday ... :)

***** Yeah man. Surprisingly very comfortable. You would think not since it is so narrow and skinny, but once you ride it you realize how well made the bike is. No wrist or arms getting tired even after riding for hours.
I bet....I was blown away! HUGH Yamaha fan and Ducati.I'm looking for my 4th R6..now,BUT...since, I'm over 200lbs I may go for a R1 ....crazy comfortable and good looking

I have a question. Why is the headlight(s) not on when it's running? And can you do another walk around with showing the tail light actually lighting up, with hand controls demonstration (blinkers, modes, headlights... etc)? Also show off the kind of tires on it and your opinion on grip (if you've had experience with other tires)?
97blueninja When they are running, only one light is on because the other is your Hi-Beam, which you does not go on automatically. The tires are Bridgestone Battlax which I thoroughly love. Tons of grip. Nice big 190 rear. Never ran much bridgestones before on the street, but that may change (also track bridgestone racing battlax which are amazing tires but on 200 rear.)
are the headlights halogen or what are they?
A Ducati and Yamaha are two radically different bikes!
+Mcsikos90 That they are, I'm surprised Ducati didn't put slide control into the 2015 Panigale R, but perhaps there's a reason for that. They did include the new IMU, but they didn't do much beyond that besides let it interact with the lean and the ABS+TRC.

sold my ducati for this bike, how do u like it so far? the u.s version has restrictions right? in power? compared to euro/asian ones?
rtcivic I can't tell of any restrictions if there are any besides being limited to 186 mph.....is there?
Mcsikos90 im not sure too, i just heard rumors about u.s versions having restrictions lol i never owned a u.s version, only euros. but the immobilizer there are none on the u.s versions right? ride safe!
fast enough :D Don't know about the immobilizer. Have not hit that that high on straights as well. Prob 186 like my CBR/every other Jap bike I have owned last several years. We will see :)

Yamaha released the R1S that has no quick shifter! so it's 2k cheaper just 600 over the cbr1000rr!! I want to get that bike after the yamaha r3

I just bought a pristine condition example with only 1200 miles on the clock and I prefer the R1 to my Panigale V4S

Someone sounds a little butt hurt. The bike does not look like Ducati. The bike looks like a Yamaha M1 which was around long before the panigale. The bike is way more advanced than a 14. You do realize that design was five years old. That is why a 14 was so cheap they have to reduce the price to move a five year old bike. The bike is still a good bike but just not on the level of the 15.

ninjasupersport eh to each their own....the 09-14 R1 got very little hype. In this first year alone the newly revised R1 has received more publicity than the entire tenure of the 09-14 R1 being out. the 09-14 was huge, bulky, relatively slow for superbike standards, and did not offer much if you were to compare it to every single other brand out there (besides a honda maybe since that has also remain unchanged). The ONLY reason it has sold and you see them around is because Yamaha is top of it's game in terms of marketing.

Lol, i believe its a safety concern, most integrated turn signals are hardly visible and if i had to guess they also don't equip the bike with loud exhausts to avoid any noise related complaints, but beautiful bike sir, it looks amazing

carinyo123 Yes I have ridden it quite a bit! It reminds me of an R6, except the power band is more akin to an S1000RR. It is very nimble and agile. The ergonomics just feel right. Amazing machine. Now for the R1M.... :D

so let me get this straight...the 2014 is "supposed" to have 180 hp...this bike has 184...even if the 2014 had 170 hp, we are talking milliseconds in comparison to the 2015...the 2015 is thousands of dollars more and looks like a Ducati...for what now would you buy this over a brand new 2014 old stock if you had the choice...i would love to hear your responses on why...don't tell me because it is a moto gp bike because it is not...i can put slicks on my 2014 just as well as any other bike can...and even if it were a 10 hp difference, this bike doesn't necessarily prove that it is any faster around a track than the latter...CROSSPLANE NATION out!!!

Crossplane Nation Whole different bike. The 09-14 R1 didn't have much going for it. It was an amazing bike, just outdated compared to the rest of the field. They did not do much at all to the 09 R1 let alone add TC and minor refinements over the years.

ninjasupersport the 2014 R1 sucks ass compared to majority , if not all superbikes produced in the last 5 years. Doesn't even compare to the 15 whatsoever.
haha I love this bike, but that pillion seat is a joke. You better hope your passenger is light or they are going to feel like they are sitting on a knife blade. It is more of a race bike though so if you are going to ride two up I would assume you would buy a different bike.
For that money i'd buy a ducati
