I'm only a couple minutes in, but I'm very impressed with how effectively he manages to keep the enemies away from the hitbox of his whip.

@@Wool_Scarf if enough gems have spawned, they condense into red gems that appear just offscreen, and when you pick thoose red gems up, you get all the xp (not all red gems are gems containing condensed xp, most are just gems that give a larger amount than green ones), it is a bit more detailed than that, but thats too much to write in a youtube comment, if you to know more, you should check out the discord
also a lot has changed since i last played so that info might not be up to date, but thats how i remember it
The game has changed a lot but Northernlion still hits us with the same "this game is how I move in public" bit.

As a parent & spouse of a kindergarten teacher - trying giving her a choice between two options instead of open-ended choice. This lets her feel like she is still deciding what to have while removing 'chocolate egg' as a valid answer.
And you make sure that one of those options SOUNDS like something she wants, but both of them are what you really want. It's how you deal with students with Oppositional Defiant Disorder, too.

@@EVG_Channel I understand. It's called ODD in the DSM5, but I can understand your feelings on the naming. I have ADHD and I don't feel it's a "disorder" myself. It's frustrating as hell to have a lot of the time, but sometimes it's a superpower (though it's often the worst one to have in large groups when I can't even listen to what's in front of me). It's a bit frustrating as a teacher when you're just trying to get someone to put their name on their paper and they flat out refuse. So you ask "Would you like to put your name on the right side or the left?" Instead of "I need you to put your name on the paper." Most requests get flat our refused from authorities just because they're from authorities. At least from the students I've worked with. I know it comes in a spectrum.

I consider VS one of the best games to come back to after long periods of time, its like its always there for you to run around for 30 min away from spooky monsters that are made of 4 pixels

Man, I feel NL with the kids not eating thing. I made Lasagna once and my kid was over the moon for it, loved it, only wanted to eat Lasagna. Made it again a few weeks later and he was completely meh for it. You can't win. I make a mean Tuscan Chicken that everybody loves, nope. I make a mean Beef Stew that my wife asks for when it's her birthday, nope.
Kids absolutely do that.
I remember doing the same thing. “Pizza I want pizza you want pizza WE WANT PIZZA.”
Two weeks later: “Pizza is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted. Its all about chicken now.”

Hey, former kid here, they very quickly get tired of foods like that, I remember loving this one soup more than anything else, but then my mother made it for me every week and I got meh for it in about 3 weeks.

I've considered deleting my save just so I can go through the journey again.
@@marzgamingmaster I just started playing a couple of days ago on mobile (before you yell, i just bought it on steam) and you unlock a surprising number of things incidentally. Some stuff you have to go out of your way for. Like the coffins, I didn't know about until i unlocked the map and saw a mysterious icon and went to check it out. Thus i learned about the coffins.
The biggest surprise was when i started i thought the horde of skeletons at the 12ish minute mark was supposed to be a death screen. Based on the combat i had experienced early on it seemed like you were meant to take on a couple of mobs at a time, not an endless mob constricting your movement. This led to me to a run where i had Garlic, Holy Bible, and the Clock Lancet, where i learned that the stunned Mobs don't inflict damage and the AOE proc's help clear a reasonable path.
I've noticed with NL there always comes a time in a run when he stops trying to kill things and just thinks he can run forever until he gets eaten alive in a flower circle
To be fair, it's pretty inevitable with zero powerups
him constantly glancing and switching his brain off gives me anxiety
It’s always such a good moment when he says something like “This is the best run i’ve ever had” and then the next video preview pops up
When NL started talking about "Under the Sea" by Shaggy, I don't know why I instantly assumed he meant Shaggy from Scooby-Doo, and not Shaggy "Mr. Boombastic"

I love watching NL play VS type games (Isaac level banter) so I hope this turns into a long series, but considering how much obscure knowledge you need for this game I'm worried youtube/chat might backseat the series to death.

least favorite songs of theirs even though it gets the most radio play. The first album I heard, also my favorite, is Relayer. The Gates Of Delirium is the pinnacle for me.
Roundabout is not about taking a bike ride. It is literally a high Jon Anderson laying on a seat at the back of a van during a tour of Scotland, just writing what he sees out the window for 10-20 minutes, while his high brain make up words to make it rhyme.
The lyrics make no sense to anyone, but he liked the flow of it while he was high, so that's how Yes' most popular song was written.
I’m pogged for more Vampire Survivors but did he have to be so relatable with the anecdote about his daughter refusing to eat the dinner she asked for? Went through that with my daughter and I am currently going through it with my son, it drives me insane.

The mall is the coolest place to go see every store you wanted to go to be closed at 3pm due to understaffing and then the one that’s open tells you to order the object you want online. Also every store sells funko pops.

Hey, to be fair, sap is scary for the believers.
Dome keeper is scary, you’re being constantly attacked by shadowy monsters, trapped all alone on a dead world, in dark caves, and the monsters always get you in the end.
This may sound like just some internet person lying, but my Mom was the "Miss Coca-Cola" in her home country of Malta. And one of the Rush dudes met her back then and wrote in a few lyrics about her in one of their songs or something.

23:10 I know NL will never see this but I just have to comment. My mom has been a daycare provider for 20 yrs during this time she has probably dealt with around 40ish kids. Whenever the parents come to pickup the child she always gives them a rundown of what food they eat and how there day went. Everytime parents are shocked at how well and what type of foods the children eat and how they don't normally eat those foods at home. The problem are the parents 21:45 is a perfect example you do not "negotiate" with your child you are their parent your "job" is to parent you are not there to be there friend. You give them good healthy foods and if you want to be a nice parent you can every once in a while let them choose what to eat. Your child will eat what you put on their plate yes it might require some small amount of work at the beginning but I can assure you as long as you are firm and consistent they will eat whatever you put in front of them steamed veggies, soups, rice , etc etc. But it requires discipline on your part.

I think it's cause he isn't looking at the screen half the time lol. Vampire survivors is the 90% banter with chat 10% game play, game. Not saying that's bad or anything, it just is.

@@cleyra8550 no shot. Runetracer is one of the best weapons in the game. Evolved runetracer is phenomenal.
@@theStr4yD0g Whip combo's with Slash arcana, has great early game scaling since you can actually hit things consistently, and has life-steal when evolved.
His passive is also just generally better, since Might works on almost everything, where speed is really useful on some weapons, but it pigeonholes you...which isn't bad when you have plenty of rerolls and skips, but on a new save? Nah, Antonio is the default character for a reason.
When you have everything unlocked though, the game is easy AF, it really doesn't matter who you use.

So much has changed and its nice to see what the full release is like for someone who went in fresh at 1.0

The bit about Mall of America vs West Edmonton Mall. MoA has a larger square footage. Its at a wopping 5.6 million sq feet. WEM is at 5.3 millions sq feet. So technically Mall of America is bigger. However, WEM does have more store by over 200.

Your save could've avoided being wiped. They had a big announcement telling everyone that to carry your save over, you had to launch the game in the few days before the 1.0 launch.
