- BMW 745li E66, transmission Fail Safe Fault Code Explorationsdecided to rebuild this is how im getting started, had fault code concerning 5th gear ratio probably gonna be bad rear stator bushing, i will continue the process tommorrow

I have a 03 745li, 77k miles no gears slipping, but the trans has a small leak it’s leaking around the transmission oil pan, I was thinking it was the gasket on the pan, but it may be a sealing sleeve under the mechatronic unit. I know it’s a long shot asking especially since you haven’t seen it first hand but I was gonna ask what you thought ? I appreciate you posting these videos on this car have learned lots from you!
sleeve can leak as well as gasket. if you were to drop the heat shield you can probably tell which one. both fairly easy repairs. hardest part being refilling fluid, but you have to check fluid anyway as you have a leak. the gasket may just need tightening but to replace the mechatronic sleeve or pan gasket you have to drain trans and drop pan. can also leak where cooler lines connect, 2 o-rings. good luck! --- if fluid is dark you may consider replacing.
itryed to change trans fluid ,then tryed ti start ,put in drive,,keeps dopping back into park..help

Hey I have a 03 745li 202k car drives and shifts fine no check engine light 💡 on . The problem is while driving after about 30-40 mins it goes into N and says Transmission Fail takes a couple try’s to get it to start back up then drives again. What should I do?
i'd take it to a shop. something is triggering the car to go into failsafe.
after 30 40 mins trans is up to temp, probably overheating not good take it in before gets worse
@@crashman1963 I have a 2004 745 Li. It went into N a a stop sign and would not crank back up said something about dynamic duo and trans fail
Easy fix...change all your transmission solenoids, I had the same problem, no problems now
It happened too me also 2nd gear slipping.. But can still drive until Saturday? Or will it ruin my Transmission?
my son drove and smoked the clutches had to rebuild and clean not easy
I'm having this same issue. Check fluid levels and it's good, not throwing any codes. Car will drop into park on it's on and will not change out of first.

I had the same issue with my 06 750li..I dropped the mechatronic unit and replaced the rubber mechatronic adaptor and sleeves. And topped the fluid level back up..This will fix your problem..It pretty much was my fluid level was too low, but its best to change the adaptor while your in there...I hope this helps...

I have the parking brake lite up on my 2003 bmw 745li dash. I switched the plastic parking brake gear in the trunk with a metal gear since it was broken but it won't actuate after replacement. Any suggestions on what to do next?

the trans prob was caused some how w parking brake codes, it caused a failsafe and my son drove from va to nj twice, failsafe is like 3rd gear on;y, 3/4 clutches were smoked, sheesh.I rebuilt the trans and fixed the parking brake. got thousand miles on still going

yes, i fixed but ended up not being my problem...was caused by parking brake problem which caused failsafe , son kept driving, clutches smoked, rebuilt, now running

Hey man I have an 03 745li with 181,000 miles and the car drives and goes it just takes time for it to accelerate and when it gets to going it doesn’t go past 3rd gear so stay going at about 25-35 maybe 40mph with no check engine light just trans fault. Any idea?
sounds like you are stuck in failsafe mode which limits you to 3 gear, dont drive it like that. you'll have to find out what is causing the bimmer to go into failsafe, and fix it before you drive it
