Thank you SO much for taking the time to provide all us doofuses out here with a SIMPLE explanation of what is a pretty simple device to understand and operate. The manufacturer's manual is a joke, and the makers of the other 2 or 3 videos I looked at made the thing sound like you're operating some kind of nuclear device. Yeesh. Simplest and best points I learned from you: 1) forget trying to figure out how to OPERATE the thing by reading the manual; 2) plug the darn thing in with no load on it just to see how it works; 3) watch your blissfully simple explanation of the setting functions/abbreviations. For most users (like me), that'll be all they need. For users with more sophisticated demands/needs, if this video doesn't get you there, HIRE this guy to help you out ...
Great great great. My grandson just “typed” on the control, had to come back to this video to reprogram . Our local appliance repair service couldn’t figure out how to replace the thermostat in our Kenmore Elite refrigerator, so I bought one of these units to bypass the problem…and the “system”.
Thanks a million, you are really amazing explaining things so clearly! I was so confused with the manual that came with this unit. They really should hire you to write their manuals! After watching your instructions only once, I was able to set it up in the shed where we have the well pipes with a heater to prevent the pipes from freezing.
This guy is awesome. I was happy to see he had a video for the Inkbird ITC-608T. I grow mushrooms and his videos have helped me with my PID controller and now the Inkbird temp & humidity controller.
Thanks for the information. Could not get my controller working without it, was about to send it back. Works remarkably, now. Very good and accurate controller.
So glad the video helped. That is what they are for. Also glad to hear your controller is working well. These are amazing once you understand how they work. George
Excellent video George. After watching it i sent an order to Amazon Going to use it to controller mash temp on my DIY electric BIAB system which uses a 1650 watt heating element.
Seriously! You are an absolute dream to listen to. I love it!! You remind me of the father I wish I had!! Keep it up my friend. Maybe one day we can chat. Such a great wealth of information 😁😁
You just answered questions I didn't even know I had! FANTASTIC thank you for sharing... been looking on Amazon and now know what I need to buy. I want to upgrade soon from a pressure cooker to a 5Gallon still so going with the other type you use SO i don't have to buy twice as much stuff.
Yes, I did buy one for my 'home made' still and was hoping that it would be accurate down to .01 degrees but I will most certainly be good with 1 degree instead.
Thanks George for all your information. I have a question but I’ll set it up first. I bought a wood fired furnace that sits in my backyard and connects to my house with an insulated PEX pipe. My house is heated with a hot water system. I added a heat exchanger to transfer heat from the wood furnace, with a circulating pump to take away the heat. I purchased two inkbird PID controllers mainly because of cost. With one I want to control the pump to cycle the pump to bring the gas boiler up to temp. The second I want to monitor the wood furnace to shut down the pump if the fire goes out and the gas boiler goes online it prevents the heat from exchanging back to the wood boiler. I don’t think I need PID. I think I just need to run in on/off mode. My question is; is that correct? Do you have any information on using that mode? I have looked on inkbirds website and read the instructions and do not find anything.
Yes, I did buy one for my 'home made' still and was hoping that it would be accurate down to .01 degrees but I will most certainly be good with 1 degree instead.
For any controller with a binary / on-or-off output you can exceed its max amperage rating by using the controller to switch an external relay, or even multiple relays. In fact when I set up an expensive environment controller some years ago I used an external relay on the heater output from the get go even though it was rated high enough for the heater. I figured switched a relay with a minuscule draw would be a lot kinder on the circuitry than switching the full 2500W.
I bought this for my grow tent, I own a LEVOIT Humidifiers for Bedroom, 4L Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier, when the set humidity reaches the point the humidifier does not power up, I have to click the button on the base. Is there a certain humidifier that will work with this?
So if I plug my 1300-1500 watt milk house heater up to the first plugin it'll basically keep my pump house from freezing and busting. While also saving me some money do to the heater not running just to run.
Thanks for the video George, just one question can I plug both temperature and humidity sensors but only use the outlet plugs "work 1 and work 2" how you have it to control heating and cooling?
Hi George I’ve made my pid with the inkbird but the element won’t stay at a settled rate in my pot still. Can I fit a potentiometer to it. Thank you from GB
I see the decimal points on the box, but I can’t seem to set to 99.5, I’m using for an incubator. Do I need to set to 100 and use the “temp difference” to drop the half degree? Won’t that also heat to 100.5 before turning off then too? Just got mine in the mail and trying to figure it out...
Thanks for putting out these great videos. I bought my 1st still (8gal ss MileHi) from y’all and your videos are my go-to for information. You’ve gotten me very interested in using a PIV temp controller. Only problem is that I can’t find a controller that will handle a 2000w internal element. I have a manual controller but would like to be able control better. I was hoping this Inkbird would handle it but I guess not. Do you have any recommendation? Thx & keep up the great work!
Barley and Hops Brewing...Thx for responding & including that link. It looks like you’re using a PIV controller that you built. Are you basically saying there aren’t any manufactured controllers that can handle a 2000w element & that I I need to build my own controller?...Thx, Tom
The probes are threaded if you have the same ones I have. They normally fit directly into the rubber bung that caps off the top of the column. If not you could drill a small hole and insert it. There are many ways to do this but your particular set-up will dictate how you need to proceed.
I bought this thing to control a small space heater and a humidifier. But when I have them both plugged in the unit does not supply power to anything regardless of the heat or RH setting. If I unplug one of the sensors it supplies power to the remaining unit plugged in. I need this to be able to control humidity and heat for my plants as the demand darkness and I can't be jumping in there to adjust a space heater.
Hello George,I have the 1500w element from brewhaus, for my 8 gallon kettle. Would you recommend more heat or would this be enough to distill? and would this Inkbird 608 work for me?
This is the one I use and I find it to be accurate, durable and simple. www.amazon.com/ORYCOOL-Resolution-0-00-14-00-Calibration-Hydroponics/dp/B07F8S8N3H/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1541197454&sr=8-8&keywords=ph+meter+brewing

Now THAT'S how you demo an inkbird!!!! Thank you! I'm subscribing based on this video alone.
Awesome, thank you!
Best explanation I’ve seen, thanks
This is going to work great in my incubator thanks for your help.
They are now being advertised as a 'Reptile Environmental Temperature Control Unit '
and the cost is down to $45.00 on Amazon.

What about Roof Heat cable 1000 wats temp on 32/off 38
Will this work with my window air conditioner?

Tom, building your own is the best option in my opinion.

Hello, great channel.
How do you fix these probes to the top of the still ?
They look like they should have a threaded feature ?
Regards
Gary

Great information.can you tell me if this unit can be used in 220volt power supply (Europe)?i live in Greece.thanks
Yes, I build models designed for the 50Hz 220 volt system in Europe.
@@BarleyandHopsBrewing thanks for the fast response..
I Will need only plug adaptors?
Sir this is use for 4 heater element
I have this thing trying to hook it up but it won't run heater and humidifier. It shuts off for some reason and will only run one at a time
I need a little more info than that.

I need to use this for fans and A window unit.
I want the same fans to turn on depending on temps and humidity..can it be done..
I have a 3 gallon copper still. Will this work using a 1500w 120v heating element to distill some shine?
Yes it should be strong enough for that.
George
Can I have it so a fan turns on depending upon temps and humidity with this?
Or is heat and cooling or humidifier and dehumidifier?
This device does not control a fan.
Not a big fan of these types, mainly due to the probe. Most you're not even able to switch it.
Hello George,I have the 1500w element from brewhaus, for my 8 gallon kettle. Would you recommend more heat or would this be enough to distill? and would this Inkbird 608 work for me?
That is enough and the 608 may work. I will no guarantee it though
Terry, I just ordered the exact same set-up you described. How did yours work out?
Do you guys sell flat sheet copper and if you do what dimensions and price of copper and shipping
Sorry, we do not sell any copper sheets.
George
I only need a heating pad and a humidifier. Can I control the humidity with “work 2” instead of using it for “cooling”
Yes. This unit is capable of controlling both processes at the same time.
George
How do I have it turn on fans if it's hot or to humid?
I’m using it for an incubator.
Always enjoy learning from your videos George keep it up. Do you recommend any pH meters to use instead of litmus strips?
This is the one I use and I find it to be accurate, durable and simple.
