I guess it's pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
@Moses Kendrick Flixportal :)
@Arlo Desmond Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it !!
@Moses Kendrick you are welcome xD
Brilliant! The way you move around in Garageband is amazing.
I wish I was a kid again, who had all day to do nothing and being able to play with this? Imagine having great musical talent...and Garageband? I think schools should show everyone how to make music. There are thousands of Beethoven's out there. This is an incredibly fun tool.
So true! I watch my little humans using it and think exactly the same thing. 👍
My school has a music class where we did some stuff on garageband. It was kind of fun.
Now that last tip is the sort of thing I want. Ways to make your own music, with your own sounds. Becoming unlimited is so freeing! Thanks Pete!
Very welcome my friend. Thanks for watching and taking the time to let me know.
i have pulled my hair out trying to understand this programme you make it a little easier to navigate through thank you so much

Always a pleasure to see your videos. Not only informative and witty but your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks again Pete for revealing all these tips. Again you conjured a smile on my face!
Nice one my friend. Really appreciate your support and kind words.
Brilliant and lucid tips on using loops, especially how to manipulate with the sampler. I'm always amazed at how you can demo things so quickly without leaving out steps - it's all demo'd out live, which is extremely helpful.
Cheers Ed. Appreciate the feedback. My style doesn’t work for everyone but I try to be clear but also concise. Not always an easy combo to achieve!
What timing ...I was working with a few loops today.
Possibilities shown.., Great Stuff Pete.
Nice one! Yes, there’s some great ways to make sure you get some unique sounds there my friend. 👍🙏🤘
Such a great, fun and informative tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
Cool demo of the Apple Loops versatility. I voted on your survey that I liked the screen capture demos better, but this hands on vid was well done!
Cheers! Yes, the general consensus was that the screen recordings were slightly preferred but lost folks didn’t seem to mind either way, so I’ll probably continue to vary it up.
Pete I just love your creativity and brilliant ideas on how using GB can be fun and spark musical ideas. I am so happy I came across your channel, now also found your website. Awesome videos man!
Thanks so much my friend! Really glad to have you here in the community.

Great job as usual Pete!
Cheers my friend. 👍

Pete, I am a big fan and subscriber - and own your CD. But my comment was supposed to be on How To Fix AUDIO MUTE video. Not sure how it appeared on this Loops video, in that I don’t use loops...yet.
Amazing video, as always, really inspiring
Cheers Pablo. Appreciate your support as always. 🙏
Very informative, Pete. It's a lot more difficult to keep your samples in key when you sample a chord rather than an individual note.
Right!! Didn’t think that one through too well. Proof that my tutorials are indeed usually quite spontaneous! 😄
This video is amazing
Thanks David. Appreciate the kind words. I hope you get value from the other videos on the channel and consider subscribing if you haven’t already. 👍
the thing i love about garageband is that you might find it complicated at first until you get used to it and actually start making good music
100%! Once it clicks, it’s like second nature.
This was very useful! Thank you so much!

Love the tutorials, thanks Pete! Question - when I first add a new pack, it seems to import all sounds into a song in the sound grid. Is there a way to replicate that, meaning add all the sounds from a pack into a song all at once?
Hey there. So there’s the Live Loops grid for each pack that has many of the loops and samples in it. I don’t think there’s a way to bulk import all the sounds in the normal track view however? Maybe ask over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group? studiolivetoday.com/gbu
Hi Pete, I love your videos so much and have learned a great deal. I have one problem though. I can’t seem to copy and paste for the life of me. You do it so smooth. I destroy everything each time I’ve needed to do it. Can you give me some tips on that specifically?
Stay safe and God Bless
Ana
Hi Ana. Yes, don’t worry. I do my fair share of pasting in the wrong spot. The key is to ensure the start of a piece of audio or virtual instrument is right on a grid line. Then when you have copied, you need to first tap right on a grid line and then paste. Maybe I need to cover this in more detail in a future video as it can be super messy at times.
Your the best.
Thanks my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos on the channel and consider subscribing if you haven’t already. 👍
Great loop tips! You ever think to sing and play guitar over some EDM loops like those? Could be cool!
Yeah, I was thinking about that recently. I have made a few electronic tracks however never recorded a true hybrid track. Could be cool!
@@PeteJohnsMusic I'd love to hear that! Acoustic EDM! Could be the next great genre.
I'm on it! 🙏
This is cool. Nice tips. When you save to sampler, does it have to be a uncompressed wav file?
Hey there. Nope, you can use any supported audio file (MP3, M4A, AIF etc). It’s pretty cool and flexible.
How do you switch from music cells to rows?
Thank you , you are amazing! Extremely helpful! You have the ability to clearly explain things where people get it. Keep up the amazing work! Cheers!

Hey Pete ! Honestly I can’t thank you enough for all your GarageBand tips and tricks ! You’ve inspired me to start using GarageBand and I literally couldn’t be more grateful to you! I’ll start uploading my projects every now and then and hopefully improve over time ! I’d appreciate if you can check out my first instrumental I’ve put up on my channel ! 🙏🙏🙏 keep it up! Much love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Hello my friend! Fantastic stuff!! I shall jump over to your channel and check out your music for sure: 👍🙏🤘
Hi Pete thanks for the amazing video just a quick question can I change the key signature of each track in one same song .For example for 8 bars I want the loop to sound on a minor and next eight bars I want the same loop to sound on G major key ,Can we do that if yes then how will appreciate your help thanks.
Hey there my friend. So, short answer is no. Once you change the key signature, that is the new key for the song. However, you can add in loops and sounds then change and not select the “follow key”, and you can then add in new sounds in a different key. ua-cam.com/video/UCh2qGjrP74/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for your help Pete another thing I’m thinking for example I can create one guitar track on a minor key then export as a song then creat another guitar track on g scale and export both separately as new individual song then if possible Import both files in a new track then play around.
Do you have a video on how to time loops from scratch using bars??
HI there. I'm not sure quite what you are looking to do sorry?
Pete Johns lets say I open GarageBand from the start. For example I’ll select maybe like a synth bell and play a melody on my own rather than use a preset loop from apple. Basically like I’m trying to make my own loop from scratch. But when it gets to the end of let’s say, a set of 8 bars before it repeats again, it never ends right. I hope I was able to explain it just a little bit better. And thank you for your response!
Hey Pete, is it possible to live loop and map to a midi keyboard such as the MPK in Garageband, just like you can do in Ableton? Thanks!
I don’t believe so. GarageBand doesn’t have MIDI “learn” features.
I’m late but new to GarageBand. I have a song that is finished and I need to know how to copyright the song I created in the app. I am interested in shopping it.
Depends on your country. Look up “copyright” and your country online and you’ll be able to find something I’m sure.
Hi pete... i wanna ask if how to record just the vocal within the backing track than i put in without the backingtrack sound recorded along with the vocal
Because everytime i record a vocal i always catch the sound of my backingtrack :(
Are you using headphones my friend? Sounds like microphone bleed. This video will help explain this - ua-cam.com/video/EcI1tPC4P34/v-deo.html
Very cool Pete thank you!
Just a side question that may not be in your wheelhouse. What if you write a whole song and someone else comes up with a great bridge.
What do you call that person ...a contributor? A co-writer? Etc.
I want to be fair with everyone as far as credits go when publishing.
I think they wrote the song with you. You want to give partial credit?
Yes; it can depend on exactly what the contribution and arrangement was. A true collaboration might give equal writing credits to two or more people. Or if someone sings or plays an instrument on a track, it might be “featuring”. For example the song I released with Dan Baker where he wrote and recorded violin parts I released as “Things Change feat Dan Baker”.
Hi Pete! Can you change apple loops colors on Garageband for iPhone?
Unfortunately not. Stuck with the standard blue, green and yellow.
Thanks Pete!
Apple should hire you!
Haha! I don’t think they’d like everything I have to say about them. 😊
As you talk, the Piano meter goes up and down!
Truth.
Hi Pete! I'm not sure if you'll have time to answer this question, or if anyone else might be able to.. but I've hit a wall w loops that I've never encountered before. I am using GB on my Mac book pro and it used to be that I could split up loops.. have them cut off where I want to.. even use just one note if I wanted.. but I grabbed the "SoCal (Kyle)" Drummer loop. It's very cool. But when I try and trim it to cut off the annoying snare that's at the end, the snare automatically moves to exactly where I cut it. Every time. Even if I've made the loop a fraction of the original size, there's the stupid snare. lol I'm so confused!! Would love someone's help/advice! And thanks for your great videos, Pete! ♥️
Hey there. So yes, Drummer looks are designed to “help” you in this way. Now on the iOS version what you can do it use the “merge” function to make the loop in to an audio file and then when you split it will retain the original drums and layout. ua-cam.com/video/imcgX2bW8rk/v-deo.html
I’m assuming you can do something similar on Mac but it’s not my area of expertise sorry. Maybe ask around the GarageBand groups on Facebook or Reddit?
@@PeteJohnsMusic Aww Thank you so much for your reply! Means a lot that you took the time! I will have a look at your merge vid. And yeah.. will ask around in the groups , too. I wish I could heart your comment. ..Special emoji import: ♥️😉 lol
How do i change the instruments?? I have my third line to a trumpet i want a piano but keep same melody
Hey there. You should be able to simple change the instrument and it will keep the same melody. This is only for virtual MIDI tracks however. Check this video for more information - ua-cam.com/video/-6JeW7QtIzs/v-deo.html
How to use knob gestures in iPhone GarageBand
Hi there my friend. I'm not quite sure what you're asking about? Here's a video showing the options and how to set how the knobs work in GarageBand - ua-cam.com/video/jPAaIcXyba8/v-deo.html

I have the ipad air and I dont have the microphone
Hey there. The audio recorder? This video might help. ua-cam.com/video/JvAMg_1enjI/v-deo.html
Is there a way to import a song purchased from iTunes that is in my Music app in to GarageBand?
Hey there. Not really. You can use workarounds like this. ua-cam.com/video/5PATcBr42kI/v-deo.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks for that! Just watched it.
Please, where is the crossfade and fade options? I’m so lost in the iPad version
You'll need to use automation in GarageBand iOS for fading. studiolivetoday.com/garageband
May i ask , how do u go to that mode?
Hi there my friend. This video should help show you how to go between "Live Loops" and "Tracks" views. ua-cam.com/video/x4oRFY8ERCI/v-deo.html
Hello Pete. Practicing with this tutorial. What happens at 15:40 in your movie does not happen with me: no loop added! It is saved at the place you mentioned. When I choose the Sample player I see the 'loops.wav' file, but it is 'greyed out' and does not play. What did I do wrong? (iPadOS 13.4, GB 2.3.8 (4975.58)
Hi Jan. Is this perhaps being caused by the current bug with the "save to files" option? Check out this video which might help - ua-cam.com/video/tPRKLssSdpg/v-deo.html
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thank Pete, I'll look to it. I have seen the counter at the loops icon earlier, because it also shows up when you add a midi file there. But yesterday I updated to iPadOS 13.4..... Thanks for your reply.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Indeed! This works! Thanks, man! Keep safe, keep healthy! (people like you and me DO know what to do with there time!!!)

Is there any copyright issue in UA-cam if I use any live loop in my music...please answer I need your help
Live loops are just regular Apple loops that you trigger, so the same rules apply. ua-cam.com/video/IIqi6TRnTk4/v-deo.html
I’m trying to take a kooo icon off of my song once I decide I don’t want it there
Hey there. I’m not quite sure what you’re asking sorry? Hap out to help but maybe provide some more information?
